I remember that the names of the pastors who were there during that time are not the ones they have now! I have caught their services on TV also and they are not of that ilk.

John Wimber, I believe his name is, has been the head pastor there for many years. The last time I saw their program on vision TV, it was still John Wimber calling the shots. I used to be a member of one of their "partners in harvest" satellite churchs. John wimber would come to North Bay quite often with his family and help the pastor with these new "spiritual experiences". It started off as a vineyard church but they split when the airport thing happened. We left that church because of all the wierdness that started happening. (quack like a duck, bark like a dog, witch hunting etc.). It became a very dark church. When my son was born we took him there to have him dedicated. As soon as we tried to hand him over to the pastor, he began wailing uncontrolabley. We took him out of the church and he calmed right down. This was one sign that this church was no longer for us. Also the pastors wife seemed to be the one calling the shots, which I thought was wierd.

I could go on but I think I won't. :emot-dance:

People are drawn to experiential things. As Christians we are not to get stoned or drunk, but hey maybe we can catch a buzz some other way. This is what some of this is about, mass hysteria is much like being high (not that I would know about either :emot-lwt: )

But of course it is all thin soil, and the true danger is for these poor souls who got caught up in that is their own journey toward Christ, how lost are they now? I feel for them because many have an honest yearning for the Lord. We see how utterly lost we can become outside of Christ, like the sheep alone against the wolves.

Also unbiblical spiritual things freak me out, as they could be literally from Satan, who will use supernatural things to mess with our heads.

I was wondering what the other users of this forum thought regarding the supposed 'toronto blessing' and also the seemingly selfish and get rich quick ministries of Benny Hinn.

To set out my own position from the outset: I am highly suspicious of the Toronto Blessing, and, maybe just a little bit less suspicious of Benny Hinn.

I try to be very cautious regarding the truth of God's Word, and how it is preached. If a 'red flag' is raised regarding the preaching of God's word, I am very reluctant to be drawn in by the 'new' way of thinking. There is not much that I hate more than the polluting of His Word.

I believe in 'spiritual blessings' in these days, but maybe some churches are going too far?

I just don't know all the answers myself. Some I know are in favour of it, some against. What is the truth?

Wow. Where to begin. You are "less suspicious of Benny Hinn"? As bad as the Toronto Blessing scam was, I am sort of dumbfounded that anyone could be less suspicious of Hinn than anyone other than the devil himself. The biggest problem with Hinn is that his entire ministry has exactly nothing to do with Christianity and everything to do with greed, excess, hucksterism and bad theater. TBN is loaded with devils but Hinn must rank near the very top of the list.

I guess somewhere in the Bible, God appointed you as judge and jury. I must have missed that passage. I have a close family member who was healed in a Hinn crusade. Medically documented. She was in wheel chair and could not walk. Could not straighten up because of degenerative bone condition. She was healed in one of Hinn's Atlanta Crusades. She got out of the wheel chair and was instantly healed. She is walking, and has no signs of the disease. Someone must have forgotten to tell God that He can not work through Benny Hinn because you do not approve of Hinn.

Meet me on PM because I would like to investigate this claim including the medical documentation. I stand by the statement that Benny Hinn is a money grubbing fraud and you can get more healing from an Indian medicine man.

What do you want to know?

Her name, address and phone number. Her doctor's name, address and phone number. Physician information showing what condition she suffered from. Subsequent medical information showing as of what date she no longer suffers from it. The doctor's statement explaining the reason why the condition no longer exists. Her former employer and current employer. The date of the Hinn show where the healing occurred. Any news articles regarding the situation. I assume such a healing would be big news in the local paper. I vow to keep all personal information confidential although I assume that if such a healing occurred all parties would be glad to share it publicly on this forum.

Thanks.

I could use a new Rolls Royce and a 12 million dollar house on the beach like Benny's!

I have a question I wouldlike for you all to truly think about.

Why did the people in Jerusalem believe the disciples were drunk?

I mean, would merely speaking another language make one believe you were drunk?

Well, whatever your opinion of Wimber, he's been dead for years! Died quite young......

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
