A new television programme has aired here in New Zealand. Specially selected psychics from all around the world are chosen and brought here to help unravel murder cases from decades ago. Cases that were never solved.

Last night the series was on an 18 yr old girl who had been raped and murdered 35 years ago. The psychic was given a description by the girl of her murderer which was put together by a police sketch artist. It turns out that the guy in the sketch was known to police and further investigations are now in action.

I don't know what to think about all this. I mean, I am really thrilled for the families of these victims because now there is a strong likelihood of closure for them. What do you all think?

Just because something "works", does not mean God condones it. People lie, cheat and steal to get ahead. It works, but God forbids it. He also forbids consulting mediums etc.

In Galatians 5, "witchcraft" is listed among the "works of the flesh," along with things like adultery, fornication, murders, etc. In the OT, we are told that "rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft," in 1 Samuel 15:23. In 2 Chronicles 33, we are told that the evil king of Israel, Manasseh, did evil in the sight of the Lord, including "enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger." (verse 6).

I had done a study on "What the bible says about Magic and Witchcraft" and this is one of the key verses that I found :thumbsup: Hope this helps :rofl:

Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Deu 18:12 For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

As for the original question, God always has a plan to get things done and to enforce judgement because of sin. They might find out who did this or they might find the wrong person. Either way, divination(fortune telling) and witchcraft is an abomination and therefore, is not right. As my mom always says, "Two wrongs don't make a right". God would enforce judgement in his own way. Any sory of "consulting with familiar spirits" is dead wrong, no matter what the circumstances.

satan uses these kind of things to make the occult look like a good thing. Contacting spirits other than the Holy Spirit is a dangerous practice. :thumbsup:

I don't think anyone has this "ability" on their own. It's either a gift from God or a tool of satan.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
