Although I think Matthew 24.6 is basically in the context of tribulation saints rather than the church, it's a highly applicable statement by the Lord Jesus:

"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."

John 16.33 is another very relevant verse, I think..........

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Hi sis.. chess "amazingly, there are even more possible variations of chess games than there are atoms in the observable universe."

I will say no matter how many times that child falls, goofs up, leaves, rejects, they are still His. Just not the same for those poor old Christians.  :) Its not written do not kill it really means do not murder. So even though in my eyes Israel left Him but He still blesses them and keeps His promises.. oh praise you Father. What Hamas did... Israel is one of the only nations I would NEVER want to pick a fight with. They may have left God but He never left them!

I can toss all that out.. I have no idea what it's like to have so many live around you that have only one prayer one wish and that is you dead. I don't know what that's like.

I was thinking along those lines this very morning Marilyn.   Israel should be ready for them and lay a trap if they should invade from the North.   I don't know what they should do about all the missiles they supposedly have, but they can't stop them all if they are allowed to become airborne.

I thought I`d give some thoughts on what I see might occur following the `war` now in progress with Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

First there needs a bit of background concerning the two sides of Islam - the Sunni and Shi-ites. When Mohammed died the Shites believe that his son-in-law was the rightful leader, however the Sunnis believe it was the `anointed` leader to be in charge. Thus, over many centuries there has been much fighting between the two groups.

In the `8o`s there was the 7 year long war between the two groups. Then in the `90`s the Iraq war with the US and Saddam. Next came al-Qaida, (Sunni) terrorist group bringing terror across the region – Iraq, Afghanistan, North Africa etc.

During that time some Sunni militants tricked about a 100 Shite young men into going to a certain place, but there they were killed and their bodies thrown into the river below. Horrifying. The Shites would not forget this atrocity.

So, now we have a Sunni led (Hamas) group venturing out of their enclave to attack innocent women and children. Iran is supposed to have instigated this. Iran is Shite, and to my mind they have sacrifices the Sunni (Hamas) to Israel`s wrath and while Israel`s military is busy down south they will attack from the north. Thus, Ez. 38 & 39.

In chess you often sacrifice a lesser piece for a greater advantage.

What do you think?

Greetings Marilyn,

I will present a nine-page teaching on my thoughts on all this at our church. We are on the same page, but my thoughts on the sequences and timing differ. In my studies, I discovered some interesting things, the one about Hamas below being one of them.

This is Israel's Pearl Harbor, their 9-11, the first time in over 50 years since the Yom Kipper War, they have declared war. I am surprised by the UN. It is not clamoring for restraint on Israel. This is a regional war, it would not surprise me if it were the beginning of the Psalm 83 war.

We now see the players and reasons for the utter destruction of Damascus, Syria, overnight by the "children of Israel" (IDF). We see why Elam (1/6 of S.W. Iran) is where the Bushehr nuclear facilities and programs are located will be destroyed. We see the alliances forming with the five major nations involved with Russia (Gog-Magog). Several at Israel's northern border, with a deep water port, airbases, military buildup, and Russia's increasing hostility toward Israel.

As you mentioned, Hamas and Hezbollah are proxies of Iran and are useful idiots. They are the ones being killed, not the Iranian military. This time around, I do not believe Israel will compromise or negotiate. I think they will cut the head off of the snake and obliterate them. Of course, there is always another terrorist group to take their place.

There is a fragile peace between Israel, Egypt, and Jordan because they were whooped. I suspect Hezbollah for sure will join the Hamas fray. This "inner ring" of hostile nations and terrorist organizations now has the opportune time to attempt to drive Israel into the sea. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Whether or not my suspicions are correct, I can almost hear the shout and trumpet. :)

Look up the Hebrew word for violence. There are several verses in the Bible that violence pertains to a people group; below is one of them. Gath of the Philistines was home to Goliath; Gath is now the Gaza Strip. The Golan Heights, Jordan Valley, and Gaza Strip should sound familiar. Those areas God commanded to be completely wiped out, but they did not follow God's command, and Israel is still paying the price. "Woe to them that are at ease in Zion." Israel was at ease and taken by complete surprise.

Amos 6:1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! 2. Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border? 3. Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

Violence ~ 2805 חָמָס (ḥā·mās): n.masc.; ≡ Str 2555; TWOT, Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament 678a[1]

[1] Swanson, J. (1997). In Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains : Hebrew (Old Testament) (electronic ed.). Logos Research Systems, Inc.

Now let us insert the Hebrew word for violence: Hamas has risen up, and cause the seat of Hamas to come near. Gath was home to Goliath and is the Gaza Strip. (Seat of Hamas = their government-leaders)

Watcha think?

I failed to mention government insiders disclosed Netanyahu was secretly working on a land-for-peace deal. Dividing the sliver of the covenant land they now possess (Dividing the covenant land is an absolute no-no). They most likely will expand again, as they always do after a defensive war of aggression. I would post my nine-page notes and references, but too lengthy and have little interest.

That was interesting about the game of chess. And yes no one can outmaneuver God. He is the ultimate decider and will protect Israel. The focus is now for them (Israel) to turn to God.

Yes, I believe you are right.

Also, Iran is breathing threats and getting together with its allies. However, we know that God will restrain them till God puts hooks in Russia`s jaws and brings them and Iran etc down to the mountains of Israel to be judged.

I think February may be the time for that.

Hi Dennis,

That would be an interesting read your 9 page information. How did it go at your fellowship? I think people would appreciate having all the background information that you would have prepared.

Yes, we do see some events differently, but overall we are in the same book, (if not always on the same page.;)) I see ps. 83 as the 6 day war, while Amir sees it as 1948, so a few differences.

We both agree that Russia and Iran and Turkey etc are all buddies and just waiting in the wings. Interesting about the word Hamas meaning violence.

So glad you`re listening for the `shout and trumpet,` too. I believe we are in the airport lounge just waiting for our call to board the plane, as it were.

So, a few more thoughts -

1. The world will begin to turn against Israel. The Mayor of London has just said that Israel`s response is disproportionate. Has he heard of the sadistic carnage that happened?

2. Israel will go into Gaza and much horror will be shown on the media. People will be horrified and `forget` what Hamas has done or be told that it didn`t really happen.

3. Iran will keep up its threats and try to get the others moving. God will restrain.

4. The world will turn against Israel and there will be much violence against the Jews all over the world.

4. God will turn Russia back from the Ukraine and bring them down to the Golan Heights. (I may do a detail of that event.)

I see all this taking place over the next 4 months. Any thoughts?
