River mentioned Sanitaire, which is good if you get the industrial version of it...it does a real good job.

My husband brought into our marriage a Panasonic vacumn cleaner which he's had for years. I never even knew they made vacumns...but it works fantastic.

I personally can't stand Eureka brand. It gets clogged too easily and it's a real problem if you have new carpet where the fuzz comes up....it just clogs up the machine and doesn't go through.

So I don't advise a Eureka.

I still like the Sanitaire myself...

You can get a really quality industrial strength Sanitaire at those little mom and pop vacumn stores in strip malls.

Those little family vacumn businesses usually sell them used and they work great ...that way you save money.

Angels, you definately get an award for vacumning every day. LOL

I've had dirt devil, Hoover, Eeureka, Kenmore......every one was a waste of money. Not enough suction, hepa filters constantly falling off etc.

Several years ago I bought an 8lb Oreck and I've never looked back. It was expensive, compared to the other "Walmart" brands, ($400.00), but it was the best $400.00 I ever spent. I will never own anything else. I also got a smaller vacumn with the deal that works great also. I vacumn the floors with the Oreck and then go around with the smaller version and go along the baseboards and underneath furniture and such. I highly recommend it.

Kirby is a good brand, but they are built like a tank!

Have you ever lugged one of those up 2 flights of stairs?? I about DIED!! My aunt has an old victorian house in Great Falls, Montana, and I was staying there so I was helping out. The vacuum was on the bottom floor and the area I was to vacuum was the top floor where the bedrooms are. That was the worst experience in my life!

Edited to add:

But if you can find one around today, they clean really well!

Edited to add AGAIN:

We have a built in vacuum system. The pipes are inside the walls of our house, and there are 3 outlets where you plug in a long hose which attaches to the vacuum attachment, but it also include other attachments. All the dirt going into the garage where there main vacuum part is. A simple canister contains the dirt, we empty it about once a month. The vacuum is so quiet, too. Mother could vacuum on Super Bowl Sunday and we wouldn't even notice. We also have a Hoover Steamvac for a deep clean. Both are very fantastic products, and I'd recomend them over all other vacuums available.

Andrew,

Kirby was like the official vacuum cleaner of Radio Shack corportation when I worked for them back in the mid-late 90's. Any store you went to, it seemed they had a Kirby!!! The things had to be at least 50 years old, built like a tank, but like a Timex, kept a lickin' and kept on a-tickin'!!! Heck, you could easily get your exercise in for several days just by pushing those things!

Ronald - Amen to that. I was so tired from pushing and pulling it. My aunts is very old too. Probably 50 years old, maybe a little bit newer than that. They are, indeed good machines!

I always thought I'd like to have the new 'robot' vaccuum that works by itself. Just turn it on and leave the room and it circles the room. It has sensors that make it stop at stairs and goes around walls. I think it was about 200 bucks, which I didn't think was bad, but I don't need a vaccum yet - no carpeting. I looked it up on epinions and the responses were quite favorable. I think the name of it is 'roomba" or something like that.

I tend to lean more towards hoovers myself. They seem to last longer than most do and if you get one with a hepa filter ( as must if you have allergies) the filters are cheaper too. The best one so far I have seen is the bagless system in which you empty the dirt from a cup.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
