Jesus is called both "the Son of God" and the "incarnation of God."

If a Christian posted on a Muslim board that Mohammad is a false prophet "And here are the proofs..." what reaction would be given?

Would the Muslims on the board answer peacefully and kindly?

Or would there be a lot of anger thrown at the Christian?

And then what if the Christian responded, "Please stop hating me."

What would the response be?

You see, as offensive as it is to your ears to hear your propher Mohammed being defamed,

it is just as offensive to us to hear our glorious Jesus being defamed (calling him a mere man, denying His death being the atonement for sin as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world," challenging His diety).

If you want to be treated nicely, then please be nice as well and not call our beliefs lies and delusional. We know you believe different than us, but to insult us to our faces like you have is not the way to have pleasant dialogue.

I understand the doctrine of the Trinity is very tough to wrap the Oriental mind around! It probably never would have developed at all if the Church had not encountered Greek philosophy, and Greek catagories of thinking. This is a way of thinking which is very different than what is found on the other side of the Galipoli Straights!

Let me explain it in some detail if you will forgive the excessive length of this post:

First, we must establish that God is a personal being; that is to say that He has the attributes of personality. The attributes which most philosophers agree define 'personhood' are Mind, Will, Emotion, and Activity. A being or entity which has these attributes may be called a Person.

In the Bible we see clearly that the Father is referred to as having Mind, Will, Emotion, and Activity. Likewise we see that Jesus had Mind, Will, Emotion, and Activity. Further the Holy Ghost is spoken of as having these attributes as well. From this we can only infer that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost ARE Persons.

What I have not yet shown here is that they are all referred to as God. Of course it is obvious to all that the Father is God. Well, the New Testament tells us to worship the Holy Spirit, not to grieve the 'Spirit of God' etc, and tells us that "God is a Spirit." From this, and dozens of other passages, we see that the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit, if you prefer) IS God.

That Jesus was referred to over and over and over again by the Hebrew God's own divine Name (encoded as the Greek word 'Kurios' by Greek speaking Jews), and that Jesus commanded us to "honor the Son exactly AS YOU HONOR THE FATHER," are potent proofs that the writers of the New Testament, and Jesus Himself, considered Him to be God. (I realize you might claim the New Testament is wrong, and that the quote from Jesus was made up....but that would be a Moslem claim, not a Christian one. We believe what the New Testament says.)

With these clear doctrines of the New Testament, I have shown that the New Testament teaches that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. But many argue that the unitary God exists in different 'modes' (I.E.: The Father, the Son, or the Holy Ghost) at different times. To answer this claim, we must see whether God operates in separate and distinct times under only one such 'mode' at a time. In the New Testament, what we find is that ALL THREE are active at the SAME TIME. The Father 'saves and forgives', the Holy Ghost 'sanctifies', while the Son intercedes...ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

The Western mind then is forced ineluctably to the conclusion that with these givens, this is only comprehensible as three persons. Yet the Scriptures tell us we have only one God, hence we speak of One God in three Persons. I do not suppose that is fully comprehensible to you, or that you would agree, but at least you can see how the doctrine developed.

Now to ask again: Since you say that I gave Scriptures which didn't mean what I said they mean, I should very much like to hear what YOU think Jesus meant when He commanded that we should "...honor the Son, even you honor the Father....." How do we honor the Father? When you have answered that, then you must honor the Son in exactly the same way, according Jesus Christ. Pray, tell me what it means to you.
