angels, God doesn't condone divorce, although it was allowed because of the hardness of man's heart. so, as a divorced (and remarried) woman, i won't justify ending one's marriage. i think in certain instances it is a wise choice (i.e. your spouse is physically or sexually abusive to you or your children, etc.).

i will also say that divorce is forgivable. and once forgiven, remarriage is not wrong, provided you seek God's will in your choice of mate.

Matthew 5:32 - But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

As I understand it, "marital unfaithfulness" includes adultery and abuse.

I Corinthians 7

12To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

15But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

17Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

Yes, I do not believe God wants a woman or man to stay in a situation in which they are being physically/emotionally abused. God didn't call us to be floormats! Of course, one shouldn't start looking for excuses to get out of a marriage either!!! This is where getting to know your future spouse comes into play. It isn't enough to simply say, "God put us together, therefore everything will be a-okay." We still have to get to know that person and make sure they are compatible with us. How many marriages have gone sour because one didn't get to know their future spouse? For everything God has, Satan has a counterfeit and that includes a future spouse IMHO. So, to the unmarried I would advise to seek God wholeheartedly! BTW, in May I will be celebrating 9 years of marriage!

good point you almost made ronald :D

you made a point, i'm just expanding on it. i can't count the people who think God brought them together in marriage... but truth is, God had nothing to do with their choice. more often than not, that was hormones talking, not God.

Today is my 8th anniversary.

My wife made a big mistake 8 years ago....

She got married on Super Bowl weekend! :b:

I'll always remember our honeymoon. We got married and drove to the airport to take a plane to Ft Lauderdale on our way to the Bahamas.

I got a room in Florida for the night though because they don't show the Super Bowl in the Bahamas. My Cowboys FINALLY beat the Steelers that night!

for our first anniversary we went to London. We were so exhausted as we got in to our hotel that she passed out while I was watching Denver beat Green Bay.

Ah...the memories! :D

:P

My hubby and I have been married for 11 years now...going on 12 this July...and about 6 years ago I wasn't sure we were going to make it. But then God came into our lives and put us on the right path. I praise Him everyday because of that. :D

Hey....I'm a Dallas fan too! My hubby is a Skins fan....makes for an interesting marriage. :b::D

I know without a doubt that God put my marriage together. It would really take too long to explain...but the circumstances that put us together were divinely inspired!

I have not regretted it one bit...

No, I don't agree with divorce and think it's something God hates...but there are circumstances that break the marriage covenant of trust..

That includes both the promise of fidelity and the promise to love, honor and cherish..

When a man uses his wife as a punching bag, I believe he's broken his vow to love and honor...

I came from an abusive marriage of 20 years and know what it's like to be battered....and I never have regretted the decision to grant him a divorce. When he, an unbeliever, asked me for a divorce...I rejoiced in my heart and agreed to it.

I am now remarried to a man who never lifts a hand to me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
