Television shows;

the other day, i walked in to a house, and they had the TV on, the show was Ophra.....

this peticular show was about events that could have been totally disasterous, but the people all came out alive and in one piece.... some had scarring and a bit of disfigurment, but had recovered....

while this show aired, i listened to it from the other room, and this thought came to mind........

it seems that almost every show on the one eyed monster that lives in almost every ones house, has but one thing in mind, and that is to sensationalize the worlds tragidies.... elevate things that are negative, things that are "shocking", things to get attention....

why is there no shows that let the world know of the Miricles that go on day to day, one that elevates the Lord, one that shows that the Lord is still in power. one that lets us know there are good sameritins still in this world......

why should all these talk shows be about the trash in this world, and not about the clean events....

why not have a show that has a testimony from the man that had his house burst into flames in the middle of the night, and he and his family are led to safety thru a protected pathway to the door, while flames are completly surrounding them all..... or the woman that is protecting a child that a dog is attacking and the dog becomes as docile as a gold fish while the woman is in the area. or where the child is trapped under a garage door, that has come down on him, and when rivived, tells of the Birdies, that came and comforted him until the ordeal was over. or of the child that jumped into the deep end of the pool, not knowing how to swim, but having seen others in that same pool having fun, thought he would like to have fun also, and with no one around, and unable to touc bottom or break the surface of the water, sees a hand infront of him, grabs on and is not pulled from the water, but moved from the water to the pool side and is comforted with no one else around...

how many Christians, watch the shows where "friends" are turning against friends and family members are turning against family members on the TV for the entire world to see.....

the cut throuting the anger, deception, lies.....

people cutting people down on national/world wide television..... where people are cheating on others and bragging about it.......

folks, we ( this world today ) is in worse shape then it was in the days of Noah, or Jonah..... we are over due for judgement and punishment.......

even us as Christians, are not living up to what we claim......

I know that no one is perfect, but when we are living in such comfort, that we dont care...... we have become lazy, we have failed to do as we are instructed to do....

when aprox 95% of the work that is done, is done by about 5% of the people, this is a sad time......

it is time to let that pew seat cool down some and do some work, we have rested long enough......

are we pew warmers, with the extent of our work being is that of shouting AMEN, or Good Preaching, or Bring it on Brother?????

The pastor is the shepherd of the local flocks, it is his job to teach us, to raise us up, to equip us with the weapons of Spiritual warfare...... as far as i know, there is not a single shepherd yet, that has been able to reproduce sheep, for that is biologically unsound...... it is the sheeps job to produce the new sheep...... it is the sheeps job to recruit new sheep into the fold..... to increase the size of the fold........

we are told that we will be known by the fruit we bare, are we producing fruit? and if so, what kind of fruit?

are we of the branches that are barren? or do we have fruit on them? if we are producing fruit, is it a lasting fruit or does it spoil fast?

The Vine does not produce the fruit, the Vine gives nurishment to the branches, and the branches are what produce the fruit.......

is what we are watching on the tube, that which produces the fruit? or helps the fruit grow? or does it make the fruit rot on the Vine?

But your question here assumes that everybody watches the HELLavision.

I do not.

I don't have cable, satalite, or even bunny ears.

I keep my TV so I can watch videos and things like that, but I do NOT want to comprimise my walk with God.

We can't have a whole lotta hell in our lives and still get to heaven.

I am not saying that every Christian should never watch TV, this is a personal choice. I have made mine, while everybody else makes theirs.

There IS a show just like that. I find it on cable and it's called, "It's a Miracle" and there's another one called, "Miracle Pets".

Now the first one often has people who talk of amazing things that happened and very often they say things like, "I knew I had to pray and that ONLY God could help me!" Then they explain how God helped them.

Another story I saw on Unsolved Mysteries showed a terrible, true story of two horrible criminals who broke into and took captive a kindergarten class and it's teacher. In the reanactment, the teacher knelt down, holding several children close and prayed out loud, "Our Father, Who Art in Heaven...." and began to beg God outloud to help them.

