While it is certainly true that

life is certainly not devoid of language, violence, or sexuality.

Most of us, even in the world today, do not go about advertising and/or exposing our sexuality: most of us find that sexuality is a private issue. Why, then, must it be considered entertainment?

As far as violence, most of us avoid that, too. Why, then, must it be the drawing card for certain segments of movie-attenders? What are they lacking, that they are so drawn to violence?

Regarding language, the movie industry would have us believe that vulgar language is common -- rather, acceptable and commendable! It is none of these!

As an older woman as well as an old movie buff, I have watched as the movie industry has led us down a trail of indecency and called it "entertainment." It started in the '20s, when the movies (to me) could be sickeningly shocking at times -- the stuff you would not watch under any circumstances. They have continued to throw this stuff a people ever since!

My husband and I saw an ad for a couple movies on a DVD the other day. The movies they were advertising were rated PG-13. What did they show? Anything uplifting? Something funny? No. They showed sexual scened and foul language. THAT is the drawing card to the public. Manyy do not desire the pure, the lovely, the things of a good report, or THOSE things would have been the scenes they showed. That night, I told him, "PG-13. Hm-m-m. Looks more like R-rated to me."

The things that are now PG-13 are what once were considered adult-only, by those of conscience, at one time.

Before there was Bruce Willis with his Die Hard movies, there were the great Arenas where the Gladiators fought and died (actually died...not this fake stuff). Before there was "Sex and the City" there was palace gossip, there were harems, and there were seductive live dancers (which we also have today). Before we were exposed to violent movies, we made guns with our fingers as children and played "Cowboys and Indians." I'm not saying violence or adult content are right or should be ignored...I'm just saying none of us should be surprised that it's what the public wants.

My husband and I always talk about going to a movie, but we rarely do it. There's always a bit of dread in relation to going. At home, I tend to stick to the History Channel, National Geo, and Animal Planet. Hey -- Dog Whisper rules! Especially considerring the fact that I have been bitten so many times I lost count.

Some of the movies that they are cranking out now are so violent. The new Christmas movie this year...Black Christmas. Just the previews made my skin crawl. I don't know who is worse, the ones who make this trash, the ones who promote it or the ones who go and see it. Sometimes I wonder what makes people go put their hard earned money on these things.

I'm not so sure any one should not watch something just because it has a lot of violence or things in it. I mean, I personally suggest people avoid pornography and nudity like the plague but if people don't wacth violent movies they're going to be really screwed up and incapable of dealing with everyday life.

I really does warp people to not watch these sorts of things. I mean, some people who can't as they grow up completly lose perspective and rebel against God and others become easy prey for spiritual traumatization. I meqan how can a person be expected to deal with even the slightest of life's tragedies or horrors unless they're thouroghly de-sensitized.

Plus I've noticed that people against watching violence or anything on TV usually drink a lot and/or abuse the people closest to them in a self rightious and damaging fashion, quite cantradictory to supposed normal christian behavior.

I'll bet you guys are all going to crawl out of the wood work now and try to bash me into shape with your words of anger and superiority.

Well, it didn't happen with either of my children: both are serving the L-rd. We all have a personal society that varies from others' societies, but this kind of thing simply is not normal in mine.

Sorry -- the strongest thing I drink is Market Spice tea, and I have been personally in the war against abuse since I was age 22.

I think it is very important to keep your children from seeing alot of this filth at an early age, but we must always remember that it is not what goes in a man that defiles him, but what comes out.

We can watch anything we want, as long as we only produce good.

If I listen to a song with a cuss word in it, it doesn't matter. If I listen to the song and then proceed to use the curse word, I would definitly be in the wrong.

Now I honestly could not see a movie with nudity in it and keep my mind pure, so I try my very best to avoid such movies.
