I know this is kind of a weird question for this forum but just couldnt figure out which section to put it in. But basically its a pretty straightforward question, and from my own brief experiences with my last 4 phones, one has been stolen, one lost and 2 with screen damage which rendered them inoperable(one case which i can't explain and just dont ask)

Anyway, my main point and question is regarding if anyone can actually be productive and useful(to God or anyone) in today's society without an active cell phone? Because i have been unemployed for a couple of years now and even with a cell phone i've not been able to get a job or really accomplish much of anything, so then i guess my main question is if maybe God is calling certain people such as myself to live without a cell phone or if maybe i just ran into some really bad luck? Because i am definitely NOT at all one of those "off grid" type of people and easily get very bored just sitting around twiddling my thumbs, and it seems to me that playing aound with a cell phone cannot be that much worse, so then what is really the big deal as far as a cell phone being that much of a distraction as long as you are a responsible and sensible minded person??

I think of it as a useful tool to keep in touch with people I love. We no longer keep a landline. It also makes a convenient camera.

Its an improvement over two cans and a string.

I'm not sure it is possible to survive without a cell phone but then again I didn't used to think it had an off button!

Yeah it's really what they dont ever tell you that is the weirdest or most disturbing thing to me such as whenever you are activating or resetting a phone and are speaking with a CSR who casually tells you to press and hold the "off/on" button which you could very easily confuse with volume buttons, unless you are already very familiar with cell phones in general which they are apparently assuming you are...and why are they usually always Indian speaking people, and some you can hardly even understand??

Nowadays , is that a word, ha , well, if you do online banking and others, they require you to have a phone , either to answer as a confirmation of your login credentials or text you.   I held on to my landline, until I saw that I was just paying for a service I no longer use.

If you are going to live in this digital world, then it is a must that you have a smart phone, not just a cell phone.    It is part of the beast system or some would say evolving technological world we have entered into, and there is no going back.  If you are not employed, then maybe you can get away without having one, but eventually you would be forced to as to not paying for phone calls to friends, family and even business places.  Whattsapp seems to be the communication medium now that most people are using for communication.  I am sure their is some drawbacks as to security ect, but the alternative is to pay for other service providers.

We have a landline too but never use it, only there in case of emergencies and it costs next to nothing with the internet bundle. And maybe the once every two to three years that I actually have to send a fax somewhere..

When my wife recently began complaining that her phone's battery was not charging like it used to when it was new, I said, "Remember all those glass boxes with the folding doors all  around town when we were kids that had that black box attached on the inside that you had to put a dime in to ask your parents for a ride home.  She replied,"You mean phone booth?"

Well I think it's been done, for a few thousand yrs. At one time living in the boonies we shared a party line, which ain't no fun.
Before digital I had an analog brick phone, and all the new digital buddies on the job site would ask to burrowed because their new digital cell phones had no signal even when climbing up a tree.
I have my 3rd ancient galaxy S5, cost less than a hundred, used like new. Talk-text but I don't do any social media unless face to face.

I had to have a phone in my business but am retired now so no NEED.
I have had days with no phone and really enjoyed it actually. My wife has one so in an emergency I could be contacted.
I believe it is an acquired addiction with a minimal withdrawal symptoms. Being cell free has many benefits, spiritual and physical.
People would soon learn to talk face to face again, and actually drive or walk to see a friend.

Sorry, gotta go, my phone is ringing again....default_cool2-Copy.gif.74d61280645b572cb76462ee1e35f489.gif

I don't use a cell phone, but my lifestyle is very far removed from most people's. I go for months at a time without using the phone at all, am largely housebound, and enjoy not having to leave the house more than a few times a month. That said there are still instances where the lack of one hurts. Text messages tend to be used for verification for certain things like online accounts, for example.

Personally I don't think God is trying to send any particular message about them. Your experiences with them seem to fall under the umbrella of theft and human error. There are cases you can buy that can protect them from things that would otherwise result in mild to moderate damage.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
