Praying in tongues and its benefits.

Praying in tongues(Not referring to different known languages)!! What are the benefits of praying in tongues?? According to the bible and also personal experiences are welcome too. Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.  Thank you.

Praying in tongues or praying in one's language, the important thing is that we pray.

 

Praying in tongues would benefit if one is unable to express  one's real needs  or concerns.

For those who think that tongues is still in use, these verses should guide the use of the gift.  Bottom line, if the person can't interpret what he/she is saying, they shouldn't use the gift among other believers.  Because v.14 is true.

Agreed when done in the Assembly of other believers there MUST be an interpreter present, OR, the person giving the tongue utterance  should pray for the interpretation.....[13] Wherefore let him that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue pray that he may interpret.

Orderly manifestations of the Spirit is the rule for assembled believers. The rest of chapter 14 gives some guidelines as to what is decent and in order. Edification is the primary purpose for the manifestations of the Spirit . . . 

 [26] How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. [27] If any man speak in an [unknown] tongue, [let it be] by two, or at the most [by] three, and [that] by course; and let one interpret. It has been my experience that people who are confused by tongues, or observe the "un-orderly" manifestation of tongues quote verse 19 to say that tongues has passed away but completely ignore verse 18 that proves Paul was an Pentecostal tongue-talking Christian which I find very interesting.

[39] Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. [40] Let all things be done decently and in order.

I have never experienced speaking in tongues personally, nor have I ask to.
I talk and pray to God  in English.  God still understands English fine.
I often receive my spirit within a confirmation of being heard. Fellowship.
I pray to edify God. For healing or blessing others. He hears. He heals. He blesses.
I'm the richest man I know. To God be the Glory.

Praying in tongues and speaking in tongues is not always the same thing.  They should not be confused.

Praying comes from self and may be audible or held in silent reverence.  It is a communication with the Lord.  Speaking in tongues comes as a gift from the HS as a prophecy or revelation.

So reading above passsge its my understanding  that some of the benefits are- To edify themselves,  bcos you're not speaking to people but God, and no one understands them bcos its a mystery by the Spirit. Its for yourself during your own quite prayer times.

You can have Understanding though you are " praying ' in tongues.... Understanding or Interpreting is a Gift,like 'speaking in an unknown ( to you) language or the language of Angels which an Interpretor will be present..... There are different types of ' tongues' which simply means ' language's ....  I heard an entire sermon spoken in English by my Pastor( who only speaks English) & a guest who only spoke Spanish was there with a friend ,she was translating to him in Spanish & he asked her why she was repeating everything the Pastor was saying.... She remained silent,after service I asked how her friend liked the service and they Testified - he ' heard ' the sermon in Spanish,in his native tongue
