Divine Foreknowledge is Infallible in Election.

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Hey Michael, how are things revolving down way under? :spot_on:

I will not write a dissertation on this nor stoke a debate or discussion on foreknowledge vs. election or Calvinism vs. Arminianism. But 1 Samuel 23:10-13 clarified my thinking on election.

Hi @Dennis1209 I'm sure there are indeed plenty of examples from both Old and New Testaments which exemplify God's sovereignty in His dealings with people.

Howdy,

What I intended from the example I provided was that those things never happened. God knows the beginning from the end, who will accept the free gift of Salvation, and who will not. He knows all the outcomes, details, and consequences of every free-will choice and decision we can possibly make.

What if David had not consulted and inquired to God?

David is the only man in the Bible that is said to be “after God’s own heart.” It took me a lot of study to form an opinion of what that means—considering David’s multiple grievous sins with Bathsheba, having Uriah killed in battle to cover up his sin, and numbering Israel’s army.

I concluded and believe that one reason is that David was the only king who never slipped into idolatry. He was always faithful and trusted the Lord. The Psalms David wrote are heart-wrenching.

@Dennis1209 Such depths in the Psalms: the highs, the lows, the Messianic content, the anguish, the joy, the faith.............

The Lord is the One who instructs us, and He does so by us listening to His voice.

I "hear" God when the printed word the Bible jumps out at me with , most often, correction or new to me leading  all by the Holy Spirit which indwells me. Without the commands precepts and principles declared and taught within the Bible I do not 'hear" God, but instead my own wishes as to what God might condone if not greatly bless.

And that is when I can get into trouble if I end up doing what feels good to me thinking that God surely should bless, instead of my having stopped to think about, pray upon, and read over within the Bible seeking  command, precept, and principle, that will enlighten me and then "hear"  the Holy Spirit bring the confirming as well as the leading that says to me you will be  blessed as you also bless God in this (particular) matter.

I do hear the counsel of others, many that are  wise in that they have spent time, decades even, in reading the Bible, and then are prepared to think pray and read yet again as they give counsel as they too are lead by the Holy Spirit.

I fear it is great folly to engage in what I think of as practicing of a Walt Disney Jiminy Cricket professing religion- "let your conscience be your guide".  No! Make conscience be guided and subservient to the word of God, the written Bible,  inspired of God, which must be read with understanding  that comes through the indwelling Holy Spirit who is God.

It is work. Work that need be done  by the saints in Christ Jesus in a worthily manner. Praise God for his word.

The last two days have been cold and wet where I live, but that doesn't bother me. It's really good having Worthy Christian Forums to participate in and contribute to.

Your 1 Samuel 23 account of David asking the priest to bring the ephod and his consulting God regarding his preservation is a good example of conditional consequences, in this case of David not taking appropriate evasive measures, which thing he was then prompted to do.

We see conditional consequences in NT writing also.

Col 1:21-23  And you, who were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled  (22)  in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish, and without charge in His sight,  (23)  if indeed you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard and which was proclaimed in all the creation under Heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister,

Rom. 13:14 go very well with this;

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

Continuing to indulge in hedonism is no way for a Christian to travel through life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
