@debrakay Well........there it is, then, he does want more...

(Seems like this pleases you that he wants it.)

I guess to understand things from the perspective of those of your grandchildren's ages, for your grandson it's like he's probably thinking in terms of getting tattooed: I have been a boy, I'm now a man........ And your granddaughters each likely thinking similarly: I have been a girl, I'm now a woman.

But anyway I reckon that when you learned that your grandson really wanted specifically Bible verse tattoos to witness with, it must likely have really thrilled you.... newly as a man, as a Christian, going to the tattoo parlor for Bible verses. (Not least because you're a bit experienced at being tattooed already.)

Hi @itty-bitty lamb What you say is indeed also a significant possibility for some ppl.

For example, if a woman has the name of a non-Christian ex-bf tattooed, and she is subsequently soundly converted, she may indeed not wish to have a permanent reminder of her ex-bf. Instead, it might seem to her to be a good idea - for example - to have a tattoo that might say 'BILL' changed by a good tattoo artist into 'BIBLE', which would be far more in keeping with her now settled convictions.

(If this makes sense?)

@debrakay Thanks for your participation in the poll.

(From your response it's clear that - in theory at least - a faith-based design would for you be the way to go, right?)

@Walter and Deborah A while ago you quoted a comment relevant to this thread's topic.

"In today’s passage (Isaiah 49:14–18) ... God engraves the names of His people onto His palms (v. 16). The imagery is one of permanence and deep intimacy. We can’t be separated from God."

Today, so many young adults use a tattoo parlor to express what really motivates them. Among members of some professions - e.g., nurses - starting out on their careers, it is so widespread to plan at least one visit to a tattoo parlor that some nurses - even Christian nurses - might find it hard to conceive of not becoming tattooed as a young adult starting out in life.

FYI, this nurse says:

...............

Corgiverse RN

At this point- honestly it’s almost a requirement. Every single one of my coworkers is tattooed. reddit dot com

...............

Similarly, it's likely that a lot of 18 year old Christians having examined their hearts think it feels a good experience to emerge tattooed from a parlor inked up with something faith based that witnesses to ppl what really motivates them in life.

(If this makes sense in relation to the comment which you, @Walter and Deborah , quoted a while back?)

cc @debrakay @Willa This post might particularly resonate with you both, with already experienced young family members.

@farouk  I have noticed that you seem to be extremely focused on tattoos.   It is just a curiosity on my part as to why.   I've never seen anyone so focused and am intrigued as to why.

Thanks, @other one .

It's undeniably a topical subject.

Some Christians are driven by legalism in relation to the subject.

But there is also much evidence that many Christians consider a faith based tattoo very carefully - sometimes for a long while - and then a day comes when they emerge really confidently from the tattoo parlor with some faith based ink.

FYI:

I think the pastor's wife has a faith tattoo.... quite a few in my church have faith based tattoos and my friend and I were talking about them....I've seen tattoos that have a lot of meaning like mine. I feel mine is special and thankful I got it. I haven't once felt guilty for getting it."

Heather A. said:

"I waited 5 years before getting it. .. Reno also has a lot of tattoo places. Carson City has a few. Most people travel to Reno or Las Vegas for it. .. I have 1 tattoo and I got it in Reno. .. I do have a cross tattoo. "

There is a lot of evidence of such thinking among Christians.

So since the previous poll expired, I thought that a new thread and poll would likely bring many contributions - which indeed seems to be happening.

(Thanks for your poll participation.)

@other one Since they ought not to bother ppl, anyway, this I guess is why a lot of Christians receive faith based ones. All the young ppl with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem to have received them as witness tools..if this makes any sesne?

I guess so, but I still don't like them.  They just aren't for me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
