I'm very curious, COI, why you think Jesus died. You said you don't believe that's why He came to earth. So was His death an accident? Was it an afterthought? I'm not sure where you're coming from in this. You believe He came to show us love, but what is the purpose for that love? What does it accomplish? Why would Jesus come to earth and die the death He did, when there are many other ways He could (and actually did) show us how much He loves us? I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm just not exactly sure what your thinking, in asking these questions, is coming from. Please enlighten me if you can  !

:emot-hug:

You see, I think that a lot of people look at the small picture, and that is why I believe that most of the people here said he came to die. Your definition of the message of the Bible, to me, is looking at the small picture, and the actions of men. But I think the big picture is God's love. God started out with intent to love. We sinned, which inhibited that love, in order to relieve us of that inhibition he sent his son to die. Therefore, allowing us to love him without being hindered. I believe that the message of the Bible is a message of love, and of God's love. Why did God create? Love. Why did he send his Son? Love. I do not believe for any moment that sin has anything to do with God's original plan. I don't believe it for one second that it's of import on his radar. I think what matters is that we love him. When we sin we are showing a lack of love. When we sin we are making a choice. I believe that it's about our choice, and our love. When we sin we are choosing ourselves. I don't believe that people go to hell as a result of not believing. That has only partly to do with it. I think people go to hell for not choosing God. Likewise I do not believe that people go to heaven merely for believing, that's only part of it. I believe that a person must CHOOSE to LOVE God. A person must CHOOSE to have that relationship with God, and value it over ANYTHING else. When we focus on resisting sin we are devoting our focus to sin. When we focus on God, sin is handled and taken care of. Heaven is a place where God and his people can eternally commune. So, I don't believe that you simply are able to believe and go to heaven. I don't believe that you can go to heaven out of selfish want or desire. We go to heaven out of self-less love and sacrifice. Christ said that we must take up our crosses and deny ourselves, and it is that that brings us to eternity with the Creator. If we believe, and do not pray, If we go to church, and do not listen, If we teach without having the heart in us, without having the passion for it, than we will not make it. It takes Love for us to make it. I believe far too many Christians have accepted this believe, pray, go to church idea, and that's not enough. If it's not in the heart it's worthless. If it's not your passion, it's worthless. If it's not your love it's worthless. Anyways, my point is, I feel that belief should be more than belief. It should be EVERYTHING.

Shalom COI,

Yes, to all you said, but you are not disagreeing with what anyone else has said.

Yes, G-d's intent was love and the sin of man was the need for Jesus to come to die.

It was all about LOVE.

It the Father did not love us, He would not have sent Jesus to die to restore fellowship between us and the Father.

If Jesus did not love us and submit to the Father's will, He would not have endured the agony of the Cross.

If Jesus did not love us, He would not have sent the Holy Spirit.

If Jesus did not love us, He would not be coming back for us.

It's all about love, BUT, Jesus came to Earth specifically to die, BECAUSE of the love he had for us- to redeem us from sin. That was His mission. For without the shedding of HIS blood, there could be no remission of OUR sin.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18

My question though, and maybe I didn't make this clear, is WHY did he come die for our sins? I personally believe that he didn't come with the main purpose of dying for our sin

Daddy's Love

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Son's Love

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2

Glory

That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Ephesians 1:12-13

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,

Its shame and reproach gladly bear;

Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,

Where His glory forever I'll share.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rugged cross

And exchange it some day for a crown.

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

He came that we might have life and have it abundantly.

Freed from our sins by His death and resurrection and our faith in Him, we are new creations. We go through the world being His body, working with His hands, doing His work, sharing the Good News and doing so in the joy and freedom that our salvation is assured.

Here is another statement from Jesus

A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance.

John 10:10 HCSB

Jesus did not come just to demonstrate one of God's attributes. That would be the small picture. He came to demonstrate God in His entirety, all of His attributes.

What do you all think that the point of Jesus' coming here was for? What do you think is the core message of what he came to teach? What do you think is the overall message of the Bible?

