I've been purposefully avoiding this forum, so I don't know if this has been discussed or not. But I was wondering about people's opinions on what the feet of iron and clay of Daniel's vision are.

Daniel 2

31  "You, O king, were looking and behold, there was a single great statue; that statue, which was large and of extraordinary splendor, was standing in front of you, and its appearance was (45) awesome.

32  "The (46) head of that statue was made of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze,

33  its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

34  "You continued looking until a (47) stone was cut out (48) without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and (49) crushed them.

35  "Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were crushed all at the same time and became (50) like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that (51) not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great (52) mountain and filled the whole earth.

The Interpretation--Babylon the First Kingdom

36  "This was the dream; now we will tell (53) its interpretation before the king.

37  "You, O king, are the (54) king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the (55) power, the strength and the glory;

38  and wherever the sons of men dwell, or the (56) beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given them into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold.

Medo-Persia and Greece

39  "After you there will arise another kingdom inferior to you, then another third kingdom of bronze, which will rule over all the earth.

Rome

40  "Then there will be a (57) fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushes and shatters all things, so, like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces.

41  "In that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with common clay.

42  "As the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of pottery, so some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle.

43  "And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery.

The Divine Kingdom

44  "In the days of those kings the (58) God of heaven will (59) set up a (60) kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will (61) crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.

45  "Inasmuch as you saw that a (62) stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, the (63) great God has made known to the king what (64) will take place in the future; so the dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy."

It is puzzling because the Medo-Persian Empire defeated Babylon, which was defeated by the Greek Empire, which was taken over by the Roman Empire which . . . fell apart?

The feet of iron and clay is the last of the kingdoms of the Earth. The implication is that it is still in power when the stone comes to topple the statue.

So, what has been in power that is still in power?

I have an idea with a reasonable explanation, I believe, but I don't see it still being the ruling power of today.

Thoughts?

Have you ever pondered this sign? :)

The very same day that the image of Satan/Saddam was falling in "Paradise Square" by the Tigris, (right-hand outstretched to Jerusalem, Dan. 12:7; Rev. 10:5), there was yet another great sign: The EC was adding 10 new 'toes' to its membership!

(A common interpretation of Daniel 2, is that the two legs of the ten-toed statue

represent the eastern and western Roman Empire:

Hence, the ten new EC members signify the revival of the eastern aspect of this union, as if there were two statues: one symbolic of the west, and the other the east. The two have now become one! One week later was the official signing ceremony, which happened to be Passover!!! :)

It's amazing how we can discuss these things intellectually yet fail to observe that which is happening in the world under our very noses! :t2:

Shekel,

Can you show us from Daniel 2 where there is to be any re-unification after the breakup of the Roman Empire symbolized by the feet of iron and clay?

I personally believe that the Iron representing the Roman empire, which also became the Catholic church both from a religous standpoint and a political standpoint, with the conversion of constantine and later charlemagne who was crowned by the pope, and brough the political and religous powers as one. The catholic church has weilded a mass of political and religous power down through the ages and still does. It has never ceased.

its also interesting to note that charlemagne goal as king was to bring unity to Europe. The euro if I am not mistaken has a picture of Charlemagne on it, or there is talk of it. I know they have a peace prize in the order of the Nobel peace prize called the Charlemagne prize. This explains in short the iron, and is well worth the investigation of what is happening in the EU today.

Now the end kingdom in power during the tribulation is called "Mystery Babylon", and in my opinion is going to be a mixture of the roman and babylonian empires.

The Iron representing the Roman empire

The Clay representing the Babylonian empire

It will be also a mixture of religous powers of catholicism and muslim faiths, which dont mix. Its also interseting to note that muhamed was a catholic before "his vision from god".

Here is an interesting article from the Worthy news site, that appears that this very well could be the case:

EU could back WTO membership for all Middle East

The EU wants to see Iraqi, Iranian and Libyan trade diplomats tread the boards of the WTO (Photo: World Trade Organisation)

The Clay representing the Babylonian empire

The Gold of the head represents the Babylonian empire.

The euro if I am not mistaken has a picture of Charlemagne on it

The Euro has a picture of the Pope on it.

I also believe that out of the "Babylonian empire" will come anti-Christ,

The antichrist is the little horn that comes out of the break up of the Roman Empire.

The iron and clay represtents the divisions of Europe that came from the dividing of the Roman empire.

Lately I have wondered if the toes of iron and clay is not the United States of America. We are made up of a large part of European desent all mixed together with others and we are quickly falling into place for it to describe us as world dominators. A large part of our leaders are mixed up with pagan rituals that can be traced back to Balylon's religons by going to places like the Bohemian Grove. We have the Mystery Balylon smell and the make up of the ten toes........ Just something I've been pondering over for the past couple of years.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
