If I understand your question correctly?

There are “free” versions of the Bible and Bible apps for your PC or tablet that will speed up and enhance your study time, independent of access to the internet once downloaded. They come with a minimum of the basics, Bible, concordance, and maybe a Strong’s dictionary.

Once downloaded from the internet to your PC or tablet, you do not need internet access to use them; most functions will work offline. But, as you know, a computer only lasts so long, then you are back online restoring everything you lost.

I truly understand why you want to disconnect and wish you luck. But currently, the trend and goal are just the opposite, and it is becoming more challenging to get off the grid entirely by the day.

If you are interested in a recommendation for a downloadable Bible software package and why that is affordable (not free) and does not break the bank, let me know.

Yes, I am very interested Dennis1209, I am not even looking for a freebie or cheapy if I can just obtain one I can use offline. That would be better but not necessary.

I require no bells and whistles, no libraries, no commentaries, no lexicons, no dictionaries or concordances (they might be pluses but not necessary for my needs).

For my laptop, not phone (obviously, because I only have a flip phone)

A KJV bible would be perfect for me, a software that has a simple word search (just so I can find a verse I might be looking for). And the ability to copy paste from it so I can build my own studies. That's it.

It would be even better if I could get it on CD (something physical to have in hand) or something I could download from the internet  to a  flash drive (physical device) just so I can keep it and move it between computers if I ever needed to.

I know puters die, I went out and purchased every spare part for this one minus the mother board and found the key (which I previously could not) I wanted to do the same for my windows 7 (as a back up computer) but I cannot obtain the key and so I just have one laptop (this one) and the parts to rebuild it. I need to order the motherboard though. And so I thought between all of that, it would be a good thing to have in the meanwhile, hoping to get a few years more out of it offline while I transition off.

If you know of something that would be just awesome, I am very interested.

I am going to check out what Neighbor posted earlier, not sure whether his reccomendations will work or not, but the more the merrier.

Thank you! God richly bless you!

SordSearcher has everything that fits your shopping list; however, it also comes with a Strong’s lexicon and some excellent commentaries from some fine scholars.

I have had it for years and I am more than happy with it. Not too bad of a learning curve compared to Accordance or LOGOS. After purchase, they send you a download link, and can install on multiple computers. It now has a dark mode if one desires it.

When you get a new computer or you have a crash, you email them and they will send you another download link. It is CRITICAL to write down and keep your order and keycode number to get your downloads in the future to reinstall it.

After you install it, you set up what you want loaded to show, Bible(s) one more than one, functions, your layout, commentaries (if any), etc. You can set up a notes tab for every verse in the Bible for your personal notes, I have mine named, “edit DENNIS.”

SwordSearcher Bible Software: For Believing Study of God's Word.

You can organize the number of panels and how you want them arranged. Below, I have mine set up in dark mode with three panels. I paid $60.00 for mine, now it is $70.00. I would suggest you download the “evaluation version” and play with it to decide if this fits your requirements. Good luck!

P.S. I forgot to mention one of the features I like best. Sometimes, I can only remember a few words from a Bible verse I am trying to find. Type a word, two or three in the "search bar," bang, it brings up every verse with those word(s) in them.

Awesome Dennis1209! I just went ahead and purchased the CD to have a physical copy of it, I was expecting to pay hundreds for one so this is a pleasant surprise.

I cant wait to get it and play around with it, its just good to know I have it regardless.

Can I ask you another question? You know how you used to get Microsoft Word and actually own it? I know they do not do allow that anymore and using Notepad really stinks, but I refuse to lease it, and was wondering whether you knew of something that worked similar to that (that is NOT free) but I can have a physical copy of that works similarly to that?

P.S Also I had another question, on obtaining a a key I have tried every which way (Looking for the sticker on the machine in the battery dept, running commands through the BIOS, running other commands through Power shell and running Regedit search) and have come up with nothing for my Windows 7 (an OEM system) which I would really like to do a fresh install of) since it will remain offline. And I heard of Belarc key finder and Produckey online but they just pull up the manufacturers mass produced keys and are useless for the purposes of reinstalling or upgrading. I was just curious, would you (are maybe someone here reading this) know how to obtain a legitimate key so I can do a reinstall, or an upgrade, or just plain change out the hardware without having that key issue hanging over my head.

That took me an entire day to research and I come up short (and its my favorite old laptop) its perfectly fine and not at all ready to see the trash pile (all over some dumb key issue).

I should probably just start another thread I guess, but I am hoping its easier than what I have made it to be because I do not know a lot about tech and am pretty stupid with this stuff.

Thanks again though, I am so glad to have this CD coming to me, what a load off my mind this is.

God richly bless you!

As far as key and operating systems. I am computer illiterate. I may be able to help you out with your Microsoft Word question. There is no way I am going to subscribe to a recurring charge for any office product. I had to do some digging because they want your continued payments. Both the following products can be downloaded and used offline.

