My favorite is called "Sing To Jesus". I guess it's an old hymn, but I had never heard it until Fernando Ortega did it on one of his albums. Sometimes I can't finish singing it because it makes me cry.

Come and see, look on this mystery

The Lord of the universe, nailed to a tree

Christ our God spilling His holy blood

Bowing in anguish His sacred head

Sing to Jesus, Lord of our shame

Lord of our sinful hearts

He is our Great Redeemer

Sing to Jesus, honor His name

Sing of His faithfulness

Pouring His life out unto death

Come you weary and He will give you rest

Come you who mourn, lay on His breast

Christ who died, risen in paradise

Giver or mercy, giver of life

Sing to Jesus, His is the throne

Now and forever, He is the king of heaven

Sing to Jesus, we are His own

Now and forever, sing for the love our God has shown

"I can only imagine" speaks to me.

I really wonder what it will be like when we first see Jesus.

I love that song. It is my favorite Christian song!

O golly, which song to pick?

OK, here's one (I'm highlighitng the lines that ministered to me):

Road to Zion

~Petra~

There is a way that leads to life

the few that find it never die

Past mountain peaks graced white with snow

the way grows brighter as it goes

Chorus:

There is a road inside of you

inside of me there is one too.

No stumbling pilgrim in the Dark

the road to Zion's in your heart

the road to Zion's in your heart

The river runs beside the road

it's waters living as they flow

in liquid voice the water calls

on thirsty knees a pilgrim falls

(CHORUS)

Sometimes a shadow dark & cold

lays like a mist across the road

But be encouraged by the sight

where there's a shadow there's a light

(CHORUS)

Sometimes it's good to look back down

we've come so far we've gained such ground

But joy is not in where we've been

Joy is Who's waiting at the end

(CHORUS)

Steve Camp's "Living Dangerously in the Hands of God"

How easy Jesus is forgotten amid the comfort of our lives;

Our flames become a flicker and faith a brilliant disguise;

Our Sundays become a holiday; they're an empty exercise,

And the cost of real devotion seems so foreign to our lives.

Oh, Oh to gladly risk it all;

Oh, Oh to be faithful to His call;

Abandoned to grace and anchored in His love,

Living dangerously in the hands of God.

Our Lord He is a hiding place His Word is strong and sure;

Though the storms may reach around me in His love I stand secure;

So let me live like I believe it, and though my faith is prone to fail,

Though I cower under trials by His grace I shall prevail.

Oh, Oh to gladly risk it all;

Oh, Oh to be faithful to His call;

Abandoned to grace and anchored in His love,

Living dangerously in the hands of God.

There's safety in complacency;

But God is calling us out of our comfort zone

Into a life of complete surrender to the cross.

To live dangerously is not to live recklessly,

But to live righteously.

And it is because of His radical grace for us

That we can risk living a life of radical obedience to Him

You've got to walk on

For the Lord He walks with us;

You've got to walk on

Though it costs you everything.

You've got to pray on,

"For the eyes of the Lord moved to and fro

Through out the earth that He may strongly support those

Whose hearts are completely His."

(2 Chronicles 16:9)

Oh, Oh to gladly risk it all;

Oh, Oh to be faithful to His call;

Abandoned to grace and anchored in His love,

Living dangerously,

Are you living dangerously,

Yes we ought to be

Living dangerously in the hands of God.

Here is one of my favorite.. actually, this is probably my favorite other than "It is Well with my soul".. oh so many songs..

But this was the theme song at my church camp last year... Our theme was "Here am I" .. it is beign fully surrendered to the Lord and being willing to do his will... Abraham, Isaiah, Jacob.. and I think Joshua.. said "Here am I"... The Lord spoke to me that year at camp about not being the 401st Christian, but the one out of 400 who stands for what they know is right... He also talked to me about saying not to temptation... and having a devotion and prayer everyday... so many things that year at camp and it was just so amazing... Oh yes, he talked to me about my testimony at school, how I treat those at church, staying faithful... whoever it may be that the Lord has for me to marry in the future.. it was just amazing... Here is also a sight(am I allowed to post this????? :noidea: ) for when I was looking for one set of the lyrics... it isn't the best instrumentation(we had a piano and voices :20: ) but it has the music for it.. it is a really beautiful hymn that brings tears to my eyes.. God is just so good.. here it is ... http://my.homewithgod.com/heavenlymidis/songbook/here.html

I, the Lord of sea and sky,

I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin,

My hand will save.

I, who made the stars of night,

I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear my light to them?

