I have to apologize to everyone because of my earlier post. I didn't mean to come out as so defensive. I just didn't expect the backlash I received from what I figured as a fun type of question. I had absolutely no problems discussing this topic with my other Christian friends and it was interesting to see what Christians would do if it weren't for Jesus. I just didn't expect to offend so many people with this question and have my own faith questioned. For the record, I am a Christian as many of you know and nothing can make me doubt my faith. I only mentioned the movie because it was what sparked this question with my friends. Maybe that was wrong on my part but I do a lot of dumb things. So once again I apologize to whoever I might have offended.

Hey brother,

Speaking for myself I wasn't offended. I don't think it was a stupid question but in my opionion doesn't have much to offer.

But also speaking for myself I say "dumb things" all the time. It is only a matter of time before I put my foot in my mouth here not that I am saying you have but don't feel like the Lone Ranger in that department.

Anyway I wanted you to know that.

God bless,

Robert

The question here was NOT if Christianity was not true or real and how to deal with if we were nto Christians what would we do then, though...

it was; what if you found out it was a HOAX....(that means purposeful deceit)

and it was someone who says He is Christian actually asking what would we do if we found that it was a hoax.

It is just not a good way to have asked it.

Not really. It is not the same thing as asking what if it was not true either. But, that also is not a good question to be pondering since WE KNOW it is TRUE.

But, since it is not edifying maybe a few things that have come up in this thread a few more things should be said about why it is NOT a hoax.

Some thoughts that I think should accompany any question like this....

You know, men don't die for a hoax. People who are hiding out because their Teacher was dead, can't all (or hundreds of others)imagine Him to show up when they did not expect Him nor did they understand HE would rise from the dead., and sit and eat with Him, hang out with HIm , and be taught by Him in front of many people( whom many were alive when cannon scripture was decided and could say if it was true or not, including the decisions how to refute antiDiety herritic teachings etc)

Why were they suddenly so BRAVE and FEARLESS and ready to die for Christ, The Risen Lord?! Over 500 people saw Him and He did teach more to the Apostles (that we need to know)and they taught their deciples and they taught their students and fellow Chrsitians. Alot of it is in writing from that period of time very near when Christ lived and rose again and the apostles time was with them ,recorded in a short time ( even martyers wrote letters and they reflect openly Christ is God and Saviour, and near their time there, too. More and more I appreciate the Catholic Church for keeping track of all this vital information from the Apostles and Jesus forward for us today. We can't rightly all just go off making new religions and making up NEW explainations and anything just any old way. Not when it is all saved for us and it is undeniable Truth.

Seems like people are forgetting the same ones who decided cannon scripture have the information we need so much. The same ones who chose the books to use and keep that were already in use also explined the meaning.

Jesus did teach and did miracles after HE rose again! HE taught them what they needed to know. HE explained the scriptures to them.

Some do not understand why this is blasphemy to Christ .(movie or question to get us to think about other than serving God or believing if it's true to try to think as if it was not ttue and furthermore think on what we would DO, too, if it were if it were not true.

Asking the RIGHT questions IS important.

Some of the things said here and the lack of understanding why it is blasphemy, is sorrowful.

I believe it is wrong to be telling me to go see this movie or telling anyone to go see this movie. It isn't necessary to go see this movie to know what it is about.

Not wanting to carry on in this thread..............

name one instance where Jesus said he was God, and find a page in the new testament that talks about trinity you can't because there is none,

Hey TiF,

Being a Muslim, I'm sure you are familiar with Moses and father Abraham. Do you remember what name God used for Himself in response to Moses' request?...."I AM".

In John 8: 58 Jesus says, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM."

In John 20:28, Jesus appears to the Apostles after His resurrection. We read, "Thomas answered and said to him, 'My Lord and my God!' "

Note that Jesus does not rebuke Thomas for calling Him(Jesus) Lord and God.

Peace,

Fiosh

I would still love Jesus! I would know that even if everything said it was a hoax that really Jesus is still the truth! Better to love Jesus.......regardless.

