Just heard a man who was on a tour of Israel speaking. At the Tel Aviv airport, he noticed that all the Moslem passengers were taken to a separate line where they were subjected to a much more thorough search (or searches) than were other folks. He, being an American, instantly thought this 'racist' and asked his tour guide if this was not indeed 'prejudice.'

He said the female Israeli tour guide turned, and most emphatically said: "No. They have already proven they cannot be trusted...."

The point is of course in such situations you can't afford to trust anyone. Racial/religious profiling may seem to make sense to you, but it won't catch terrorists who don't fit into those profiles, and most groups can find operators who do not fit into the stereotypes that profilers base their work on. Also never forget Timothy Mc veigh - terrorism can come from unexpected directions!

Nope, .I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?

So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.

I can truly appreciate the purpose of PC to combat bigotry and racism and all that.

The problem is it goes both overboard and inneffective.

For example, a "nice" label is still a label that associates you with something "undesirable" in someone's eyes, so the "nice" word becomes as much an insult as the other term.

So why is profiling so evil? Perhaps it might provoke some peer pressure from the true peaceful Muslims towards the dangerous ones. Creating peer pressure works for boot camp, it works for school children, it works for any group setting. Why not create peer pressure among the Muslim community. Afer all, shouldn't the peaceful Muslims be responsible for their own people?
