The soul is as immortal as the spirit. Both go to be with the Lord upon death.
Not disagreeing with you M.J., but can you (or anyone) offer me the Scriptures that support this.

Just the Scriptures, not any expounding or interpretation of them. I would REALLY appreciate it :P

Thanks so much

Whysoblind,

Your most recent post #87 is an excellent exposition on the difference of Life and Death, spiritually in eternity. Very good.

WSB, you wanted scripture to show that the wicked will be ashes under the feet (soles) of the saints,

please see Malachi 4 v 3. I must have listed this scripture at least 3/4 times in this topic and it just goes to show how little notice is taken in an all-out effort to berate and condemn me. I know people get hot under the collar when they have strong beliefs and the ' immortal soul ' has become totally ingrained over many centuries as one of traditional christianity's misconceptions. It will take time for people to see the light and I pray sincerely God will be with them during this struggle. Thing is we have all been deceived at some time and had to repent of having believed a lie but God is great and forgiving.

I am grateful to WTD for his true reading of scripture.

Sorry I forgot to mention Lk.16 v 23 which in my Bible reads : and in hell he lift up his eyes (the rich man) being in torment . . .

so why shout at me for quoting scripture , WSB ? I have no problem with this as I explained in my post the sense this parable makes to me. You are at liberty to form your own opinion without giving me a hard time.

That is talking about their bodies first of all. This passage has nothing at all to do with hell or final judgment (Mal. 4:3). But is actually referring to the one of the plagues found in revelation where an Angel with the power of the sun is going to burn up many people who worship the beast and blaspheme God.(Rev. 16:8-9). This is not the final judgement, nor does it destroy their souls, as we see them resurrected for final sentencing, and thrown into the lake of fire in Rev. chapter 20.

The punishment of the lake of fire is everlasting, and punishment can't be everlasting unless the subject is also everlasting.

Sorry I forgot to mention Lk.16 v 23 which in my Bible reads : and in hell he lift up his eyes (the rich man) being in torment . . .

Why do you draw the conclusion that the rich man was ever anywhere OTHER than in hell?

You quote scripture, but then you twist it to say the exact opposite of what it plainly says in both english and the greek. The passage says nothing about the dead man just existing somewhere before going to hell. In the Bible, "Hades" is the word found there in luke 16:23. Here is the definition/translation of "Hades".

Hades: Place of departed souls. Hell. Grave. Hades corresponds to Sheol in the Old Testament.

So in reality, your "in the grave" would still be in hell, being tormented.

BTW, caps is for stress, so don't take it perosnal if I capitalize a word.

Yep!

I can see that your understanding of scripture is entirely different from mine so I will leave you to it WSB.

Christian, there is no scripture to say the soul goes to be with the Lord when we die.

Only the spirit returns to God Eccl.12 v 7

Christian

Beta believes that the body and soul are one and the same instead of two parts. far as I can tell from what she has posted she believes man is only body and spirit. A two part being instead of a three part being body, soul, and spirit.

Also that the body/soul will be eternally vanquished without a trace for all eternity with no eternal torment and we the saints are going to walk on their ashes that is what Beta believes "but" the spirit goes to God though.

I'm still not sure of your intentions, I do however think that you are crossing Physical life with Spiritual life and are not being quite clear on what you are trying to say.

Peace

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
