Both my parents were Jehovah's witnesses, during the war years (WWII). My dad instilled in me from a very early age the concept of God, for which I will be always grateful.

Obviously, I don't agree with their philosophy, having studied many religions over many years. They are plainly and simply wrong, just like the mormons.

I was born again in my teenage years. I know that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of mankind, and that you must be born again....a fact which the JWs seem to overlook, claiming that it was just for Nicodemus.

Nevertheless, I think that a lot of JWs are sincere in their search (many...not all...)....I say this because I was just reading in the Daily Mail about a so-called devout JW female who adopted kids over many years and subjected them to systematic physical abuse. Do a search on the Daily Mail newspaper for today and you will know what I mean.

Also, the JWs espouse a 'perfect family life'. I have never encountered a JW who has a 'perfect family life'

Ah, well, at least they are trying, for the most part, I suppose. They are just deceived. Pray for them.

When they call here, which is not often, I try to point them to the truth of Jesus being the only Saviour.

Dear Cobalt,

I can understand what you are talking about in all of this and about Mormons, also..

Let me clarify, I am not saying that Northern Lass intentioanlly tried to huet me , she didn't even know all of this about me. I am not saying that at all. ~~~"I am saying it is not a waste of time."~~~~

I also have friends who are Mormon, feel same way, they need Jesus.

One can open a door and be kind or try. These cults depend on people treating them bad at the doors, so they continue to feel like that canot and never will fit in, alot of rejection there, that anyone can simply be kinda nd speak truth to them at some level. . Again when prayerfully asking God to lead ,we can trust He will and prepare.

Blessings,

elkie

Elkie ..I do understand your pain but it can also be very frightening when you get a group of around 10 or 12 standing on the pavement outside your home whilst 4 or more come and knock on your door ....some of them are polite and although most of the time they are "pushy" they will go if they are asked to do so but I have also seen far too many who will become very verbally abusive if you give them even half an opening ...do read what Silent Prayer has posted.

My children always complain that I am putting myself " at risk" cos I dont stop to think of the danger of speaking my mind ( I hope most of the time with kindness but I am sooo far from perfect  ) but I guess I am a bit less cautious than I should be ...it helps to see it from both sides :emot-hug::emot-hug::emot-hug:

Dear ladypeartree.

I am still reading posts here right now, I did see silents and I knw there are some better ways to deal with that and education in it would help immensely.

Please do not think I have not seen it from both sides. I have more than most. Not only seen it; I have lived it, from both sides!

There are ways to disarm the difficulty in speaking to them and to not let it go to arguement.

It might interest you to know why it upsets them so and learn about them at least.

I am the one who has lived both sides and I can understand particularly well.

The very least kindness ....

Blesings,

elkie

Onethings that helps, if you ask them to keep to one subject at a time. Then when they do the jump around from subject to subject without fully exploring even one at a time thing, you can remind them you both agreed to talk of one subject a ta time, make a note and say can talk about that later, and go back to complete thoughts on one subject at a time.. far more likely to get somewhere one subject at a time.

I cannot possibly teach people all the double think, the loaded language, the brainwashing nor the ways of levels of deception they deal with. I know Christ can free them and they are worth learning about to teach them in love.

Anyone can learn to help untwist at least one scripture and be kind. I know sincere jws are afraid of Jehovah that is why they fear to pray to Christ and they need to understand Biblical Christ.

Anyway, I am going ot go for now, I know that many are sincere and many are not. as in most peoples.

I am not saying anyone is trying to upet me or hurt me, I am saying that anyone can learn to help them,if they care to and learn the how and why it hapens like it does at the doors in their convos.

I have lived on both sides and know it well.

Blessings,

elkie

...got to rest now been up so late. blessings to all.

Another important thing:

You need to know the enemy. Study what they believe and make sure you know unwaveringly what you believe! If you have any chinks in your armour, they will certainly suss it out and the enemy, the devil, will use it to his advantage, causing doubt in you. Dealing with well-rehearsed cult members is a hard job, and unless you are steadfast and strong in your faith, it is wise to avoid confrontation.

I talk to them.

My mother in law is JW. She and I agree on so many points. . .

It's never a waste of time to talk to anyone who really wants to discuss the Word of God.

Elkie, of COURSE I didn't mean to offend you and I'm sorry if I did. However, I was talking about one particular episode, not making a general statement. My husband spent ages trying to talk to 2 JWs on ONE occasion (the one I was referring to), who didn't budge an inch and who appeared to not be listening to a word he was saying. It certainly SEEMED that day to be a waste of time, though I accept that maybe more was going in than appeared at the time. They also seemed to be putting a lot of energy in trying to convince HIM and that was certainly a waste of time!

I am also ALWAYS polite with them, whether I just state I am a Christian or say something more.

LadyP - I like your suggestion about praying with/for them. Might try that!

Usually, when I had the chance to talk to them, the mention that I am Baptist would cause them to leave.

Northern Lass, we can never know what someone is hearing or understanding. A frequent prayer heard in our church is that the Lord will overcome the speaker's [teachers] faults and sins and allow the Truth of the message to be heard and anything that is not of the Lord will not be heard. God causes ears to hear and hearts to be softened to the Truth and sometimes we don't see the fruit of that, maybe in Heaven. :emot-hug:

When we lived in the city we used to have a couple regulars, but once we moved to the country they don't come. I don't know if there just aren't any out here or if they just don't do that here. I think some came by right after we moved and my husband spoke with them. They haven't been back.

The important thing that we need to get across to these wonderful people is Christ's divinity. The blood transfusions, or 144,000 in Heaven is a non-issue till they realize that their version of the Bible has been altered and the truth that Jesus Christ is God not "a god." It doesn't do them any good to believe in the inerrancy of their Bible's when the Word has been changed to fit their beliefs. Focusing on Christ's divinity is the most important part of a conversation with them.

I take their watchtowers. I read them. Most of the time they are about the end times. Or why do all these bad things happen? They are very focused on that. My mother in law used to have them in her house, but now that I think of it, she doesn't have them laying around anymore.

We could take a lesson from the JW's. They are not shy about sharing their belief with other's. It may not be a way for us to get to Heaven, but we are not only responsible for ourselves are we?

I would caution anyone who would accept their literature and even read it, and I would caution anyone to not have it in their house.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
