On sunnier days, I usually try to go outside and do some sort of chores to keep from having so much to do during Spring. It never fails that there is always wayward trash from the barrel to pick up, or stuff the dog has torn up, or stray limbs from the occassional sleet/freezing rain that moves through.

Winter sure can be a messy season for sure  Sawdust and wood chips annoy me. I don't mind pine cones so much - its the bugs that crawl out of them that makes me cringe. Do you have cockroaches? We do. They hate the cold and come prancing inside to keep warm.

Spraying the windows and doorways over summer with ripcord, stops them from coming in for up to six months.

Ronald, do you get winter visits from woodland critters?

Actually not. Our main "visiting" period is late winter (February or so) from birds like red breasted robins, cardinals, etc. who will stop by. We'll notice an occassional rabbit now and then, but our main animal, the mosquito :emot-pray: , goes away during winter, lol! We had a bout with roaches several years back, but finally (PTL!) got them killed out. However, I can't seem to get rid of ants, lol!

We go sledding  Put on our snowsuits and fluffy mittens and scarfs and go out to the frontyard (where we have a pretty good hill) or to Branchstrum park that has a huge hill  And climbing back up the hill will have you positively toasty in no time at 'tal

We always have food stocked up in the winter, because the road we live on is always the last to get plowed...and it drifts really bad when the wind blows...we also have electric blankets....we turn them on about 40 minutes before going to bed to warm the bed up and once we get in we can click them off. We also like to hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick in it....mmmmmmmmmm :P

I just put away all our winter clothes....I've kept out a few sweatshirts though, it still is pretty cold here...although the weather man promises that this week its going to start warming up.. :( I buy the big plastic containers to pack all the winter clothes in....and go through about 3 boxes of dryer sheets...I put them in between the clothes to keep them smelling good.

Love and Blessings,

Angel

To get myself ready for winter, I take vitamins to keep colds away.

I also put heavy plastic on my windows for keeping in the warmness.

I make sure my coat, sweater, gloves, hats, ect are clean so I can grab them.

I make sure I pick up more activies so I do not get bored, and start to get winter blues.

I do not like depression and winter causes it in me, if I do not get up and so something.

Just pray, and keep warm.

We had an ant nest under our back verandah. I used dishwashing liquid and water to scrub down the verandah and haven't seen any ants since. My advice is to find the nest!! :24:

There's this one dude who was on TV for many years locally as a weatherman; whenever he said it was going to do something, you expected the opposite, lol! A couple of months ago he said that there was no danger of severe weather that day and all would be calm! About 6 PM that night, we had a power outage at work from a severe thunderstorm! :)

WoW!! Brandli, thanks for this :24:

winter blues are something I totally overlooked.

I love the way that you organise for the winter - I feel a little guilty now, that I didn't wash up my winter jacket

For those of you who think you can hibernate when the kids are grown you are in for a BIG surprise... :24::24:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
