JIG2, would you explain your comments about internet banking? Why are you against it? I use it daily and love it. Including the bill pay. My banking web site is secure and locked.

Thanks, looking forward to your thoughts......

I just bought mine about 2 months ago, now I dont know how the old stuff was but this has options of who has access to your computer as well as gives you daily updates on who tried to acess your computer and a reporting option.

My neighbor recommended it, but how good it is, I am a real novice on that so I couldnt even begin to say which options are better than other software

Well I for one feel uncomfortable with it.

I look at my firewall security reports and you would be amazed at the different people that request access to your computer.

Now maybe there is nothing to worry about and I am parinoid. I was told by a couple of "eddheads" I have spoken to, that the risk for some reason or other is higher on broadband than dial up, but I dont know.

Now please dont misunderstand, but I also feel that online banking and financial transactions in general, are helping to usher in a cashless society. And I am just not comfortable with it.

But I must admit, I really dont have much trust in the banks in general, and then there are those who want access to your banking accout for bill paying etc.. My wife tried joining a healthclub and they even wanted access to our account so they couls take the money out automatically. We have great credit and are never late, the guy says he dont want to chase everyone around for payment and not in a nice way.

Well any way I believe my feelings are 70% me and 30% risk that I have heard. But I am not a computer expert, but there are people out there who hack computers for a living. And the average Joe like you are I, who in most cases have the minimum protection, we are prime.

And then should someone gain access to your computer, they not only have personall information about you, but your financial information as well. You are constantly hearing of identity theft, and they are getting very good at it these days.

But if you are comfortable with it, I am not saying stop. I guess its more me and what I read and hear from others more than facts. But being the novice that I am on the fundamentals of how a computer works, their advice is all I have to go on.

Hope it helps to understand why I made that remark, its not gospel, just my personall views. Of which the main reason I brought it up, was the mention that someone had no firewall protection of which in this case I would make no financial transactions.

God bless,

In Jesus

Kevin

That would be because our computers are always online. Also since our connection is faster they are in-and-out faster than if they were getting someone whos on dial-up.

I am running a netgear router on a dsl line and several computers that use Norton Virus and Firewall. It was the easiest to set up and the phone help for netgear is great.

We use Mcafee for our work related computers and I have had more problem with virus breakthroughs with mcafee than my home computers running norton.

I work on large printing systems that are all networked and I see norton used most and zone alarm second. Zone alarm is easier to set up and seems to work as well as norton. If you was serious protesction get a router with a built in hardware firewall. They are not too expensive and virtually impossible to break through.

The very best is to dump microsoft and load unix...... but then you have to get all new software.... :t2:

Ha ha ha! Those logs can be quite scary sometimes but most of those reports are for normal network protocol activity. In order for your computer to work on the internet, which is basically a huge network, your computer and the other computers have to talk back and forth to each other and make different requests etc, and that is a lot of what you see going on in the log.

If you was serious protesction get a router with a built in hardware firewall. They are not too expensive and virtually impossible to break through.

I don't think that anything to do with computers is"impossible" to break through but definitely if you are running a network using netbios protocols etc, a router/firewall is a good way to go. One of the most common internet scans by hackers is for netbios or other networking protocol ports. A Good way to test your computer for open ports is to use an online test like the one On this page. Scroll down to "Shields up" click on it and go through the tests.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
