How would that look in practice?  People use the Lord's name (Jesus Christ) in vain all the time.  And people slander God the Father a lot too, saying things against Him ("A loving God certainly wouldn't do that!").  But I don't think I've ever heard someone say anything in vain or slanderous specifically about the Holy Spirit.

Hi and Merry Christmas to you and yours,

To my understanding, and I guess also personal experience too, it is not the uttering of a vain profanity, nor even a denial of our Lord nor God the Father, it is the denial of the Holy Spirit's explicit call to to an individual to turn about to repentance from Sin against God that is unforgivable.

One cannot see nor understand the Godhead without the enlightening by God the Holy Spirit. Rejecting that specific call, not the general call which is seen in all that is nature, but the specific call (From the Holy Spirit)  to repentance that leads to be indwelled with the enabling Spirit. That rejection is unforgivable. It negates any opportunity to  know Jesus and the Father. For right now I'll leave it at that, -without Bible references as I am a bit filled up with tasks that need pondering upon and tending.

I will say that in my own case after decades of encouragement from individuals I was challenged through an angel by the Holy Spirit to decide NOW or never. I decided yes, now! Couldn't hardly do  anything else this side of sanity when faced with that specific call. To reject that would have been unpardonable for my grieving the Holy Spirit.

The Unpardonable Sin

Some people believe they have committed the unpardonable sin. They are convinced they are guilty of this sin and it weighs heavily on them (as it can’t be forgiven). There is no more grace; their situation is hopeless — or so they think. Other people make a list of different types of sins and say that if you commit this or that sin, then you are guilty of the unpardonable sin. Some say that ‘as long as you are still worried about what you did, then it proves that you have not committed the unpardonable sin.’

The unpardonable sin cannot be committed today. The only context in which the unpardonable sin is described is in the Synoptic Gospels where ‘this generation’ in Israel blasphemed the Holy Spirit by rejecting the works that Jesus Christ performed (Matthew 12:22-45; Mark 3:22-30; Luke 11:14-26). Jesus was thus not accepted as the Messiah and so the establishment and restoration of the Messianic kingdom on earth was postponed. What happened?

This is very easy if, one contemplates the context.

So, you can DO THIS to the Father, the Son and its not an unpardonable sin, but WHY?

The why tells us the what.

So, in the context of the chapter the Pharisees/Scribes/Jewish leaders told Jesus he did all these miracles in Beelzebub's name or in Satan's name. Well, how did Jesus actually preform those miracles? By the power of the Holy Spirit. So, if you state a person performing the works of the holy spirit is doing so in Satan's name, or that the work he is doing is not of God but of Satan, you have just trashed and lied on the holy spirit.

Since Jesus' work was over with the Sacrifice and God the Father resides in heaven, one lying on them does not per se hinder the Gospel being spread. But lying against the holy spirit, who still has work left on earth, via saving souls, can not ne lied on, else you risk committing the Unpardonable sin. So, if you see a preacher healing etc. etc. and if you do not know 100 % that is not of the holy spirit, then never say it is of Satan. You can say I do not think he's of God, but never say that work is being done by Satan, therein lies the rub. The Pharisees claimed Jesus preformed hos miracles by the power of Satan.

I truly do not know why people can not grasp this fully.

So, unless you claim someone's work in the holy spirit is being done by Satan, don't sweat it. Even if you randomly say you do not think they are of God, that is not blasphemy, you can not blaspheme men. But if you say an HOLY WORK was done by Satan, that is Blaspheme.

The unpardonable sin is rejecting God's offer of grace via and through the Holy Spirit.

God's call to repent and believe is His universal offer of His grace. Some hear the word of God and come to saving faith, but many others hear the same word of God and reject it.

Romans 1 clearly illustrates that, at some point, God withdraws His offer of grace and rejects those that reject Him, so they are no longer able to repent and believe because all they care about is their hedonism.

That's the scriptually-supported answer, my friend. Well said.

Just as in the case with the seven heads of the beast having the name of blasphemy; blasphemy is holding a position contrary to God. The worshippers (adherents) of the beast will therefore hold positions contrary to God, and thus be blasphemous of Gods Spirit.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
