i'd bet that those who are waiting while their child is in surgery are venting their frustrations and quite likely saying much of the same things people here are saying.

those who have already lost loved ones probably are too much in grief right now, but i'd bet they will soon also be saying the same things.

do not make the mistake of thinking those of us who have not lost anyone in this tragedy and who are already discussing this are not grieving for the lives lost. that's WHY we are discussing it. because we ARE grieving. that is true of those of us who are on either side of the debate.

Whatever, have it your way.

If you want to debate the politics of the issue, instead of finding a way to help the families or the community, so be it.

People are more concerned with their "rights" than they are with what Christ would have them to do.

Hey Pizzaguy: I don't need help, because I won't kill anyone. But I am not crazy just because I DON"T LIKE GUNS!

The death toll is at 33 and rising.

As usual, I feel like there's something I should or could do... but what's done is done. What I can do, though -- what we can all do -- is pray.

Let's pray for the families of those who were lost, and those who still may be. Let's pray for the family of the shooter. Let's pray for the community and for the law enforcement that has to deal with this. Let's pray for the survivors.

And while we're at it, let's pray for the people responsible at VT -- had they acted appropriately after the first shooting, chances are very good things would not have happened as they did. But they didn't, and it did. I feel there's a very good chance some people will -- and probably should -- lose their jobs over this. But at the same time, the guilt must be insurmountable -- so let's make sure we remember them, too.

Amen :emot-hug:

So, other than pray, what can we do?

I think we almost sit at a sort of loss... we can pray, and sympathize (maybe even empathize), but other than maybe sending our care somehow, there isn't much else we can do other than one thing.... and that is reflect on what happened/what didn't happen and try and work for a better tommarow...

aside from prayer, we can contact congressmen, senators, and state representatives in support of laws that you feel would provide more security.

I heard about the shooting and experienced the same feeling as I did during the reports of Columbine, the MN shootings, the Amish shootings and all the others...an overwhelming sense of grief and loss. These are the times when my spirit doesn't even know where to begin to pray....families who have lost loved ones, victims in pain. I believe these are one of the moments spoken of in Romans:

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (NKJV)

I have to just turn to my Heavenly Father because I know no matter how out of control the world spins, He is there and He is in control even when we don't understand it.

AMEN!!!!

Thank-you Animal Farm!

31 families are in mourning over senseless deaths of their children. Others are hoping their children pull by without serious consequences. Maybe now isn't the appropriate time to debate whether or not gun control caused this.

Some of these parents probably just sent their kids away from home...haven't seen them since Spring Break or winter. It has to be hard on the parents, getting used to their child being away, and then hearing that your child died in a shooting. We should pray for the families and healing at the school...leave the debate for later.

I so agree.

"Our intervetion" in this situation wont do a whole hill of beans. But if we join together and cry out to the Lord for His intervention - then we give this situation of to Him to take charge. And that will make a difference.

So, other than pray, what can we do?

If a door opens for you to minister, take it.

But please do not discount the "ferverent and effective prayer of a righteous man."

If the Christians do not repent and intercede, who will?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
