CWJ,

1. P66 exists.

Was it a forgery done somewhere around AD 100-150?

2. Which KJV do you use?

Is your revision better that the original?

3. How about before the KJV? Did God allow His Church to go without the Word of God?

4. Do you believe the English KJV corrects the Greek manuscripts.

I will stop here but you know there are many many questions.

Allow me to take a moment to apologize. I wanted to put a light spin on this one, but it seems that in doing so, this has turned into the same old debate. That was not my intention.

I use the KJV because I was led to it by God Himself. This was before I was Saved. I tried the other ones to a point, but something just seemed wrong and I returned to the KJV. This was all before Salvation or any other kind of teaching about God or Jesus.

For someone to question someone elses Salvation based on which version of God's Word he/she uses is childish and shows a lack of respect.

E4S, if you have accepted Christ as your Savior, then you are Saved, period. Don't let anyone tell you different, my brother.

My only concern with the newer versions is motive. Why are so many new versions being published recently?

I AM NOT SAYING THAT ANY OTHER VERSION BUT THE KJV IS OF THE DEVIL.

Are we really finding more and more scripture all the time? Is what we are finding scripture in the first place? Does God want other things in there?

I am afraid that the explosion of new versions is more profit driven than anything. Mankind is making a profit on just about everything now, and when something sells, you can bet that many will scamble to make different versions of the same thing.

Want some examples?;

Cola wars

Bottled water

fast food

cars

weapons

How many versions of the same thing can be produced? The sky is the limit when it comes to making money.

Just one more thought; why would a concerned publishing house print more than one version of the Bible if they believed that what they publish was the final authority of God's Word in the first place? How could Mr. publisher X say that he is convinced that version Y was the only Word of God and yet publish other versions if not his motivation being of profit? Many publishing houses are doing this and it is purely profit driven. Some publishers of the KJV are guilty of this same thing. When I notice that a company publishes more than one version, I question their motives.

The Bible is one of those things that inspires great passion on it's devotees, but , let us all keep the simple truth in sight. Jesus came and died for us on the cross.

That is God's Love for us in any language!

In His service,

t.

He ted!

I just want to say that none of my posts in this thread have been directed towards you personally. I see why people are so adimant about the KJV of the Bible (evene if I kan't spel viry guud)--it just may be the best version out there.

However....when I come across a website like this, I cringe.

And Jack Chick is pretty extreme as well.

It is things like this that make me really sad. We are supposed to unite in the fullness of the truth, not divide over what tranlsation we read.

Ted,

I think its an amazing blessing that we have so many Bible translations to choose from.

I wouldn't want just a KJV I really enjoy the NIV, NLT and my ESV.

There is no such thing as the "authoritative" version to judge the others by.

Each translation should be compared with the original Greek and Hebrew. Not some English translation.

We are not finding more and more Scripture. For example P66 simple gives us a very early translation of the Book of John and many of Paul's letters. They are not new Scriptures. The amazing thing is how God preserved the Scriptures even after they were copied thousands of times. The few scribal errors were minor additions seen in the late Byzantine manuscripts.

Bottom line....

There is not one authoitative translation. All versions (inlcuding the KJV) should be judged based on how well they translate the Greek and Hebrew into English. Thanks be to God that we live at a time where His Word is so readily available in many excellent translations.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
