If works are needed in order for us to be saved, then Christianity is no different then any other religion.

When we interject works into salvation, it places the emphasis upon what WE can do. The point of salvation is to give God the glory...you can't do that if you're a part of obtaining it.

How odd, loveroftruth, that you're a newbie and you're here to defend antz! Even more odd is the fact that your grammatical style is the same as antz! :noidea: You both love to punctuate multiple times and you both have the same problem of not always capitalizing the first letter of the first word of a sentence. So, in other words, you're not playing anyone for a fool, antz.

antz=loveroftruth=antz=loveroftruth :D

Loveroftruth was actually "truthcaster".....AGAIN. No biggie. Everytime he comes back under another name, I'll just ban him. He's worn out his welcome.

Antz,

A few comments about your last response to me:

you see... that is what i am trying to say... there is ANOTHER HOPE... after the salvation from sins which is assured through the death of Christ. AMEN!

we are hoping that we will be saved from the wrath... while in Eph 2:8 it is not a hope... it has passed... we are saved through faith. THAT IS ANOTHER HOPE... difeferent from the salvation that had been received...

No. You are entirely twisting the verse to say what it does not. Romans 5:9 points to the assurance of our salvation, which is the hope of glory (v. 2). Nowhere did Paul write that we hope to escape the wrath of God. On the contrary, he wrote that we will escape the wrath because of Christ!

this is now what i mean by saying THE WHOLE BIBLE. from the WHOLE BIBLE's point of view, did Paul put contingency regarding salvation on the wrath or not??? he did... like what i already posted it says in Phil 2:12 that a born again has to WORK OUT for his own salvation.

No. To "work out your own salvation" does not state or imply that works are necessary for salvation. You see, this is reading into the Scriptures at best, and completely misinterpretaing them at worse. To "work out your own salvation" states clearly that salvation is a personal matter that must be worked on by the individual. Those that use Phil 2:12 as evidence that works are necessary for salvation hardly ever, if at all, cite the whole verse which says, "So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much rather in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;" Paul's encouragement to the Philippians was that they continue in the faith, to work out their own salvation. To "work out" salvation means to bring salvation to its full conclusion through the operation of faith. It has little, if at all, to do with good works. Good works are the result of faith. They do not produce or sustain salvation.

there is difference on that... just try to look deeper... the salvation from sin can be lost... look...

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

you see... IF YOU SIN WILLFULLY... your hope to be saved from the WRATH will be gone...

then the other salvation is eternal... it can't be lost anymore... that is the salvation from the WRATH...

Here you are twisting salvation into something that it is not. Salvation is once and for all time. It cannot be lost. Nor can a certain aspect of salvation be lost. Either you are saved or you are not. If you are saved from the wrath, then you are saved from the wrath. Paul wrote that we are saved from the wrath. He never argued otherwise, and he never placed contingiencies upon that salvation. With regard to Hebrews 10:26, I refer you to another thread in which I explained the verse in context with the others around it. Please read it, as I don't have the time or energy to repeat that exposition here: http://www.worthyboards.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=573689 Also: http://www.worthyboards.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=573737 and, http://www.worthyboards.com/index.php?s=&a...st&p=574385

If you read Phillippians 12-13 NLT

You will read

Dearest friends, you were always so careful to follow my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away you must be even more careful to put into action God's saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him.

In verses 14-16

In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them. Hold tightly to the word of life, so that when Christ returns, I will be proud that I did not lose the race and that my work was not useless.

+++++

To me it seems that Paul has been mentoring these people-sometimes people drawl on the mentorer more than needed-some need to be reminded that to keep their eyes on Jesus (God), everyone must stand on their own. It is God who is working in us at all times!! We must be dependent on God not self in this life!!

blessings

Hi sister, I am so concerned with my in laws especially my mother in law because she is so Catholic. I know she belives in God but she is so adamant about the fact that it is our works that get us in to Heaven and over the years I have tried talking to her about our salvation and how it is a gift and promise when we have a personal relation ship with Jesus. She prays every morning the rosary (special beads with significant prayer to go along with each on, just in caseyou didn't know  but I am worried because she is such a wonderful moral lovely woman who is so generous with tithing and support and I can't get through to her that works does not give us salvation. I pray for her but it's frustrating not being able to pierce her heart into becoming a true believer.

Sometimes, all you can do is pray.

I know what it's like to be locked in a false belief - it's not easy to break.

Pray for their eyes to be open and the bonds broken.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
