Dancing is fine as long as it isn't the suggestive kind. After all it is one of God's special gifts to us as humans, like singing and playing an instrument.

I think this was the argument that won the day in "Footloose" (aka that fantabulous movie that convinced me of the heroic power of jazz-dancing Kevin Bacon).

Shalom,

Love to dance. Every year at our cancer patient retreat, we have a dance with a band and all. Even on chemo, I could dance with the best of them. I especially love 50's and 60's rock and roll and I love the dances of that time as well. Especially the twist.

And, I dance around the house to music all the time. The kids and I dance as well.

I'm with you, Vicki. I LOVE to dance!!!

I dance around my house all the time. I don't usually dance in public, just because I really like to "get down."

Plus, whenever I dance, I always like to incorporate ballet moves (took ballet for a while when I was a kid), and I find that it's hard to do a decent flutter kick to "Baby Got Back" :emot-shakehead:

I think it ranks in somewhere between "Krush Groove" and "The Thing With 2 Heads"

I never could dance too well. In our early years, my wife tried to teach me to 3-step (as opposed to the Texas Two Step). I'm 6-2 and she's 5-1. I struggled to keep the steps in the right order and would often step on her feet. Man! We haven't danced in probably 20 years.

On the other hand, my eight year old son shows an uncanny ability to dance. Must've got those genes from my wife.

There was actually a town in Missouri, in Berry County, (Purdy) that did not allow dancing... so the kids would all go to the prom of a diff highschool.... in the mid 80's ( after Foot Loose came out) they lifted the ban.... i do not know if it went back into effect, or if it is still ok to dance again.....

QUOTE(Iryssa @ Aug 15 2007, 11:32 PM)

Underwear of David's day, I'd imagine

Kind David was dancing in his skivvies.....before God?? I've never heard this before. I wonder if the Lord was amused?

yeah, if you read the account, his wife, the daughter of King Saul, rebuked him for dancing before the Lord, told him to be MORE DIGNIFIED and guess what David said???? He said....

LET ME BE MORE UNDIGNIFIED BEFORE MY LORD

David knew how to praise and worship the Lord, He did not hide the Lord away, He brought the Lord with him every where .... he set up dancers and praisers and music players and such to go 24/7....

what a thought, praising and worshipping and honoring God 24/7

sounds like Prayer Mountain in Korea..... no wonder that is where one of the largest ( if not the largest ) Christian Fellowship is..... no wonder they are the ones that have been taken hostage in Afgahn....

let us do the same....

Just wondering how you feel about dancing now that or since you've become a Christian? Either with your spouse or another partner! I can honestly tell you that down here in Cajunland, it would be something very hard to discontinue. I personally, don't see anything wrong with my wife and I going out or while at a wedding and "shaking" a let or two! But then again, we can really entertain the crowd....lol....Guess it runs in the genes! lol....What can I say?

And honestly folks, there were years when I was studying and learning about God and HIS word that I didn't even care if I or we didn't dance.....I never really thought about it for years.....but now! Look out Fred A.

Your thoughts?

Cajunboy:::::I'm guessing tht the person who was addressing the Movie "Footloose" had some knowledge of people's talents in dancing. Although it had a wiry plot, and was loosly put together, if you remember the general theme of the movie was about a supposedly religous community dealing with the decision of allowing "such lucid dancing" in for their high school prom. Turned out the pastor gave in and submitted to what he thought originally was vulgar turned into being just fun and talent. The rest of the plot, I agree was peculiar! But the theme was important!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
