Justin you are making quite an assumption here, a ridiculous one really. Either one that says that you have been truly indoctrinated into believing that the PATRIOT act is "necessary", or one that shows that you are incredibly naive.

Please attempt to answer this question, do not just ignore it and believe what you want to believe. Also quote the specific clause in the PATRIOT act that says that this "terrorist" was foiled with the aid of the PATRIOT act and it would not have been possible otherwise.

Now a direct quote from the article says: "By using an undercover agent, confidential sources and physical surveillance, the JTTF was in position to continuously monitor Shareef's activities

This, of course, would have been perfectly possible and legal prior to the passing of the PATRIOT act in October 2001.

Very good points, Butero. I would also be interested in what rights Buckthesystem has had to give up since the Patriot Act came into effect.

My understanding is not what rights have been lost now, but fear of what rights could be lost later on - i.e. when the government determines Christians are a threat to America.

The same types of people that object to the Patriot Act are the same people that are so wrapped up in big government consipiracies, that they can't see the reality of it all. Someone made a comment about, what about in the future. . . .

Give me a break. People have been afraid of the future for over 200 years.

Do you know what truly alarms me? It isn't the patriot act. It's all the other socialist supreme court rulings we've had to endure lately.

Loss of parenting authority

Loss of respect for human life

"reproductive rights" (apparently a woman's personal decision is more valuable and important than the life of an innocent.)

Social programs

The liberalism within our education system, both grade school and advanced education.

It helps prevent terrorists from taking innocent life within our country,

Big government is a big problem. This is a bipartisan problem. Criticize the Patriot Act if you desire, but you will look like a hipocrit when you support liberal social programs as well. Why is it that some people keep sqawking on about their rights.

The gays screamed about their rights to have sex among themselves.....and the homosexual reform bill was passed in our country

Unmarried women screamed about being able to murder their unborn babies.......the abortion bill was passed.

the gays wantetd to be able to have same sex marriages.......another bill was passed, the civil union bill.

the street walkers screamed about having the right to hawk their bodies on the street........prostitution was made legal.

the teens wanted the freedom to go out binge drinking and vomit all over the cities and police cars and cells...........the legal drinking age was lowered to eighteen.

And yet when the authorities want to help us to be secure in our homes Buck and a few others cry foul. HuH! it's okay for the govt to protect us so long as they dont take pictures of the undesirables and rogues and terrorists murmering up dark alleys or tap the phones of those who are suspected of skullduggery.

When you lose the right to worship the Lord and pray in public...........then you will have something to worry about.
