Hi all, don't count on a snake hibernating for they don't hibernate. Snakes are cold blooded, unlike mammals that do hibernate, going into a deep sleep to conserve energy, snakes remain alert even in the cold. Snakes may move much slower in their cold weather, some but not all going into a  brumation state, but they do seek food and water even in the cold.

When it is colder weather snakes will more likely be found near but not necessarily  on surfaces that get some sun, asphalt as example. A snake maybe found at the intersection of paved roadways in the grassy area but right up against asphalt. A copperhead  snake may still be in an aggressive mode in colder weather. None the less, they too may make for interesting images!

Floridians on occasion may witness lizards falling out of trees in a frozen state of being, Iguanas as example, but don't pick one up as they are not dead. Your hands warmth may warm them right up; and then, well they will bite the hand that thawed them.

Best to leave  our earth's various wild critters be. Live and let live. Yes including alligators, especially alligators. Do not befriend critters in the wilds nor along the streets of the city by feeding any of them. Chipmunks excepted.

@Starise Please note the above.   I sure don't want you to get bit while hiking through those deep leaves where you cannot see what is underneath.

Coming from my home state of Georgia I could tell you a few stories. I’ll keep this short. I was in a swampy area of southern GA. I have this memory of it being a hot humid summer’s day. My father had taken us there to fish. As I was navigating around an area I was by a stream going into the swamp, sun shining through the dense trees, moss hanging off of them. The forest floor looked like a patchwork of sun and shade. My father’s advice kicked in. Always stop and examine the terrain, so I did. Within about 20 ft of me I counted no less than ten poisonous water moccasins sunning themselves.

Another time as a boy I was in the woods looking at this old car there junked by a dirt road. I smelled it first, then I looked down to my left to see a rattlesnake next to my left foot. As soon as I noticed it, I heard the tail rattling. I just stood there very still and eventually began to withdraw. Makes sense, the old car was absorbing a lot of heat and those snakes love the heat. My father tells of being bitten into his boot, but the boot took the fangs instead of his leg.

I had a lot of fun as a boy with local woods all around.Across the road from us there were a few nice swimming ponds. My father had even taken an old boat over there that we could float around in, but someone shot a hole in it and made it sink. It became a swimming hole for us, that is until I seen something dark just above the surface of the water. Lots of them. It turns out they were poisonous water moccasins. I stopped swimming there. Gators were not as likely since these ponds were not connected to another source of water.

I guess over time I’ve let my guard down as snakes are not as much of a thing as they are there unless you go into the mountains. Thanks for that friendly reminder Deb.

I have had to change my car 4 times this year  so yep I have to leave something easily identifiable in sight as I cant remember which car is mine even in the car park :kanoso::kanoso:

When I was lost in Japan an air tag in my luggage saved me. I hope you can keep a car for awhile this time.

Hi Starise,

A great walk for us to look at. Did you take water. I saw a Starbucks (we don`t have them) and thought you may get a coffee. And that was a long walk, so you must be fit. I love to look at the architecture.

I don`t think others are walking on a Wednesday for the younger people would be at work and the older ones not fit or with medical problems. maybe...

So, why was the bridge covered in?

As to snake stories. Well (years ago) my hubby was irrigating on our farm, (beef cattle) and picked up a wet sack cloth from the outlet and put it on the back of his motor bike. Then he drove across to the other outlet in the channel. When he put the wet sack bag on the ground - yes a snake crawled out.

Two sisters across the road and down a bit who milk their cows have killed about 14 snakes this year. I haven`t seen any.

Looking forward to your next video,

Marilyn.

The old covered bridges in Pennsylvania and also in the New England States are covered to protect the wooden bridges from the weather.

These covered bridges are quite the tourist attraction.

I read that Pennsylvania has more covered bridges than New England.   Growing up in Pennsylvania, I didn't know about the covered bridges there.   Wish I could have seen some.

This is a Pennsylvania covered bridge from 1830.

Thanks Debp,

Oh, that makes sense, to protect the wooden bridges. How pretty it looks.

Thanks Marilyn. I appreciate your comments. We have Starbucks. I don’t often go to them mainly because they are so far away.

I would love to get a feel for what It’s like where you live.
I’m glad the snake hurt no one.

I am in the process of making a new YouTube channel called “ The Beacon” but when I searched it I realized there must be 500 other channels with the same name. The result is I’m hopelessly buried. I may need to change the name.

My idea was to make a more serious channel that takes on current world subjects. The plays on that first video have been quite dismal. Mainly because there is no visibility to speak of. We live and learn right?
Since it’s an ideas channel I wasn’t sure if it conflicted here. My views are and always will be Christian, but I had not planned to make it visible here as much. The subject matter on that channel clashes with hikes as an interest.

If anyone has interest that channel can be found here.

Hi Starise,

I listened to your comments. Firstly, I liked the picture of you in the nice sunroom with the little dogs coming and going. I also liked your natural way of sharing and not put on. Your speaking voice is pleasant and easy to listen to.

Now to the context, your subject. I see you had no notes, and (thus?) you tended to `waffle` a bit, speaking in generalizations where actual examples would be better. Even though you were attempting to highlight the metaphysical/ designer God, actually your last subject came over better. And that was the affect the phones/utube etc is having on us.

Very brave to admit you are addicted. That is why it`s good to see you out and about hiking or on your bike. That is needed for relaxation of mind and body and we, who can`t get there so enjoy going with you.

I suggest that you prune down your topics so that you can give more detail and examples.

Just some thoughts I had, which may not be other`s thoughts.

regards, Marilyn.

BTW I did try and find your videos on utube by the title but there were just too many with similar titles and thousands of views.

So, just my suggestion. You are very good one on one, (eg viole) with those topics, and perhaps in other forums. However, if you want a utube presentation and people looking you would do well, I believe, to speak to believers about the world we live in and the dangers you see. And/or about life in general and detail, in this changing environment we now are moving into.

Whatever you do I am always interested to look, listen and learn. Having been a teacher, I do like to review work and appreciate the effort you have to get messages out there.

regards, Marilyn.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
