( dividing, Strong's # 3718):

Transliteration: orthotomeō.    Definition: From a compound of G3717 and the base of G5114; to make a straight cut that is (figuratively) to dissect (expound) correctly (the divine message): - rightly divide.

KJV Usage: rightly divide (1x).

1 Corinthians 2:7

[7]But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Proverbs 3:13-14

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

[14]For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

I'm surprised you would say that. It's our privilege as children of God to search out a matter. Nothing is trivial when it comes to His Word.

The spiritual benefit is in those that it benefits. Whether smoothing divisiveness over a matter, to eliminating doubt. We are all different in these things. For me personally, if something can smooth divisiveness that is spiritually healthy is it not?

I agree. Obviously God has us looking at everything from different angles.  I believe that God encourages us to search out a matter together.

Unfortunately you cannot go to a typical " Bible study" in a church with some of the things we are freely talking about. I believe most pastors and teachers are compromised by the spell like influence of those they think have the preeminence over them because of their " biblical roots". I'll leave it at that.

We know that the day after the crucifixion was a Sabbath. If that day was a Thursday, and there was another Sabbath on the Saturday, why didn't the women go to the tomb on the Friday? (Luke 23:56)

From my Trips to the Tomb thread . . .

"Let’s assume that Passover occurred on the fourth day of the week, which, regardless of such an assumption, would have been the fourteenth day of the first month. However, for the Jews the fourth day of the week would be our Tuesday night through Wednesday even, remember “from even unto even.” The next day from Wednesday night through Thursday even is the Fifteenth day, which would be day one the Feast of the Unleaven Bread and declared by God to be a holy convocation and a High Sabbath. Therefore, after the fifteenth day “was past” comes the sixteenth day, Thursday night through Friday even, during which the women went out and “bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him” (Mark 16:1) and then, “prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the [fourth] commandment,” (Luke 23:56). The Sabbath day was from Friday night through Saturday even."

I often refer to that as theological strongholds. People having been convince they were taught the truth, naturally believe they know the truth , and are impaired when the time comes to prove themself to be a noble Berean.

Strongholds are not wickedness or lasciviousness, that is simply sin. Strongholds are "imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against [or, to the level of] the knowledge of God."

Hello blindseeker.

The problem for this  is Days of the month begin at night. The days of unleavened bread begin in the evening of the 14th day of the month.

Two issues are going on here.

 The first issue

The days of unleavened bread begin at the end of the fourteenth day of the month, and ends after the morning of the 15th day of the month.

The second issue

Two sacrifices each day, The first in the morning, the second in the evening, day to day continually...

Unleavened bread also has offerings that must be brought each day, in the morning. These are "besides" the continual  (day to day) offerings in the morning.

So, counting evening by evening each sacrifice for each day, would be accounted to the day before.

The days of unleavened bread contain parts of 2 days of the month.

Passover begins after sundown of the 13th day of the month, as all days are Even to even, or sunset to sunset. Then after sunset the 14th day (Passover) begins. The feast of Unleaven Bread begins with a high day and ends with a high day.

The Jews combined it all together as an 8 dayfeast, but it still works as scripture states.

Lev 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S Passover.

Passover occurs on a workday, not a High Day sabbath. Jesus was the Passover lamb the next day was a high day.

Lev 23: 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

John 19:31 - The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

The days of the month begin at night, because the month begins with the appearance of the new moon. This is the civil calender days for the months.

The feast of unleavened bread begins in the evening of the 14th day of the month. It is the latter part of the 14th day of the month. Granted the feast is also commonly called Passover as well. All the days of unleavened bread contain parts of two days of the month.

Days as from morning till evening

Numb 28:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2  Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season. {a sweet … : Heb. a savour of my rest }
3  And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. {day by day: Heb. in a day }

 4  The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even;

Num 28:16 ¶  And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD.

Festival offerings each day
17  And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.
18  In the first day shall be an holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of servile work therein:
19  But ye shall offer a sacrifice made by fire for a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, and seven lambs of the first year: they shall be unto you without blemish:
20  And their meat offering shall be of flour mingled with oil: three tenth deals shall ye offer for a bullock, and two tenth deals for a ram;

23  Ye shall offer these beside the burnt offering in the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.
24  After this manner ye shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.

In Leviticus  It first lists all the feasts and what was to be offered concluding with this...everything on his day...

23:37  These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

Judaism clearly acknowledges, night before day EXCEPT when it comes to sacrifices, which is day before night..

There are ways of counting that we do not take enough care to see. With the temple gone it is difficult to see it.

Specifically I was referring to the overwhelming influence these pastors have these days regarding others with political ambitions that shape their narrative in the pulpit.

John 19:31 - The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Luke 23:53-54

53 So Joseph took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in cloth. Then he put Jesus’ body in a tomb that was cut in a wall of rock. This tomb had never been used before. 54 This was late on Preparation Day. When the sun went down, the Sabbath day would begin.

.........Passover is always the preparation day for the first day of the feast of the Unleavened Bread. And it cannot be otherwise because the Unleavened Bread feast is always the 15th day (of the first month, the month of Nissan, which also comes with another name) and the 16th of Nissan is the second day of the offering of the first fruits.

Jesus according to the scripture died some time before the end of the Passover day. Jesus died on the Passover day the 14th according to John 19:31 posted above in the quoted post by @BlindSeeker and reposted below.

,,,,,,,,because it was the preparation,

the 14th the Passover

that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day,

,,,,,,the 15th the Sabath Day and that makes the 14th to be a Friday ,,,,,

(for that sabbath day was an high day,),,,,,,,

The 15th which was a Sabath Day was also the first day of the feast of the Unleavened Bread which is always a High Day.

And the 16th the second day of the feast of Unleaven Bread is the offering of the first fruits.

The first day of the week. It's the Sunday.

.....The women reach the Tomb about 10 hours into the first day after the Sabath Day. Early in the morning with the first light of the day.

John 19:31 - The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

@Anne2 this is the schedule of the dayly morning and evening sarifice. I hope to find that helpful in what you are looking for.

Every morning at 9:am and every evening at 3:pm.

Jesus died at the same time as the evening sacrifice at 3:pm or the 9th hour Jewish time of the day which began at 6:am.

THE TAMID DAILY SACRIFICE
Also known as the Perpetual Sacrifice

• Miscellaneous Old Testament Charts

[3 hours of prayer see Mishnah Berakhot]

The Jewish day began at sundown.  The daytime was divided into 12 seasonal hours, but the day division of hours was focused on the schedule of the Tamid sacrifice.  In the first century AD the night was divided into 4 night watches of 3 hours each: (1) from sundown to 9PM; (2) from 9PM to 12 midnight; (3) from 12 midnight to 3AM; and (4) from 3AM to dawn.  A trumpet call, known as the "cockcrow" signaled the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th watch.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
