I personally take heart at what the Lord has said to us, His Body, which is further revelation than to Israel in the gospels. I believe the Holy Spirit will quicken our spirits the closer we get to the Lord`s coming. We wont be taken unawares if we are `eagerly waiting for Him. 

`To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time.` (Heb. 9: 28)

Each scripture you gave is conditional. Why then the exhorting if we can sleep to the last moment?

When Jesus was manifest on earth, we know that He spoke to His people Israel. Thus, there were specific warnings to them. As they were in darkness then He would come to them as a thief.

Then when Jesus went to the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit with further revelation just for the Body of Christ. That is why we will see the Day approaching and encourage each other all the more as He told us to.

If the Holy Spirit was sent to warn the last Christians alive of Christ's immanent coming, why did our Lord pray the Father to send the Spirit on resurrection day (Jn.20:22)? He needed only to send Him, say, now.

What date has the holy Spirit given you? Let's compare the personal speaking by the Holy Spirit about the thief and His coming to each of us two. But maybe a short commentary by you on Matthew 24 and the faithful / unfaithful servant would help. He was faithful. He was chosen by "HIS" Lord. He was given responsibility in the House of God by the Lord. He is "fellow servant" to Christians. In verse 48 he calls Jesus "MY Lord". How come he did not know when the "Thief" came?

We know that when the Lord ascended He sent the Holy Spirit for a whole new purpose. That was to build up and mature the Body of Christ as the Father having made Jesus the Head of His Body. Thus, over 2,000 years the Lord has, by His Holy Spirit been empowering, exhorting and encouraging His believers in the Body as they are built and matured together.

The final maturing of the whole Body is the standing for all the truths of Christ – His character and His purposes. When this is fulfilled by the Lord through the Holy Spirit then the Lord will come with those asleep in Him and together with those alive will be changed and caught up together to the Lord and escort Him to glory.

From beginning to final consummation, it is the Lord by His Holy Spirit that has planned and brought about the great purpose of the Body of Christ.

Stirring the spirits of believers as to the Lord`s soon coming is only part of what the Lord is doing by His Holy Spirit.

The word `Day` in Hebrew and Greek means a period of time and a specific day. So we need to check the context. The word `Day` in 1 Thess. 5 refers to the Day of the LORD (God Almighty in Judgment). The prophet Joel clearly shows when that Day begins.

`Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the Day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand: A Day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains, a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; nor will there ever be any such after them, even for successive generations.` (Joel 2: 1 & 2)

We are told this is the Northern army. (Joel 2: 20) `North` means the northern quarter of the world and that is where Russia resides. We will see them and those with them come down to the mountains of Israel in the Golan heights. (without walls. Ez. 38: 11)

Thus, we will SEE the Day approaching, (Heb. 10: 25) and encourage and warn each other all the more, as God`s word tells us to. As the Lord is about to descend from Heaven His Holy Spirit will be stirring in our hearts, more and more with excitement and anticipation. (Heb. 9: 28 – To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear…)

The parable of the two servants who did not know when the Lord was coming, refers to Israel who are in darkness even to this day. The evil servant beat his fellow servants and thus would be appointed with the hypocrites – weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The servant who was doing the master`s will would be given responsibility in the master`s house.

We can see this parable is NOT for the body of Christ as it refers to those in darkness and not knowing when the Lord would come.

The word `Lord` is a respectful title `kurios,` meaning God, Lord, master, Sir.

Are we in darkness so the day overtakes us ?

 

How much we need some context on this ?

 

The advice is to have faith and love, ( remember Jesus told love waxes cold.) and to have the hope of salvation. ( we are saved by hope)

Appointed to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, dying for us, to live together with Him.

Context proves all things, this is very important, to keep from all appearance of evil, for God to sanctify us wholly, apostle Paul prays for our soul and body to be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thessalonians continues, of he flaming fire vengeance on those who obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, because the testimony is to be believed, and the apostle prays for us always, that God would count us worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, the work of faith with power, of the name of Jesus Christ to be glorified in us, and we in Him according to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ...

Jesus told us, of many being concerned with cares of this life, and then the day comes upon us UNAWARES.

To PRAY ALWAYS TO BE ACCONTED WORTHY  to stand before the Son of man and to ESCAPE ALL THOSE THINGS. ( the snare comes on ALL THEM THAT DWEL ON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH.)..

 

Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

I left this last, to state again, pf the day as a thief in the NIGHT, of what manner of persons we have to be in ALL HOLY CONVERSATION AND GODLINESS.

We are to be DILIGENT, to be found of Him in peace, WITHOUT SPOT AND BLAMELESS..

But your postings maintain that no Christian will be surprised because the Holy Spirit will give a warning. Yet now you say that the Apostles, who wrote the Word of God, either withheld it or were never given it.