The short version of this story is one of the men went into the men's bathroom at the school, (the rest of the school had been evacuated) and killed himself; his partner tripped the bomb accidently...an explosion so huge - it blew the classroom to bits, including the bomber...but every single child and the teacher walked out of the rubble without a single scratch or bruise.

This event took place in Arkansas and the town's people talked for the longest time about the miracle of God in that school. Several of the little children described to authorities that they saw beautiful beings in the classroom, telling them to stand back...which they did. Then the bomb went off. This account was given by SEVERAL little children....GOD HEARD that godly teacher's prayers!!! AMEN!

Miracle Pets often talks about some amazing heroics of pets..but I've heard several times where pet owners say things like "God sent that little kitty to our house to save me." Or other testimonies where a crippled, elderly lady was sure God had sent a helpful rescue dog to get help when they couldn't move.

Oh, there really are wonderful shows that testify to the amazing wonders of God....I just look real hard for them.

Whenever I see beauty or whenever I see loveliness, or whenever I see honor, virtue and integrity...I see God's hand.

Sometimes we just have to look harder to find it in the lives of others. Evil is so vastly publicized but I know the handiwork of the Master (Lord Jesus Christ) and His signature, even in the midst of darkness.

Mike: I like you're idea. I've been thinking of an idea along the same lines. A reality show (since they're so hot right now) that is actually glorifying and uplifting.

Often people who don't believe in God say things like "Look at all the tradgedy in the world and all the terrible things happening. Why doesn't God intervene?" Clearly He does.

Cats: I saw that show too!!! Weren't there images of angels on the walls, somehow after the disaster or was that a different occurance?

Artsylady: Well, in the re-enactment, they showed glowing angelic beings in the air kinda hovering and the little children looking up and hearing them speak to them to 'move back!'...which they all seemed to do without question.

Then there was a huge "BANG" and an explosion and the room blew to bits.

The school was surrounded by cops and FBI agents and everyone...including school officials...(the rest of the school had been evacuated)...

The cops and many worried parents were horrified, thinking the children had been killed or at least badly wounded.

When all the children made it out safe and sound without a single scratch, everyone just marveled.

I feel God's presence so strongly it's incredible. I'm no super saint...I mean, I wish I was...I wish I did spend enormous time in prayer each day...I don't. I talk to the Lord all day ....while making dinner or shopping...at night while trying to fall asleep but I'm not real good at being a "super-Christian"...but yet, I am so keenly aware of Him and His presence and what He's doing...it's absolutely amazing.

I see it everywhere...His signature...His Presence....His fragrance...everywhere...anyway, I'm sounding a little strange I guess but I guess I feel it so much I see it even in the presence of evil and darkness.

I perceive God's beauty and power and magesty...everywhere and at times when others only perceive the darkness. I feel like those little children; I can see the angels when they appear invisible to others, (meaning I perceive the angels and their presence).

We don't watch TV either, we stopped almost 2 years ago. Our son is too precious to have his mind poisened by all that. We watch dvd's,& videos so we're sure of what's coming into our home. We also have alot more time to spend together, uninterupted by the world. But as everything has it's pro's & con's, this does too. I'm always the last to get any news, like a couple of months ago ,when there was a sniper running loose in my county,shooting randomly, I was walking around on the streets without a clue.And I've got to admit we all miss Spongebob!

We quit television 4 or more years ago, and we have never been sorry. There are some good Christian news sources on the net that will keep you posted on the latest news and it will be the Truth, not politicised news. The 700 Club is one show that I would watch if I had TV, and there are some other Christian broadcasters out there. I too use a television only for video's, which there are some good Christians stories that are worth watching. What we take into our minds is very important and the reason God tells us to meditate in His Word all the time, and to pray always.
