There's old covenant and new covenant, and I understand that, but how much of the OT law applies to me?? Should I not eat pork? Jesus said he wasn't doing away with

the law, so this one kind of trips me up a bit....

Here are some verses out of the bible concerning foods. Off hand I don't recall where I got these verses, except to say that they are from Paul in the New Testiment. Perhaps this will help you concerning the food you eat.

19We should try [a] to live at peace and help each other have a strong faith. 20Don't let your appetite destroy what God has done. All foods are fit to eat, but it is wrong to cause problems for others by what you eat. 21It is best not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else that causes problems for other followers of the Lord. 22What you believe about these things should be kept between you and God. You are fortunate, if your actions don't make you have doubts. 23But if you do have doubts about what you eat, you are going against your beliefs. And you know that is wrong, because anything you do against your beliefs is sin.

yes and no.... God created the law... but when Jesus comes on the scene he accuses the Pharasees of forgetting the basics like love and forgiveness and mercy [see Matt 23]. It's important to be morel [i mean who would disagree? surely morelity is as important as immorality is hazardess]. However... we can become so law orainted that we forget the basics. The law is a map of sorts and your guide is love. Every move you make should always have love's "ok". Follow the law yes... but do it not purely for morelity but more so for love.

Peter's vision in Acts 10:9-23 comes to mind here. I know that the vision was telling him to take the Gospel to the Gentiles. But verse 15 says "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean". I know also for a fact that it is condemned for us to eat food offered to idols and other gods. Personally, God made the pig and whatever He made is good and perfect. I think this is something you need to discuss with God. He's the only one that's going to be able to convict your heart.

God Speed.

The Fulfillment of the Law

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Here Jesus is talking about fulfilling the law. The law also had prophetic messages regarding him. I believe this is what Jesus meant about fulfilling the law and not abolishing it. (See below)

Luke 24

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."

37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" 42They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43and he took it and ate it in their presence.

44He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

If he meant that we should obey the law this would contradict

Romans 10:4; Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

Galatians 3:23-25; Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ[h] that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law

Ephesians 2:11-18 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)

Some of us seem to pick and chose which laws we're going to continue to follow from the OT. While others seem to disregard the OT altogether.

I agree with the poster that says we need to ask the Lord. For me, I need to observe the feasts for example because it is not being legalistic but as a time to remember how God moved in the past.

These laws are noahidic laws and are laws given to mankind. their not levitical and pertain to jew and Gentile alike. Other than these no other OT law matters as they have been fulfilled.

The seven laws listed by the Talmud are[6]

1. Prohibition of Idolatry: - You shall not make for yourself an idol.

2. Prohibition Murder: - You shall not murder.

3. Prohibition of Theft: - You shall not steal.

4. Prohibition of Sexual Promiscuity: - You shall not commit adultery.

5. Prohibition of Blasphemy: - You shall not blaspheme.

6. Prohibition of Cruelty to Animals: - Do not eat the flesh of a living animal.

7. Requirement to have just Laws: - You shall set up an effective government to police the preceding six laws.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
