That does not surprise me at all...not at all. He's supposed to be a "preacher" not a politician.

Mrs. Mac, I'm sure some would call me "heartless" and "cold", but I believe that one can only be led astray if one allows themselves too. Of course, anyone can be tempted by alluring things, but once into them, if one does not open their Bible and speak to God one on one, but only blindly follows the "feel good" message and the masses, then that is their choice.

The truth is simple and free for the taking. The only thing needed is responsiblity for oneself, not ''following the crowd''. JMO

Before anyone wants to flame me too badly, just know that I came from a church that tried to control families and my parents went along with all of it. It would have been easy for me to continue in that as an adult. As an adult I had to think for myself. It wasn't always easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is. :t2:

Well, I believe in positive thinking, BUT NOT in the sense of Schuller and Peale, et. al. Our pastor so poignantly put it this morning in talking about such as this-superstition! We are a church who believes in prosperity, but not in the "God's gonna send you a Rolls-Royce" type prosperity. He was talking about how that some prosperity teachers will tell you that if you don't get what you ask for it was a lack of faith and you need to "visualize" what you want harder and this, he said, was "superstition" pure and simple. He was talking about why God won't answer prayers for us and he quoted the scripture about asking so to be able to spend on sinful things. The positive thinking I entertain is that I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me-ALL THINGS! I have trouble with math, but going back to college, I'm eventually going to have to take algebra which causes me dread. But, as a maturing Christian, I've came to realize that the same God who made the math professor, the writers of the math book and the people who set forth said non-real life math formulas (!) made me and I'm no less in His image than they are, so I can do it through Christ!

Personally, I don't think you deserve to be "flamed" for that response.

Each will be called to give an account, I believe, and that will be no time to point to someone else and say "they were doing it so I did it too!" They have a choice (Behold, TODAY is the day of salvation...). And it's not like we're living in a country where the gospel cannot be so freely expressed either...the truth is very easily accessible as you said.

Yeah, there is a "church" 10,000 strong out there, and yes, they are being misguided, and yes, I think it's horrible. BUT I think the bigger thing at hand is for each of those 10,000 to start to see the truth FOR THEMSELVES. Just because Schueller (or any other preacher who is missing the mark, for that matter) is off base, doesn't mean they are forced to be likewise.

(Interesting side note: my pastor and his wife toured the Crystal Cathedral while on vacation in Cali last year. When he was there, he said that something in his spirit felt "wierd" about being in that building...something just did not feel right. While it was beautiful, he sensed no presence of God in that place at all.)

This guy seems like what JEsus was warning against when He said, "What if your salt loses it's savor?"

It becomes bland and tasteless.

he has 10,000 people who like unsalted crackers, though!

I agree, we are told to discern the spirits. Obviously your Pastor did, Bill.

He is still considered by many to be a Christian Minister of the gospel, so there will be those that will be captivated by his teachings, simply led astray believing the lie. To an extent people believe what they want to believe but Schuller still has to be held accountable for his teachings. His teachings are hindering the work of God in the lives of seekers and believers.

Ya know, maybe it's just the fact that I grew up in church, but something just didn't "meet the eye" reading his book. I consider myself a grower in Christ having came back to Him two years ago after backsliding for about 6 years (and even when I was in church, I wasn't really close to God), so maybe I'm still "churched", but something didn't mesh well with my spirit in his book. Some things I simply passed off as a being able to interpret a separate passage differently, but the more I read, the less impressed I became.

I'm really afraid that Schuller, Copeland, Dollar, Hinn, et. al., are going to wake up one of these days when the church is gone and there's some charismatic leader hawking world peace, especially with Israel, and realize they had it all wrong. It's truly a shame, but I wouldn't be surprised for some of these guys to say that they were left here by the Lord to "testify" to people and lead them in! I mean, if you can't live for Him now knowing the Truth, what makes you think you could do it then? :t2:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
