Direct attacks: http://www.stopcyberbullying.org/how_it_wo...ct_attacks.html

and Indirect attacks: http://www.stopcyberbullying.org/how_it_wo...g_by_proxy.html

Something that's been happening to both children and adults and should be made aware of.

This link touches base on what cyberbullying is, how it happens, how it can be prevented and how the law handles this abuse.

It's good to keep aware of what's happening like the new techniques used to bully and harrass people. You'd be surprized.

Also, I noticed that some people on here give out their names when discussing problems with their friends, family, spouse etc., this can be a form of cyberbullying and there are laws against this form. That's one reason I never post my name here, where I often seek marital advice. This is a warning to some people who aren't aware there are laws about public slander and cyberbullying.

Some examples:

Direct Attacks

1. Instant Messaging/Text Messaging Harassment

2. Stealing Passwords

3. Blogs

4. Web Sites

5. Sending Pictures through E-mail and Cell Phones

6. Internet Polling

7. Interactive Gaming

8. Sending Malicious Code

9. Sending Porn and Other Junk E-Mail and IMs

10. Impersonation

Cyberbullying by proxy is when a cyberbully gets someone else to do their dirty work. Most of the time they are unwitting accomplices and don't know that they are being used by the cyberbully. Cyberbullying by proxy is the most dangerous kind of cyberbullying because it often gets adults involve in the harassment and people who don't know they are dealing with a kid or someone they know.

"Warning" or "Notify Wars" are an example of cyberbullying by proxy. Kids click on the warning or notify buttons on their IM screen or e-mail or chat screens, and alert the ISP or service provider that the victim has done something that violates their rules. If the victim receives enough warnings or notifications, they can lose their account. The service providers are aware of this abuse, and often check and see if the warning were justified. But all the cyberbully has to do is make the victim angry enough to say something rude or hateful back. Then, BINGO! they warn them, making it look like the victim had started it. In this case, the ISP or service provider is the innocent accomplice of the cyberbully.

Sometimes the victim's own parents are too. If the cyberbully can make it look like the victim is doing something wrong, and the parents are notified, the parents will punish the victim. Alyssa, one of our Teenangels, had this happen to her. To learn more about her cyberbullying problem, read Alyssa's story.

Cyberbullying by proxy sometimes starts with the cyberbully posing as the victim. They may have hacked into their account or stolen their password. They may have set up a new account pretending to be the victim. But however they do it, they are pretending to be the victim and trying to create problems for the victim with the help of others.

The most typical way a cyberbullying by proxy attack occurs is when the cyberbully gets control of the victim's account and sends out hateful or rude messages to everyone on their buddy list pretending to be the victim. They may also change the victim's password so they can't get into their own account. The victim's friends get angry with the victim, thinking they had sent the messages without knowing they have been used by the cyberbully. But it's not always this minor. Sometimes the cyberbully tries to get more people involved.

I think bullying can be worse in chat rooms and in cyberland. People will say things that are harmful in chat so quickly, because they don't have the face to face reactions to deal with. And, yes, it can be a pack mentality when a newbie comes in, sometimes.

I think Worthy does an awesome job moderating the chat here, but human nature always comes into play.

You ever wonder if God would hack your computer? It's not like He can't, you know. I may just put a sticker on my screen that says "God can hack." to guard against froward fingers. :noidea:

You can never have too many reminders. I can't count how many time I remember things like that exactly after I slip up.

I need a reminder on my phone, too, for those long conversations with unsaved family. <---fertile slanderland, that phone.

thank you for sharing this as i am new my self to the internet and this hole thing on comunicating in cyber space my self and i am also teaching my self

yes we need to be care full yet if its a christian forum run by christians and with commen sence i cant see how by placing your name when sharing can be a form of bullying or harrasment next to your chat name

yet i know others that have experianced this if some one does not like them and you always get this sort of thing happening

i am on another christian forum my self and that is how i met my partner yet we tested each other before personal ph numbers wear given out as i did not know if i was talking to a male or a scamer so i got my friend to give me a link that brings up people who are on a black list world wide for scamming and there photos are on this countrys such as africa russia and nigeria and my friend who is a pastor showed me a few tips and i know i am good at this and i love catching out scammers on this other forum that i am on as its a chrisitan one but they do nothing to prottect there members when placing a profile about your self on a singles christian dating sight

so far i have cought out about 11 scamers on this christian forum just by the black list i have and i love to play a long and get the hook out there and see what i can catch as i got cought out twice gave out money thinking they wear pastors and then when i saw the photo on this list my friend sent me to set up for my self i was angry yet i learnt an important lesson

yet i have not experianced this since i have been on worthy and why would you want to do this to another christian that is wanting to grow them selves and learn from many brothers and sisters in difrrent parts of the world that they wil not see or meet but can only go by the posts and what they share and see what others are saying

I've tried it on a couple of boards, and had the same experience. Too many people talking about too many things, and I guess I can't type fast enough. By the time I get something typed, I'm at the bottom of the list and the topic I'm typing about is long past, and I guess people think I haven't answered. And I'm not that slow of a typist. I don't know how people do it either.

It's like the thread about the guy who got in trouble for telling that other guy about the sin of homosexuality, it was meant for good but, if it isn't wanted or can cause someone "pain and suffering", it can be used against you in a court of law. Let's say a girl has a friend she wants Christian advice about. She tells her friend's name and a LOT of things about her friend that her friend would "just die" if anyone found out. One day her friend Google's her own name and finds this gossip about herself and is furious. She sues her ex-friend for slander. All I'm saying is it's good to be aware of what you're doing before you do it. Think before you put a person's name on a public forum. Christian forum or not, it can be accessed by EVERYONE. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
