From USA's SS website "Why Did the Full Retirement Age Change?

Full retirement age, also called "normal retirement age," was 65 for many years. In 1983, Congress passed a law to gradually raise the age because people are living longer and are generally healthier in older age.

The law raised the full retirement age beginning with people born in 1938 or later. The retirement age gradually increases by a few months for every birth year, until it reaches 67 for people born in 1960 and later."

Personal note: I have had no less than six careers and finally retired at just  two months shy of my minimum goal of age 75.

Don't retire unless you become disabled, and even if you do  find a new easier career. At 80 I want back in the workforce or to start a new business.

Turns out the USA's SS retirement benefit is an excellent retirement benefit program! Least it has been for me. I think I received back more than I had ever paid in in total over the working years  after the first two years of benefits received. Plus each year that I continued to work  my benefits were recalculated increased in addition to the COLA benefit and a cash payout sent to me of a few thousand dollars each year.

There is a Santa Claus.

Even before retirement I studied the Word.  Now that I'm retired this can easily go into hyperwarp - I'm already close to half way through the Bible since July 29 and have to put brakes on. But what helps me is I can also listen to the Bible.  Blue letter Bible has all sorts of translations one can listen to on their computer, by earbuds from their phone or whatever.  In the latter days of my work that's how I got thru the Bible just about as fast by listening to it. I read through the Bible more times than I can count or remember.  My translation of choice is simply the KJV but I had read the Bible through with several other versions and in recent years I warmed up to the New KJV.  This replaces ancient idioms that are not familiar in today's language.  I went through the NKJV I think twice and then got my own back in autumn 2021 and it's wearing out already.  Oh well, I guess that's a good problem to have. LOL.

I read through the KJV when I first became a born-again Christian some forth plus years. I was helped by several commentaries while trying to make sense of the text. I quickly found the NASB and NIV better, more readable translations worthy of serious study. More modern translations like the CSB and ESV are also worthy of serious study.

I can't find em anymore here. I'm glad I can kick em out myself. If you go to a church you may be happy if they even pray for people. Also pentecostal churches.

I think a lot of stress comes from people doing way too much.

So many people have to have a big house, 2 jobs, cars. Pffff. A bike and an apt and a nice chill part time job are fine with me.

And also school. Such nonsense to study hard, get A's and do the most difficult school. I had to do that from my dad, cause he was a teacher. I put so much useless nonsense in my head. Such a pity. I told my kids to do the easier school and chill.

For a period of time after my doctor switch my asthma prescription to Theophilem, I was only able to sleep for  an average of 2 to 3 hours a night....    Was kind of cool for a short while until the sleep deprivation set in and all of a sudden I could not handle any stressful thing....    It got to the point I was over reacting to everything and my wife got afraid to live with me.   She demanded I start counseling to figure out some way to deal with the world.

One thing I learned in the counseling was to do something each day.   I wrote down the things that happened that day.   Those things that went well I made a promise to keep doing.   Those things that didn't go well I was to divide into two groups....  Could I have done anything that would have made a difference....    if yes keep the note as a reminder to do those things when/if they come up again.   If No there was nothing I could do about it, I was to light them in a container and watch them burn to ashes.

It did help to get a grip on some things, but after about a year and a half the councilor saw me one morning when I had only slept an hour and he had inadvertently  hit on my actual problem.  Since he was not a doctor he could not write a prescription so he asked me to go see my doctor for the prescription....    when she heard I wasn't sleeping she asked me if I was taking the asthma medication and instructed me to stop.    I slept from Friday night to noon Monday and things got better each day afterward.

I learned many things during that time.   Before that time I was very good at my job and expected everyone else to be able to do the same things...   It taught me what it was like to be pushed beyond my natural abilities....   and made me much more acceptance to others shortfalls.

I still do the writing down of things to ponder over and burn the things I can't control, but those things I had no control over, I pray over them and put them into the Lord's hand...    I do still burn them, and that does really help.

Excellent input, @other one Real life stuff. This highlights the fact of physiological conditions causing behavioural issues, and wrong treatment making matters worse.

In accordance with God's Will, I keep notes and records of simple daily tasks and transactions. Recently I attended an Assembly of God service and afterwards, using my diaries and financial records, traced my original encounter with the lead pastor there back to January 2007 when he popped up in the neighbouring property of a client and asked if I could also do some work on his property.

The Rolling Stones sang about not getting any

                       S A T I S F A C T I O N,

but being in tune with God's Will is most satisfying.

A former boss wanted to get me fired, so I had to go to a psychiatrist and she said: Aren't you worried that you will lose your job? I'm a single mom. I need my income. I said no. Because: Cast all your cares on Him cause He will care for you.

LOL Then she said I was too nuts to realize I was nuts and because of that they couldn't fire me LOL.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
