All the arguments I have heard in favor of public schooling, are based on the world's way of thinking. All the home school arguments I have heard are much more biblically based. Just an observation...

Shalom Emily Anne,

This is EXACTLY it. Public school is not G-d's design. When we send our children to be raised by the government, with no mention of G-d, no prayer, but full of indoctrinations of worldy, pagan ways, we will stand accountable to G-d.

Homeschooling a child in a Christian home IS the best option, as it is G-d's design.

In answer to the OP, your father is correct, public school is no place to send a precious Christian child. I will NEVER do it, L-rd willing. We've been homeschooling for 17 years and intend to keep on doing it.

And I have yet to have heard a single argument in favor of public schooling that can be backed up by scripture.

On a side note.

For those that home-school, how do you deal with advanced subjects like Calculus, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as foreign languages?

I work in IT and deal with some facets of algebra all the time, but I can't imagine having to try and teach my kids advanced subjects like Calculus or Physics, and I like science. It just seems like that unless one was a scientist or a teacher trained in those areas, that it would be hard to be up to the task.

:taped: That would be why my children are in public school now...They got to be smarter than me so I had to turn them over to those who could properly teach them the fundimentals of those types of subjects. Goodness, I think they passed me up in 3rd grade, kids are so smart these days. :taped:

We tried the coop thing, no help there. Homeschool can get pretty expensive when you start with the distance learning, we figured why not just sent them to private school for what it was costing. So since we could afford neither...public school was God's calling, and it has worked out to be God's will for my children.

Praise the LORD for His leading...

Biblicist That would be why my children are in public school now

So would it not be worth fighting for putting more of God back in Public School or are your kids worth it? :taped:

Well, backontrack, since my children are Born Again Believers, as well as some of their teachers, I think that would be putting GOD back in the public schools. Wouldn't you? It starts in the HEART, doesn't it?

Many of their school friends have been to church with us... :taped:

That's fantastic and Praise God for that Biblicist but I see many who have not this environment and we need to fight for exactly what you speak of here. The masses in large schools suffer the most and need help now. Like I said earlier I think teaching 5 year olds that homosexually is normal and a good way to prevent babies is bizarre. Plus this birth control for 11 year old is way off track. It gets even worse as kids progress through the later years. So we must ask ourself should we become complacent of act! Our choice who is more important our kids or our complacency? Make our voice be heard loud and clear. :taped:

I frankly cannot understand why a Christian would send their children to a catholic school. Public school is bad enough with it's religion of secularism, humanism, evolution, promiscuity, language and the like. But catholic school is not an alternative, for you are then sending them to be taught by false religious teachers.

Homeschooling or private Christian school are the only options, especially when children are young. We are told to train them, guard them, and protect them; not allow them to be influenced by the world and it's sin and lusts.

WHen attending a catholic school as a protestant you are not required to attend the religious education classes.

Not to get off topic, but I've seen a lot on this board about Catholic beliefs, by Catholics. I didn't know it wasn't allowed. Why isn't it?

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child up in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Find me a verse that says as long as we teach them the commands of God's in the leftover hours public school leaves us, he will no depart from it during the hours while he is away?

You can do that either way. Do you honestly believe that kids back then stayed by their parents side all day long every day? They had child labor in society back then. Unless you were a member of nobility, your kids worked 12 hours a day or more 6 days a week. Moreover, their parents worked 12 or more hours a day 6 days a week. We have far more time with our kids today than people ever have before. This whole notion of a mother staying home with the kids while the father goes to a 9 to 5 job Monday through Friday is a 20th Century invention.

We have a 4 year, and a 7 year old. Our 7 year old attends public school. Now I suppose that you might think we don't do anything with him because we are letting the "government raise him". However, if that is what you think, you would be wrong. There is not a weekend that goes by that our kids do not go on a hike or fishing or something of that nature. We go to museums, zoos, department of conservation offices, cultural events, historical sites, art fairs, and do various other enrichment activities all the time. Our son, at age 7, has been on wilderness canoe trips, wilderness backpacking trips, has been to several states, and has spent 2 weeks in China with us.

The key to raising good kids that are grounded in faith, and have a thirst for knowledge is not home schooling, or sending them to public school, or to private school. Instead, its taking a genuine interest in their education, moral, and ethical development. Thats the key. The responsibility of parenthood is indescribably immense when one thinks about the kind of influence that you have over kids in their formative years. You can do a wonderful job, or a terrible job regardless of where they go to school.

Your hatred for the public school system runs pretty deep doesn't it?

Shalom,

About as deep as your obvious disdain for Christian homeschoolers.

BTW your comment is totally uncalled for. You disagree with Emily Anne? Fine, discuss the issues please.

I think they tried to play off the catholic thing as much as possible to get the thread closed.

:taped::taped:

Hmmm, didn't someone say something about children being meaner than adults?

This is good that this subject is being discussed I am so happy. This could be a start of something big and oh God maybe we could make a difference somehow in this awful mess we let slip through our fingers, and maybe just maybe we can come up with a really great offence to reverse the lack of you oh God in our public Schools :taped: .

Shalom,

Back to TOPIC.

G-d is first and foremost in Christian homeschool. THIS is His design for our children's education.

Homeschoolers CONSISTENTLY score higher on standardized tests than their public school countgerparts.

It is not expensive to homeschool.

There are many many resources available to help the parents homeschool, even if they think they are not qualified. They are MORE qualified to teach their own children Christian education, than a stranger, Christian or not.

The classrooms are smaller, with a better teacher to student ratio.

We don't have Snow days or Teacher Work Days in homeschool.

We DO have time to be together learning G-d's Word, living it and sharing what we learn.

We have more time to do extra things, such as Christian Karate, Girl Scouts, music lessons, etc.

We never have to worry about someone at school molesting our children, (watch the news, TEACHERS are molesting students!!), selling them drugs, beating them up, teaching them wrong things about G-d and life.

We never have to worry that our children will be in a public school shooting.

When we moved across the country, we took our school with us.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
