Well, it all sounds good on paper, but logistically, it's impractical.

If what you have suggested is truly the case, AK, then you probably won't be hiring many illegals, because from what I've experienced, most of them DO NOT really want to be citizens, but come here bvecause there is available labor, free health care, and the other temporary sociological priveleges we have bestowed on them. Most of them are not interested in citizenship as much as a quick buck....but that's just here in Cal. I really don't know how it is elsewhere.

As for "making them" learn English and apply for citizenship, your business probably won't do too well, then, because there's always going to be some other guy that will employ them WITHOUT these expectations...and who do you think the illegal is going to want to work for?!

Statistics show that 80-90% wish to be citizens. Experiences mean nothing in a debate like this.

I'd like to see those statistics, if you donm't mind pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks for those statistics. I found them a little unnerving at best.

First of all, how did 13% of undocumented workers attain US Drivers Licenses? I thought you had to be a legal citizen to qualify.

Also, the fact that 21% of these people have been here more than 10 yrs., and STILL have not attempted citizenship, leads me to believe that they are not interested in becoming legal citizens, and they are not being entirely truthful in their responses. Obviously, they are not in the process of becoming citizens, otherwise they would be "documented," so what's the deal there? I think that 10 yrs. is ample time if their real goal was citizenship.

And what the deal with 67% being employed with NO DOCUMENTATION WHATSOEVER?!

That study definitely won't help me sleep at night.

Well it is a problem, and the problem has nothing to do with people who want to come here and work.

It has to do with our labor markets and the many many companies who can make much more money by hiring cheap labor. If there was no work here for these illegal workers most of them would not come. march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American
