By the way, how often do you worship God in the shower?

Seriously? Everytime I shower. I sing praise songs, and then pray for

the rest of the shower. It's a time when I'm alone, and can tune out the

rest of the world. Worshipping doesn't have to be done only on Sunday.

Worshipping Christ is (at least SHOULD be) more than JUST on Sundays!! Heaven help us if that's the only time we worship. It should be a daily routine, nay... daily honor.

When my husband and I worship God (most mornings), we come as we are: he in his work clothes, me in my jammies (it is 3:45 am, mind you).

What's the hang up on clothing?

With that said, when worshipping with other people, I do not think we should make them stumble if it focuses on the curves of our bodies, or shows the top of our boxers/thongs :noidea: BUT that goes for ANY time we leave the house! Not just when going to church.

This thread has got to be one of the biggest deals for a non-issue that I have ever seen.

I am not sure what the big debate is here.

Dress for what is appropriate for the type of church that you attend. If you attend a church that is formal and very traditional, then dress as best as you can. If you attend a church that is more contemporary and casual, then dress casually just like everyone else is in your congregation.

If you think a person ought to dress up for church, then find a church where people dress up for church. If you think that it does not matter, then find a church where people dress casually.

I mean what is the big deal?

Ya know not all goths wear straps or chains on their pants and such, some goths wear Victorian style clothing, velvet, lace, ect. very cool and elegant looking clothing, so there's your gothic "best" lol.

To some extent, I agree with you, and in other ways I don't. I personally don't consider this a non-issue. I do agree that this is a free country where people should be free to worship as they choose, whether that be formal or informal. The problem I have found is that when you find a church where the people believe in dressing up for church, you will find people that don't believe in it coming in and trying to force you to conform to their way of thinking. If you don't, rather than go to the many churches up the street with signs up stating "Contemporary worship, casual dress," they try to force change on yours. Many times I thought of putting up a sign saying "Traditional worship, formal dress," just to make a point.

I guess it depends on the church. More liturgical parishes are not going to change their style of worship for anyone. They are what they are. More evangelical churches I guess do tend to try to accomodate newer members, and thus may get more casual. I think a lot of those churches are scared they are not going to attract new members without going to a casual / contemporary service. I don't that works at all though. Either someone is going to attend a particular church or not. I mean think about it. If someone visits a Lutheran Parish, then they are expecting a traditional service. If someone attends a non-denominational evangelical church, then they are probably expecting a contemporary service. Some types of churches only lend themselves to certain types of worship. For example, there are not to many formal charismatic churches. Conversely, a contemporary mass just looks ridiculous.

Merry Christmas

I think the premise would be that we don't wear our "worse" dress rather that we respect God and HIS temple enough to show our respect. Wear what you have but remember, you're not there to make a "fashion statement." We there to show reverence to God and thank HIM for allowing us another week on earth and fellowship with HIS people! Do you agree?

Who decides what is nice?

My face and hands are clean.

I think I look nice.

But what, I'm not in a dress, so I don't glorify God?

I'm being disrespectful to God?

Explain to me what "nice" is.

I don't wear a dress either :noidea::21:

I do try and look sorta decent though - please no one ask me to define 'decent' :noidea::thumbsup:

I would have to ask the poster, " Why do you dress at all?" Why do you feel you have to wear anything? I have seen scripture that addresses this topic , as far as reverencing God/church of God, but I'm sure it may take time to locate it. No one is saying that you have to wear your finest clothing. And you are correct to assume that ANYTIME you underdress, might offend God> Are we to assume that you might be wearing the latest fashing where your pants are nearly falling down if you don't hold them up. If so, you might want to know that if you find that offends many of God's people , it probably offends God, because it is God who is showing your fellow brothers and sisters that it can be indecent and unappropriate dress for most occassions. Let me ask you? If you agree with this type of dresswear, why would you think people have the need to expose themselves or their undergarments?

Blessings

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
