Nothing wrong with them!! I was blessed to be raised in that kind of lifestyle..country-small town way of life. I had parents who could take anything that happened in our daily lives and teach a lesson on it .

Daddy worked and Mama stayed home with us kids and my Daddy's Mama , she lived with us until her death. Mama went to work when Daddy got sick and had to retire, and then he was always home with us..different but I was able to spend a lot of days sitting under the pecan tree shelling peas or butterbeans or just talking with him and those are some of my favorite memories :21:

We lived about 3 miles outside a really small town and the little country Church we attended was set back in some trees across the road from our house and we all walked to Church together on Sunday mornings. This wasn't 50 years ago either just about 30 :P

I know it sounds too perfect and there were problems and trials as there always are in any life...but I was so very blessed to have the upbringing I had.

I tried to do close to these same things with my kids, some times I feel like I suceeded , sometimes I feel I fell short.

I know it seems to be harder now days to make the time my parents did with us. Or maybe I still look at it from a child's perspective not realizing how hard it was for them.

Okay enough said ..I'll hush now :21:

Women in the house and the men out at work? All-white suburbs?

Sounds good to me. How about having the freedom (financial and otherwise) to live as you please, where you please? If I choose to live in an all white neighborhood, there should be no problem with that. Or vice versa. It would be nice if women had the freedom to either work at home or not.

when a mother works, she tends to carry the work home with her. the emotional baggage. she's distracted. she's concerned about what's going on at the office or wherever. she's on call to fill in when someone else can't be there. and even if not, she is still carrying work home with her in terms of stress, and emotional distraction. i'm twice your age, if your nickname indicates your age, and have yet to ever in my life meet any mother who worked full time outside the home who did not bring it home. that includes myself, and my mom, and every friend, acquaintance, and relative that i've known in my life. no matter how much we want to be, we can't all be super-mom. in fact, the only way to be super-mom is to be a super MOM to the kids that know that they will always be her first and foremost priority, no matter what.

Another thing that brings great stress to a home with a full time working mother is the lack of TIME. Every morning is running around trying to get everything together, finding a child dawdling when he/she should be doing something to get ready, losing patience with the child, etc. Then coming home from work in the evening (after a frazzling day at work) to see the morning rush mess still there, feeling exhausted and having no idea what to make for dinner. My observation in these households is that dinner has a chaotic feel to it leftover from the day and knowing that there is a time crunch. Then there is dinner clean up, going over home work, maybe taking a child to gymnastics or something, then a little time in front of the TV, then getting everyone ready for bed and then collapsing only to start it all over again the next day. Dividing up your loyalties between a full time job outside the home and your family really truly does cut a huge chunk out of bonding/nurturing time with the family. It is a huge price that the whole family pays

But why?

I get the freedom to choose how you live thing. Once again, every family should be able to choose what works for them. It was the last bit that got me - again, freedom of choice, but how is an all-white neighborhood better than a comparable neighborhood composed of residents with a diversity of backgrounds, ethnic, cultural and otherwise?

Okay, I get it then. But choice or not, I personally see something wrong in deliberately choosing an all-white neighborhood. That wasn't the point though, so I'll let it be.

It has to do with preference.

First, let me say that I don't live in a neighborhood. I have chosen to live in the High Desert, my closest neighbors are miles away in either direction (not counting the various and sundry illegals that cut through my fence and camp out from time to time).

I grew up nothern Viginia in a very diverse neighborhood. Being Jewish, I was surrounded by Jews; but the Italians were one block over, the Poles were two blocks south and the Irish were a couple of block in the other direction. I have absolutely nothing against any minority or culture, as long as they are law abiding and respectful of my beliefs and freedom. However, as I said, it has to do with preference. I may prefer tall men over short men. I may prefer to associate with educated people rather than with ignorant people. I may prefer to be surrounded by people of my own ethnicity because it makes me feel comfortable. Who cares? My point is, we should all be able to associate with whomever we please without being called "racist." If you walk into any college cafeteria, you will see blacks eating with blacks, people from Turkey eating with other people from the Middle East. It's called "freedom of association," and it seems to be allowed for everybody except white Anglo Saxons, who are forced to mingle with people different from themselves or be seen as racist. I believe in liberty for all.

I should hope that the word "prefer" wouldn't ever enter into it at all.

Why not? We all have preferences. If I am not hurting anybody and nobody is hurting me, what's wrong with preference (don't take that to an illogical conclusion, by the way, we're talking about with whom we assoicate, nothing more)?

Yeah, I think it's actually very relevant. The fifties "ideal" versus what was actually going on.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