My hands were sweating...big drop of sweat running od my face..dry mouth...a deep anguish..I told myself:"Barabbas, you are really done man,no I dont want to die neither I want rot in this stinking prison...but there is no way out...I am a dead man walking..the romans guards outside my dark and dump prison are armed to the teeth..soon they will come and get me so I will be exectuded...after all I am a killer..I am a terrorist..a bandit...I will die..there is no way out,no hope...no hope...I wish I didnt do the evil I did..I still can see the blood I shed...and now my blood will be shed too,I am going to die..NO NO..somebody help me,somebody get me out of here,please,please,please....."

I hear my name" Barabbas"crucifige him...Barabbas.....what the mob wants crucify me? they are wild, they hate me.....Oh man,I can hear the steps of the centurions coming towards my cell......"Barabbas,said Marcus Cestius, the Roman centurion" Barabbas, come out, here go,you are free to go,just take your ugly face away from here....go away you are free!"

"FREE? FREE?what?HOW IT IS POOSIBLE CENTURION MARCUS?" I said .....

"Well"replied Marcus Cestius"JESUS OF NAZARETH has taken your place,HE IS GOING TO DIE ON THE ROMAN CROSS instead of you criminal!

I have seen and heard this JESUS guy,he is a good man...I heard Him preaching,I saw Him healing lepers and all sort of sick and very ill people,I have seen him feed multitudes with a boy lunch,I have seen Him have mercy of sinners and all sort of outcasts,I have heard Him talk with your people with love and authority and He even raised the dead and delivered demon possessed people,He is a real good man,I would spare Him because He deserves to live and be honoured but your people wants Him crucified, they hate Him without a reason,I dont understand,I would make Him king but they want Him dead....Our Consul PILATE,yes PONTIUS PILATE has given in to the ferocity of the screaming mob...and so Barabbas, today YOU ARE FREE because JESUS of NAZARETH DIES at your place,go away Barabbas before I kill you with my sword to vindicate the Roman soldiers that you killed in your riots...GO! YOU ARE FREE,JESUS WILL PAY FOR YOU and FOR ALL ....

I start to believe in HIM,I feel that He is the long waited Messiah of Israel,I wonder if He would accept me,a Roman,a Gentile, a sinner myself.....I am sure that JESUS will forgive me...but you,you go Barabbas...YOU ARE FREE!

Yes,JESUS DIED INSTEAD of ME! and YOU!

The JUST ONE for the injust ones,me,you and everybody else...JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS DIED for ISRAEL and THE GENTILES so that BY BELIEVING in HIM we might receive THE GIFT of ETERNAL LIFE....FREEDOM,FORGIVENESS and a NEW LIFE,A NEW SPIRIT,HIS HOLY SPIRIT and then we can finally cry ABBA FATHER and know that THE CREATOR of HEAVEN and HEARTH,THE ALMIGHTY,is also a tender LOVING FATHER that will accept stinking sinners like me and transform them in children of God!

THank YOU FATHER,THANK YOU JESUS,THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT that JESUS came to destroy the work of the devil and SET FREE those that for fear of death were satans slaves...

YES JESUS CAME TO SAVE SINNERS,from DEATH,SIN and HELL and destroy satans kingdom and translate us from darkness into HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT and to ADOPT US in Gods family!

HE IS GOD!!!!! AND....HE IS COMING AGAIN IN GLORY!!!!!! HE IS COMING AGAIN SOONER that WE THINK !!!THE KING IS COMING!!!!

PRAISE HIS MOST HOLY NAME!!!!

I say with Thomas...."MY GOD,MY LORD"

THANK YOU JESUS for YOUR GRACE and for YOUR GIFT!!!!!

AMEN :whistling::rolleyes::taped:

H i,

I believe Jesus came because we needed him, he came that we might have an abundant life he came because he loves us. and to open up the way for a relationship with our Father, we were seperated from God and the cross is the bridge we so badly needed.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