Whom shall I send?

Chorus

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go, Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,

I have borne my people

Not sure who wrote this - I discovered it in 'The Source' abook of praise and worship songs editted by Graham Kendrick:

Before the world began you were on His mind

And every tear you cry is precious in his eyes

Because of His great love

He gave His only son

Everything was done so you would come

Nothing you can do could make Him love you more

And nothing that you've done could make Him close the door

Because of His great love

He gave His only son

Everything was done so you would come

Come to the Father

Though your gift is small

Broken lives, broken dreams

He will take them all

The power of His blood

The power of the Word

Everything was done so you would come.

This song just blesses me - every tear shed - God's got it covered!

:noidea: Great song!

I do wish more Christian artists offered songs that challenged us like this.

These lyrics ,among may other lessprintable ones, from Avenue Q never fail to go to my heart. Especially when things are none to great. It may not be Christian, but it is, I believe, a good gift from above. I will post more songs.

FOR NOW

PRINCETON:

Why does everything have to be so hard?

GARY COLEMAN:

Maybe you'll never find your purpose.

CHRISTMAS EVE:

Lots of people don't.

PRINCETON:

But then- I don't know why I'm even alive!

KATE MONSTER:

Well, who does, really?

Everyone's a little bit unsatisfied.

BRIAN:

Everyone goes 'round a little empty inside.

GARY COLEMAN:

Take a breath,

Look around,

BRIAN:

Swallow your pride,

KATE MONSTER:

FOr now...

BRIAN, KATE, GARY, CHRISTMAS EVE:

For now...

NICKY:

Nothing lasts,

ROD:

Life goes on,

NICKY:

Full of surprises.

ROD:

You'll be faced with problems of all shapes and sizes.

CHRISTMAS EVE:

You're going to have to make a few compromises...

For now...

TREKKIE MONSTER:

For now...

ALL:

But only for now! (For now)

Only for now! (For now)

Only for now! (For now)

Only for now!

LUCY:

For now we're healthy.

BRIAN:

For now we're employed.

BAD IDEA BEARS:

For now we're happy...

KATE MONSTER:

If not overjoyed.

PRINCETON:

And we'll accept the things we cannot avoid, for now...

GARY COLEMAN:

For now...

TREKKIE MONSTER:

For now...

KATE MONSTER:

For now...

ALL:

But only for now! (For now)

Only for now! (For now)

Only for now! (For now)

Only for now!

Only for now!

(For now there's life!)

Only for now!

(For now there's love!)

Only for now!

(For now there's work!)

For now there's happiness!

But only for now!

(For now discomfort!)

Only for now!

(For now there's friendship!)

Only for now (For now!)

Only for now!

Only for now! (Sex!)

Is only for now! (Your hair!)

Is only for now! (George Bush!)

Is only for now!

Don't stress,

Relax,

Let life roll off your backs

Except for death and paying taxes,

Everything in life is only for now!

NICKY:

Each time you smile...

ALL:

...Only for now

KATE MONSTER:

It'll only last a while.

ALL:

...Only for now

PRINCETON:

Life may be scary...

ALL:

...Only for now

But it's only temporary

Ba-dum ba-dum

Ba-dum ba-dum

Ba dum ba-dum

Ba-da da da da

ba-da da-da da da-da

Ba-dum ba-da, ba-dum ba-da

ohhhh-

PRINCETON:

Everything in life is only for now.

Keith Green always makes me want to cry.

Make My Life A Prayer To You

Make my life a prayer to You,

I want to do what you want me to,

No empty words and no white lies,

No token prayers, no compromise,

I want to shine the light you gave,

Through Your Son, you sent to save us,

From ourselves and our despair,

It comforts me to know you're really there.

Oh, I want to thank you now, for being patient with me,

Oh, it's so hard to see, when my eyes are on me,

I guess I'll have to trust and just believe what you say,

Oh, you're coming again, coming to take me away,

I want to die, and let you give,

Your life to me, so I might live,

And share the hope you gave to me,

The love that set me free,

I want to tell the world out there,

You're not some fable or fairy tail,

That I made up inside my head,

You're God, The Son, you've risen from the dead.

Oh, I want to thank you now,

For being patient with me,

Oh, it's so hard to see,

When my eyes are on me,

I guess I'll have to trust,

and just believe what you say,

Oh, you're coming again,

Coming to take me away.

I want to die, and let you give,

Your life to me, so I might give,

And share the hope you gave to me,

I want to share the love that set me free.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
