Have you seen what passes for PG lately? Even kid's shows are not safe for children. The best thing you can do is stop giving your money to the cable companies. Teach your kids how to make up games. Teach them to be creative. TV teaches against these things.

funny thing is, this house hold has not paid a dime for cable for about 11 years....... honestly, the cable still goes from the pole to the house, and that is where it stops, stapled to the house..... when i get up there to re-roof the house, that cable will be removed and rolled up and set beside the pole.....

you have just said exactly what i have been saying.... if your children go to a friends house, they will be seeing what is on cable and or their TV's......

if we do not take a stand, then who will?????

trash is heaping up higher then ever before, and we sit back and watch it, saying: it is not of my concern, that is until it shows up in our own back yard, then it becomes our concern....

murder in N.Y does not concern me, cause that is in N.Y. why should i be concerned with that/???

murder then moves to Penn, and well, that still does not concern me, for that is still almost 1500 miles away, so why should i worry about them????

murder spreads to Chicago, hmm that is closer, but still a long way away, a good 8 hour drive... no concern of mine.... i dont need to do anything....

murder now is in St. Louis cause it was of no concern of mine or others....

murder is now in K.C., hmmm that is getting close, what should I do..... nothing, for that is still a long ways away......

oooopps, we have had murder arrive in our home town, it now is the concern of the town, but it was across town, so it is still not my concern, hey, isnt that the guy they have on the TV as being the murderer?

murder has just hit my household and no one else is doing anything about it.... why????? cause there is no one else to do anything about it..... no one helpped them, so they are not helpping either.... i did not help, so i receive no help......

Television Programming is OUR CONCERN... .not just for our own children, but for your neighbors children, and your other, extended family members... not just for those that are saved, but also those that are not saved......

So lead by example and remove TV from your routine. We no longer have access to TV and it is amazing how different our kids are when it comes to gift season. There are no demands for such and such a toy because they are not being brainwashed into believing that they need it. We do show movies from the library so they can still be entertained, but it is more user friendly than commercial TV.

the availability of the access to the garbage on the TV is too easy for those that do not need it to get it.....

just like with the public schools, they give out snacks that are not healthy, they feed the kids food that is not healthy, and if a child shows up with a sack lunch they trade out what they have for junk..... and we wonder why our kids are not just over fat, but obese thats right, obese.... we feed them fast food garbage and then blame the fast food people for the condition of our kids, and we have heart attacks from our glutteny and then blame the food people for providing it....

I am not blaming the TV stations for what is being aired, i am saying we have allowed it and we need to take responsibility for it and change it......

it is up to us to do it, not just ignore it....

just like this war on terrorism, it was already rolling long before the trade towers went down, but we ignored it... we had ships damaged because of islamic rule, and we ignored it, swept it under the rug,.... we had a bomb go off in one of the trade buildings and we ignored it.....

the USA was oppressed, being taxed beyond rediculous, and a few people stood up and let it be known that we were done with the taxation with out representation, and the United States was birthed .... now we wont even stand up for what we know is good for our children..... we are again being taxed beyond rediculous, and taxed on taxes..... more taxes, increased taxes, and who is representing us???? no one, whos voice is heard? not the common folk, only the ones with the "money"..... and yet we all are sitting around having a pitty party.....

I for one am standing up for what is right, what is good and what is Gods.... as well as a future for my children and my grandchildren..... no one else is going to stand up for them, not a single person, so I will stand up for them..... If we want to put an end to the offense... we should contact the advertisers, and tell them that we won't buy their products as long as they support the show.... that is what usually is effective.... without advertisers, the show cannot go on.

however, sometimes we focus too much on things like this, and not enough on actually spreading the gospel, and showing God's love to others.

hmmm i do not like most of what is on TV.... that does not mean i have to allow it... or allow the unsaved child next door to have free access to the nastiness that is being broadcasted, not just on cable or satty either, but on the local broadcast stations, even the PBS stations.....

if you do not wish to speak out, then that is fine, you can cocoon and act as if all is ok, just cause it is ignored, does not mean it is ok..... and that nothing shold be done about it.....

you dont have to vote either, but then if a person does not vote, they have no say in who gets in office.... i know many people that gripe all the time about the way things are being run, but have never voted in the s20 some odd years they have been able to...... I have yet to miss a single election since 1977, not a single one, even while i was in the Persian Gulf..... or other places over seas......

I insist that all my family members vote.... that is a manditory duty...... i also insist that if they see something that they feel is not right, they are to stand up and do what they can to right it.... if they see someting coming against something that is right, they are to stand and face it.....

my children were taught to stand on their own to feet and to assist those that can not do for them selves.

So do you take LSD to show the acidheads how bad the stuff is? It's basically the same thing. Certainly you have to do more than just stop watching. You have to give the kids an interesting alternative to TV. I would like my kids to learn self defense and how to get the most out of nature. At first I thought that the learning channel would be good for them but I eventually found that they were learning from commercials too. That stuff is poison. You keep writing to the networks and they'll keep cancelling the shows that offend you, but when you're not looking they will just slip in some late nite porn. I've seen stuff on the family channel that was easily soft porn. That's what sells.