I used this free version as a word processor for years, and it is terrific. I did everything I wanted and more. Best of all, it is free. It is called LibreOffice.

Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft

An excellent free office software program is not good enough for ole Dennis, oh no. So, digging around I found you can make a one-time purchase of Student and Home Office 2019, or 2021, but not from the Microsoft Store, only from a licensed approved vendor. It contains Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Microsoft Office 2021 Home and Business License Download | MyChoiceSoftware.com

This is an excellent product I use, but let me warn you. First, it is a license for ONE computer only. It is a one-time purchase, meaning if your computer crashes or whatever, you must RE-PURCHASE the product again. I was lucky before I found out about this, and I was able to install it on my second computer. It is at their discretion, and if you want to go through some aggravation, it is not uncommon to plead for a replacement.

Secondly, registering it so it does not expire by a specific date is such a hassle. It is an unpleasant process that takes time and stresses me out with a plethora of numbers that must be entered perfectly in the process.

Since it is free and an open source, why not try LibreOffice, it does 90% of what the purchased product does.

Thank you so very much Dennis1209 I can't tell you how much your help means to me on these things.

And I feel the exact same way as you concerning paying a recurring charge for Microsoft, I refuse to do so also. And thanks for the heads up (its pretty predictable) concerning  the headaches with the Microsoft Office 2021 and having to deal with everything you mentioned in the above. Now,  if were $30 or something like that, I would buy it and say who cares about the rest it but not at that price with the lingering doom of a computer crash and having to repurchase at that price or worse needing to ever appeal to that company for anything (I despise the thought of ever having to do that ). So I am glad you gave me the extra details that was helpful also.

I have seen LibreOffice (or was that OpenOffice) and couldn't get one of them off the ground for whatever reason, so I ditched thinking about proceeding further with the free ones. I checked out some requirements, and  I don't have Java on my Windows 10 (so that all the features will work) but I do have it on my Windows 7 so I might just download that free one to that older computer.

I have always been a bit warry of clicking on links, downloading free applications, because I cant help think, "where's the hook here"? But considering its an older computer I am keeping offline I think I will go ahead and download the first one you suggested.

I can't thank you enough for all your help, you have got to be in some sort of customer service work or something.

Although, maybe not because customer service these days cannot hold a candle to the help you have given me. Thanks so much again Dennis1209 God's richest blessing in Christ be yours, peace to you!

You are welcome; it is a pleasure to help with what little I can.

I did not mention system requirements, and I assume you know more about computers than I do in your details.

Regarding LibreOffice, I thought the same thing; there must be a catch somewhere. I used it for over five years and never found one. As with most software, updates, and support, I suspect an older computer may have to be updated to a newer operating system and drivers to work, but that is a guess on my part.

I hope it all works out well for your needs. Please let me know.

I've run Apache OpenOffice for years (mostly for the database functions since my word processing and  spreadsheet use if mostly minimal and can be handled by very simple programs).

Not sure about LibreOffice, but regular OpenOffice implementations need a 32bit Java environment to urn, something my current os (Windows 11) really tries to resist.  There are difficulties I ran into in that I finally found a simple workaround for, if you try it again and have problems I can make a suggestion that will probably help (at least with Apache).

You would actually know more than me, I know nothing at all despite any given details, those were recently gathered while trying to find solutions the other day concerning that Windows 7 key. So don't let that fool you into think I know anything, I am as dumb as bag of rocks. Three days ago I would have been like, "what is a BIOS"? This looks scary Power shell? What does that even do? Can I just click on it? haha

I was like a kid exploring in a store I really shouldn't be in, and the only thing I had concluded from the walk through  was that a perfectly fine computer must go to the graveyard over an elusive 25 character key. "Laptop meet trashcan"

I think you are right, its a good guess, I am keeping that link in my favs and sit on that one. But I did watch a few videos last night to see a demo and liked what I saw and it would be perfect for my wants. If not I still have Notepad.

That's what I write on before replying and my paragraphs get all screwed up for whatever reason. I cant seem to correct them.

So good call!

Anyhoo, thanks again for everything Dennis1209, I am just so glad I was able to purchase a physical copy of a bible search, that was really weighing heavy on me.

I am going to wait till it comes in, make sure it works. And place an order  for a spare motherboard for this computer  and I think I will be all set then.

God richly bless you!

Hey there FJK! I think you have Dennis1209's name over my words in that quote there, how did you even do that? haha

I think that is the one an old friend recommended to me and I did try but for whatever reason it did not work for me. And it had to be on  my Windows 7 laptop (the same one which I am looking for that key). But that computer does have Java on it which was up to date at the time (even though I am sure it has to be way out of date right now) but it also is a 64  bit operating system like my Windows 10 laptop, but the Windows 10 laptop does not have Java on it though.

When I search it comes up "visit Microsoft store"

I'm thinking not

Thanks FJK, God bless you!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
