Acts 2.42 is also relevant: continuing stedfastly  in various testimony activities......

Ahh Acts 2:42 not 2:24

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Discipleship is not optional.

Jesus said, "If ANY man would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me".

There are not two classes of Christians, disciples and non-disciples. The new birth changes the rebel into a disciple. As Paul wrote it is a new creation. Regeneration changes the inward disposition of a person from disobedience to obedience. Anything else is a counterfeit conversion.

In the first paragraph is what Jesus said to some people who wanted to be his disciples just like the twelve.

In other words Jesus was telling the people that this is what the twelve disciples had done. And if anyone wanted to be one of his disciples this is what Jesus was asking from them.

There were many people who followed Jesus on a regular basis. And one time Jesus choose 72 of them.

Luke 10:17- The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

......Almost every believer is a disciple even a disciple to his own family and to his children.

It seems to me that you are wriggling out of the plain meaning of the text. Jesus' call to follow Him was 'if any man' not just some.

He told them that time that he was not like the other Rabis who teach out from a Synagogue or their own school. That He is wandering Rabi continuesly moving around from place to place.

Jesus had no permanent place to teach from. He did not own any property. He teach out in the open on the hills where a bigger crowd can gather and won't interfere with the regular business of the towns.

His disciples they had to follow Him around where ever he went and they did not know where he will go next.

Even Jesus did not know as he had to follow the Heavenly Father. He too had to follow the Heavenly Father as his life and his schedule was in his hands. Often Jesus said your will be done. He was in obedience to the Heavenly Father.

People drop out of the churches because they want to tell them what to do and how to think. And how to live. They continiiusly judge their own. And they never found them good enough.

There is always something else.

That or they don't  like having the High standard of Jesus  before them and they want an easier life style.

It works both ways,  some think they are being judged unfairly, or they are being judge fairly.

Good point; Paul to the Romans speaks of 'obedience to the faith' and 'the obedience of faith' (1.5 & 16.26).

We know the general good will of Jesus for all. But only he knows the specific will for each and everyone of us. Why do people act that they know the specific will of Jesus for everyone else.

This is why we can judge others unfairly.

That was told to those who can see Jesus and they can follow him where he was going and they can hear what he was teaching. That was their only chance to know what he was teaching. Because Jesus did not write down a script or asked someone else to write down what he was teaching. And at that time they did not have electronics and pen and paper to take  notes. This was the only way to know what he was teaching by following him around and learn from him. They had to follow the one they can see and hear speaking.

Jesus did not stay in the same place he kept moving and his disciples were with him and followed him. And that's before the season of the Holy Spirit in the New Covenant.

When Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will bring to your memory everything that you hear me teach.

This is why it was important to follow Jesus and hear everything he had to say. That why he had to say follow me because they can see him where ever he was going. In the New Testament we have a different situation. We have the Gospels and the letters and the teachers of the church and they want us to follow them. And we have the Holy Spirit who knows the will of Jesus and tries to quide us and to distance us from some not all of the understanding of the teachers who are in war with one another and they agree that they need to know a lot more and to be corrected a lot more. And we have Jesus who is at war with them. Revelation 1,2 and 3 chapters.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
