What was in the Garden of Eden?

Genesis Chapter 2:9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil

Adam was not in the Garden of Eden when God created him God put him there after...

Genesis Chapter 2:8 And the Lord God planted a garden eatward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Genesis Chapter 2:15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Now the next 2 verse of that same chapter God is commanding Adam of which tree that he can eat from...

Genesis Chapter 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest therof thou shalt surely die.

So of every tree in the Garden of Eden including the tree of life except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man was allowed to eat.

Eve wasn't even created at this point until after all of this

Genesis Chapter 2:18 An the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.

So now Eve will be with Adam in the Garden of Eden.

We all know the story of how satan had deceived Eve into eating the fruit so I won't go into that part. But here is the reason God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden.....I have already told you that Adam and Eve could eat from every tree including the tree of life but not of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil....After Adam and Eve ate of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they now had sin in their bodies...they were at this point dying slowly as we all are in our lives...

But what would have happened if they were to eat from the tree of life?

This is the reason that God kicked them out of the garden of Eden

Genesis Chapter 3:22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know of good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever;

So if Adam and Eve would have taken from the tree of life and have eaten the fruit they would have lived for ever but with the sin in there bodies so this is what God did,

Genesis Chapter 3:23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Because of the sin from the eating of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil man was cursed to till the ground for his food.

Genesis Chapter 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the seat of the garden of Eden cherubim, and a flaming lsword which tuned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

God did not want any man to enter into the garden of Eden ever again for the tree of life was what God was protecting...

Any comments?

I heard a sermon on that subject, a while back. I think it was mentioned in another thread here somewhere. He said that if they'd eaten from the Tree of Life, that they'd lived forever in the state of sin, which would have been a mess, so God put them out and guarded it. I never thought about them eating from it before their fall, though.

Adam and Eve learned by the hard way the what their disobedience brought them.

They could discern evil and good.

If they had eaten from the tree of life they would live forever in bodies subject to sickness ,degeneration and infirmity.

Thus is was because of Gods mercy that prevented them to return to Eden.

Like Calamity, I read it in another post and thought it made a lot of sense. Once they ate of the Tree of Knowledge, sin entered in to the human race through their disobedience. God removed them from the garden before they ate from the Tree of Life and their sin became part of their eternal nature. Mmmm... I can see it. From what I read, it seems that most of us see the possibility.

Blessings,

Wayne

Shilo I agree with most of what you have said. But please clarify something for me. Do you think that if adam and eve ate from the tree of life once then they would have eternal life? It seems to me that is your thinking. That all one has to do is eat from the tree of life once and one will never die?

Could it be that that the fruit of the tree of life must be ate regularly to maintain eternal life? It seems to me that adam would have eaten from the tree of life and i'm sure eve would have also because they where free to do so. This leads me to think that the effect of eating from the tree of life will wear off if one stops eating from it? What do you think?

If they ate from the Tree of Life before the fall, then they were sinless when they ate of it, freely at will. After the fall, it seems, from what the Bible says, that if they ate of it again, they'd live forever like that - in sin. I don't know.... Sounded sort of like if they ate from it once more, they'd live forever in the sin state, but I don't have that verse in front of me right now... I think what wore off, was their sinlessness, but again, I don't know.

If I understood what you were saying, you meant in how that like Jesus is our Tree of Life. We must keep going to Him and eating of His word to stay alive. I've never heard that theory before, but it does seem, at the very least, possible.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
