is there anything in hp that points to GOD. are we not to separate our selves from unGODLY things of this world?

I went to see the Movie. It is basically about Good vs Evil in the Witches/Wizards world. There is a part where Harry was told that all humans have 2 natures, one good and one bad and it depends on which one we choose to feed is the nature that overcomes us. This is similar to Christian Doctrine

But no there is nothing points to God.

I like harry potter, i've liked harry potter since the first book came out and i intend to read the new book.

ITS FICTIONAL!! its not like the real satanic rituals going on today so im not bothered.

I don't agree with that.

I was reading recently online that since the advent of Harry Potter, occultic websites have been bombarded by children wishing to learn more about witchcraft.

HP is often the first doorway for a child into an interest in the occult, which is then taken further by programs on TV such as Charmed, Bewitched, and the like, which has more of an appeal to teenagers, who are then drawn in to reciting spells from books they have bought.

I don't think it is harmless at all, or good.

and we are back on the roundabout again :laugh::laugh:

Ok I like the harry potter books...I do not think the last 3 are suitable for children to read ( depending on the age and experiences of the child ) without an adult reading it with them but that is because the children who started to read the books as they came out are now young ( and not so young ) adults and the books too have moved on to make them a series for all ages.

The Narnia books also cam in for just this sort of "bashing" from people claiming it would lead children into temptation :whistling: There were also lots of reports about children locking themselves into wardrobes to try to find narnia  so do we ban all books that are not biblically based :noidea:

Children read all sorts of things even those you dont think they should ( I had to study chauser for A levels ..my mother was so horrified that she wrote to the school and withdrew me from the classes ...I carried on with them without telling her and passed my exams :taped: ) If you allow your children to access the internet without proper supervision they WILL get into all sorts of trouble so do you blame all that on books ? Or do you put the "blame" where it belongs ..on poor parenting ?

Reading the harry potter books or watching the films is a matter of personal choice and I do not expect to be "bashed " for doing so any more than I would " bash" people who like to read /watch murder mysteries, romantic ( drivel :taped: ) cowboy and indian films that portray indians as nothing but mrderous savages or and of the other junk that is out there in the world :thumbsup::emot-handshake:

:o

LadyP.....I think you have a valid point about other kinds of novels and films, such as murder mysteries, indians, and the like.

But Harry Potter?

I'm determined to throw some of your own rock fairy cakes at you when I see you.......surely that wouldn't count as 'bashing', would it? :noidea:

My question is would you be comfortable reading those in front of Jesus, and having Him join you in what you are reading?

The whole Harry Potter series is at best an attempt to make one person (J.K. Rowling) very rich on the backs of unsuspecting children and adults who would be willing to part with their money in the pursuit of a fantasy......

And at worst, a gateway for a lot of children into the occult.

There is no redeeming factor in it all, in my opinion.

Well since God sees and knows all that I do the answer to that would have to be yes or I wouldnt do it

It is a STORY .. It is well written and shows children do know the difference between right and wrong even if they chose wrong sometimes ...it also shows the influences that can make children chose "wrong" It helps children to be able to bring up difficult subjects if the parents are willing to talk to them ...if the children read ANYTHING without parental support and influence then it can cause harm ....how many of you have gone out and killed thousands of people after reading the old testament ?

Open your eyes and READ with an open mind and you will see why it is that so many who do not have the knowledge / teaching etc to know that God has a good purpose for all that He does can read the old testament and decide that God is cruel and uncaring . Why do you know that God is a God of love ?...because you have read with help to understand what was going on when God destroyed the world with the flood or totally destroyed sodam including all the children that were in that city ......ALL books can be read in many different ways INCLUDING the bible ..it is up to the reader to decide if they are to be influenced by what they read and if that influence is to be for good or evil

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