Now this is just hypothetical. Everyone that knows me knows that I believe Christianity is true and that Jesus was our savior. But I just got done watching the DaVinci Code and my friend was like "what would you do if Christianity actually was proven to be a hoax without a doubt?" It kind of got me thinking as to what I'd do and what other people would do. I personally wouldn't change a thing. Human beings need a god and it shows all throughout history. Every culture has a god or gods because spiritually humans can't live without it. Even if it was proven that Jesus was not the savior I think I'd still worship him and consider him my God. That's just how my mind works. What about everyone else?

sowing seeds of doubt.......

if Christianity is a hoax, then we are nothing more then a figment of some one elses dream and there is truely no life at all...

What if Christianity was a hoax? Since I was nine years old I remember I made a commitment to seek the truth no matter what it cost me. I was real tired of people willingly living in deceit. I could not understand why people didn't want to hear the truth. At that time I wanted to find the answer to the purpose of life. I searched in the bible and christianity. If this was false I have always been ready to entirely abandon the bible and christianity.

Now 20, I still hold onto this same promise and nothing has changed.

I was going to add more to the previous post but different have time. This is about the Da Vinci Code.

I have a cousin who had actually read the book, The Da Vinci Code, many years ago before most people knew about it. He was really excited about it and wanted me to read it (and he also gave me a book on the gospel of Thomas). I believe he read it when it first came out (I can't recall but this feels like 4 years ago when he told me about it). He gave me the book and I somehow lost it so I never read it. We have always discussed religion, philiosophy, and meaning together so he talked a lot about what he learned from this book.

First, the Da Vinci Code is a fictional book. The preface which states that "all organizations referenced here exist" is not true; the priory of scion does not exist (research has been done on this). The argument on whether this book and it's organizations are real or not has been settled by empirical evidience. I watched this on the discovery channel; I'm strongly convinced by it but it can still be an open debate. But just limiting it to the hypothetical issues like what IF 1) Jesus was married and had children and 2) The Roman Catholic Church lied (or the foundation of Christianity is on a lie) there still would be no controversy.

1)If Jesus was married and had children.

-If Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene it would not make any difference. If Jesus has children it would not make any difference. A friend of mine mentioned "it'd be cool to be Jesus's descendants...I would have divine powers". This is just silly...most people think this because they do not understand Jesus's complete divinity and complete humanity. There is no physical "divine gene". Jesus was God incarnated in flesh...100% human and God at the same time and the spirit realm is seperate from the physical realm.

The problematic issue here is about how Jesus (the son of God) is being portrayed. People may have the opinion that our Lord and saviour should not have a wife or have children because this is not "Holy". Or a reasoning to similar to that. I don't think this would matter. Jesus (God) had to live a human life with all its suffereings and temptation and trials. It is not out of the ordinary that Jesus would have a wife and kids. The kids would simply be descendants of the Jews. To be the heirs and sons of God we need Jesus Christ as the life-giving spirit in us; these children would need to be born again by having faith in the son of God Jesus Christ too who in humanity would be their physical father (if you have a question on how people before Christ could know Christ please PM me). So we have God in us...it is like the man Jesus but Jesus had a 100% of God in Him.

2) The Roman Catholic Church lied. Anyone who knows church history (or simply history) this should be no surprise (by the way, this is not an attack on Catholicism..keep reading)...the many grievances of the Roman Catholic Church was the cause of the Protestant movement in the first place. For instance, no one was allowed to read the bible but priest and the Catholic Church was greatly involved with goverment which led to political corruption. The Catholic Church today is different (Read in Revelation 3 about the Church in Thyatira)...This prophetically speaks of the Catholic Church. Anyways, the problem here is whether the foundation of Christianity is based on a lie. Then is what we believe a lie?

The one who seeks the truth will find it. It wouldn't matter what man tried to do because God is not from the words of man. God is the great I AM. For the one seeking God, God will provide the means to reveal Himself to this seeker. The apostasy in the Church in the time of constantine, to the corruption in the Catholic Church, to the dead protestant churches, these are all times the church has gone through and that the Lord has known. WE have these two things: truth and deceit (lie). Jesus said "I am the Truth". And Satan is the Father of all lies. The Da Vinci Code is refering to seeking the truth in man but we can KNOW the Truth by seeking Christ.

I still have the same promise...if I find that something is not the truth I will completely abandon it, I have always been ready. It is interesting...you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32). Then in John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Read those verses again...The Truth is a person. It is Jesus Christ. Dear doubter, I am not trying to make a loop hole...this is simply what it is. Seek the Christ and you will know the Truth. You don't need to rely on the works of man to know the truth; just the work of God.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
