I'm very much aware that Christ is God, but while here on earth, he continually submitted to the will of the Father. He states that repeatedly throughout the gospels. That is the example he uses when speaking of wives submitting themselves to their husbands.

In the same way he submitted to the will of the Father, wives are to submit to their own husbands.

Really! I must have missed that Scripture. Where is it?

I had been considering an analogy lately, and thought this thread (since it is discussing Ephesians 5) would be the appropriate place to post it.

Consider a marriage relationship and family as being a car - only one person can ultimately drive it.

The problem with your analogy is that Paul didn't use it. He used a head/body metaphor. Let's stick to what Paul wrote please.

1 Peter 3:1-7 NASB

In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. Your adornment must not be merely external--braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear. You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

I guess you will really be baffled now.

Genesis 2:18--"And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone, I will make him an HELP MEET FOR HIM."

This verse is very plain woman was created for man and it's got nothing to do with male dominance.

OC

I agree OC, and this is re-affirmed in 1 Corinthians 11:8,9

8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

It is not good that man should be alone,

It is not good that man should BE ALONE

It is not good that man should BE A L O N E,

I will make him an HELP MEET FOR HIM."

It is not good that man should be alone and that is why God created the woman in that timing. God wanted the male human to realize his need of an other. You are correct, it wasn't about male dominance. It was about male aloneness.

11 Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12 For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.

For the visually impaired this is a picture of interdependence. The fact that the miracle of life will always come through women, is balanced by the fact that originally, the first woman was taken from the flesh of the first man. Balance. Interdependence. Equality.

God takes woman from man...FOR THIS REASON the man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one.

Hum? :P The bible even specificaly states the purpose of why she was created from him yet you still see it as some hierarchal male dominate purpose. I'm baffled.

I guess you will really be baffled now.

Genesis 2:18--"And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone, I will make him an HELP MEET FOR HIM."

This verse is very plain and states specifically the purpose of why a woman was created as it was for man and it's got nothing to do with male dominance. :24:

Wow. I got it. You guys worship, reverence, salute, etc. males, masculinity, men. In your thinking men are the "greater light" (versus women as the "lessor light"), the drivers (versus the driven), the controllers (versus women as the controlled), the leaders (versus women as the followers) , the decision makers (versus women who have no deciding vote), the figurative christs (versus women as human or less), men as corporate boss (versus women as employee or "slave"), and so on.

I didn't know it had gotten that bad. Thank God I don't see that in Scripture. What a temptation for us men.

"All power corrupts, and ultimate power corrupts uiltimately"

"Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak; and that it is doing God's service when it is violating all His laws." --John Adams

Took ya long enough to get it. :24:

:24:

To say a lot of nothing. What it comes down to is some of us are actually following scripture, and some like Oopsmartin are trying to find ways not to.

Actually, I believe it is the other way around. After all being "in charge" does have it's perks, now doesn't it. :P

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
