Having wealth as a Christian can be a snare or a blessing. Being tested with wealth can be problematic for the recipient just as being tested by the beauty of a woman by a male Christian.

I have always wondered about the extra Christian faith challenges involved in being born very rich and being born very handsome or beautiful.  For those of use in the "average looks and average money" category, we are not as "tempted."

Here's another verse that goes with the one on being cheerful about giving.

Heb 10:34  For you both sympathized with my bonds and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that you have in Heaven a better and an enduring substance.

Amen. Reminds me of the old saying: You never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul trailer to the cemetery.

I have mixed feelings about donating to charities and worthy causes.  Now understand that this with good intentions and a glad heart.  There are some causes that I hold dearer to my heart and prefer to support before the general welfare bank that the government funds.  Then I want a tax write off to be able to give as I direct it.

Next, sometimes I am vocal about a personal donation to try to get enthusiasm and donations from others for the needy.

In my heart I believe these are acceptable instances of Christian giving and making it known.

When I give I always give anonymously. That is what is biblical.

Money can become an idol so a Christian needs to beware of that.

Luke 12:15

And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of [a]covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

Hi, a word I favor is eleemosynary, from the latin origin for alms.

To me eleemosynary giving is quietly done. It seeks no credit, and is part of the left hand not knowing of the doing of the right hand. It is not related to tithing,   nor gifts in addition  to tithes, that may be scheduled or programmed.

It is the call to provide at the indwelling Holy Spirit's lead,  solely for, and to  the glory of God.

The man before you paid for your groceries". I had $65.00 worth of groceries.

I have known people who were wealthy and would not give you 5 cents.

Yes, but what about a word to the Glory to God for the $65.00 blessing you did receive.
I would be extremely joyful and praising God when having received such a blessing. (the other side of the coin)
I might know about .00000000001% of the rich so I would even not begin/assume they are all tight wads most assume.

How many examples in the Bible are there about those who give much receive much?  I'm not talking about prosperity ministries but good stewardship.

Someone wealthy contributing to a new hospital wing to help heal the sick is wonderful but, when they insist on having their name placed upon the new wing they have already received their reward. Many people focus on this show of wealth and assume all wealthy people are exhibitionists like this.

A term coined in 1923,- was it used to apply to Biblical events or principles of giving or sharing or of doing good deeds? To be seen doing good is not a bad thing, as my Lord was seen going about doing good was He not? To give as some have done locally just this week even a million dollars to aid the hurting is not a bad thing just because it becomes known. It may not be  something that sets up reward in heaven, but still if it motivates others to also step up and share of their own prosperity at a time of great need for the community is that a bad thing? I think it is not. It is still good, a good deed, in fact an awesome one.

Much is done for the well being of others without any credit being sought, years of effort decades even, massive amounts of time devoted, with much personal wealth  put into such efforts, and not necessarily by  Christians.

There is a drive amongst some at least to do a great service just because they see the need and want to serve- give back or as some call it pay forward. It seeks nothing it just does and does so sacrificially.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
