I have just been reading through some of the posts again and it seems some are being hurt by what is being said so i'll back out. Christianity has been living with the immortal soul for millennia and won't change over-night. When Christ returns he will set us all straight.

Amen CJ,

You wrote:

'The soul is dead until God breathes life by His Spirit dwelling inside of us. This world will pass away but my immortal soul which is alive with the Spirit will have eternal life in the salvation God has promised!! I pray everyone comes to a deeper awareness that allows them to feel the Spirit, the knowledge that the gift of Faith is always there whether we feel it or not and to have complete trust in our Father!'

Only the indwelling Spirit of Christ, who only has immmortality, can impart immortality to the human soul who is dead in trespasses and sins and condemned to death. This is why only those who recieve Christ have life for immortality begins with the 'Born Again' experience.

Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

1:13 Which were born (born again, by the Spirit), not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Believing leads to receiving Christ within through the miracle of the 'New Birth' and thus His immortality and eternal life.

God Bless,

Dennis

Beta, Thank you for both your sensitivity to others on the matter and especially for the underlined statement above. We would all draw closer if we could somehow disgard many of our divisive views and accept that fact. Passionate as we all can be, many of us are going to be wrong in the end, and there will be no "I told you so's" happening. If we learned that it's ok to "agree to disagree" once in a while about some of the micro- topics we "discuss" we'd all grow more.

J.M.O.

Grace and peace to all,

in Christ,

To make this short
We sure have different definitions of short sister :39:

Although the Spirit calls our soul it doesn't dwell within us until we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior....The soul is dead until God breathes life by His Spirit dwelling inside of us. God Bless! Cj
I believe the above statement to be incorrect.

Genesis 2:7

(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;

and man became a living soul.

The body is dead until God breathes life into it thus giving it a soul.

By using Genesis 7:22

(22) All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

One might try to expound on this being read as "spirit of life", as in some inferior translations, but it is written as breath of life in most. Man has his soul from life being given by God.

The "spirit" I believe you speak of is received upon acceptance of Christ as Lord.

in Christ,

-C-

Now I am in a real quandary.

I said I would back out of this discussion since people felt hurt. It is not my intention to hurt anyone , but it is not what I think that matters but what God says. So at the risk of going back on my word I feel compelled to give out the Word of God even if displeasing people; Mat.5 has a lot to say about offences and how it is better to cut off and pluck out in this life than to have the whole body cast into hell. On thinking about this it becomes obvious that we will suffer for any wrongdoing or wrong concepts that need to be corrected in this life which will cause pain. So I am truly sorry to cause pain but God's Word will also heal again if we let it.

When God breathed into Adam, He became a living soul, he did not receive a living soul. Before this he was a dead soul. He received life from God. This was not just physical life, but also the Holy Spirit of God. When he disobeyed, he came under the condemnation of God, lost his spiritual life, became dead to God and under sentence of death for the 'wages of sin are death'. He lost the Holy Spirit from whom eternal life proceeds and became subject to eventual physical death, complete destruction. Even in Adam his eternal life was subject to his eating of the tree of life. The only way to be restored to eternal life was to have the Holy Spirit of God restored in him. This was done through faith in the Lamb of God when He repented of his sin, as it is done with us. All are 'dead in trespasses and sins' until they are 'born again' or created again 'unto good works' through the implantation and indwelling of the Holy Spirit through the 2nd Adam and the quickening or life giving Spirit.

1co 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

15:22 For as in Adam all die, .................

15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening (life giving) spirit.

This is how one receives the immortality that only Jesus has:

Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Here he is re-created to good works:

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Not saved by works, but by the indwelling of Jesus through the Holy Spirit, the free gift of Salvation, having been re-created a 'new creation' with 'old things passed away, and all things having been made new and all things of God'.

God Bless,

Dennis

Well, I have come to the conclusion that our differences are becoming ever more divisive the more knowledge we seem to gain. There are now more religious denominations than have ever been and where is it getting us ?

Nothing but arguments on every topic.

Mankind is still eating of the forbidden tree of knowledge Gen.2 v 17, and the results are blatantly obvious. Our self-acquired interpretation of the word of God is turning that tree to ' matchwood ' through the increasing splits caused by our own intellect. Everybody has their own opinion which will burn up like the match unrepentant man has become. Perhaps this post should be in Gen. Disc. Denom. where people are saying denominations are necessary. Yes they are if you want to have part in the lake of fire in which not one will survive.

God is eternal, man is mortal, subject to death because of sin.

1co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Man can only recieve immortality, eternal life, when the eternal, immortal Spirit of the eternal God dwells in Him. Until then he is dead in trespasses and sins and will die the 'second death' in the Lake of fire. All die the first death, whether saved or lost. Thus the need for the resurrection. All will be resurrected, some to life and some to the 'white throne judgment' to suffer the 'second death' in the 'lake of fire' prepared for the devil and his angels as Daniel points out.

Re 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Pilgrim, you have my wholehearted agreement , couldn't have put it better myself.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
