These seem to be all cleaning remedies, but i heard something on 20/20 about bed bugs in hotel five star hotels and that people can get them in there own home, but all you have to do is put three to four dryer sheets under or inbetween mattress and that will ensure no bed bugs... i just bought a book called grandmothers critter ridder and it is all home remedies as how to get rid of bugs rats or what ever. use many and they work and all natural.. so if anyone having problems with a certain thing just let me know i will look it up for u and see what you need to do..

lost a tool?

then find it? all rusted up?

white vinegar soak works pretty good.... and at a buck fifty a gallon, not a bad price.....

tarnished brass? again white vinegar to clean it up and a soft cotton cloth to polish it.....

(if you like the look of red brass, you can use red bug juice (coolaid) to soak it in, and will take the tarnish off and give it a red color, if you like more of a yellow brass, use yellow coolaid to do the same thing.....)

vinegar is a good all around cleaner....

mineral build up in the stool, displace the water ( turn water off, flush, plunge to get rid of as much water as you can)

open the tank, and put a couple gallons in the tank, let sit for a while (the heavier the build up the longer it needs to sit)

and then flush the vinegar and then let it sit in the bowl for a while.....

lots of other uses too.....

good stuff.... even cleans out your insides....

The only home remedy I remember was my mom giving me cod liver oil. That ruined me for life on those things. The funniest home remedy was on the move "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", where the father used windex for everything (including cuts)

Once in a while before I vacuum the carpet I sprinkle baby powder all over and let it sit for ten minutes. It soaks up all the smells in the carpet and once vacuumed up leaves a pretty scent in the room. It last about three vacuums too!

Speaking of "White Vinegar" I was speaking to a farmer who uses Pestacides on a very large farm and he said for "hard water" and city treated water he adds "white vinegar" to his pesticides and they are more durable and last longer on the plants. He noted that they discovered that hard city treated water dilutes and dissolves the pestacides in less than half the time....Anyone else ever hear of this one?

Oh dear me Blien? Did you know that doctors stopped recommending "baby powder" around babies and even older folks? They were realizing with the fine powder being made , it was causing a rash of lung problems in people who used it. My brother was the most unhappy as he used it after showers while growing up. His wife has since found the lotion scented baby lotion....But it would be hard to vaccuum out of the carpet.

Paw Paw Ointment is excellent for cuts, scrapes, burns, chapped lips, Nappy rash...etc.

It is instant relief on minor burns.

I dont know if it's available in the US...under another brand name.

I have been using it for years, and about a year ago I managed to find an organic (pesticide free) version.

Vinegar is good for just about any kind of cleaning. It contains acetic acid which is it's active ingredient. We used it to strip the many layers of wall paper off the plaster wall in the old house we bought.

Honey Lemon Cough Syrup

Lemon helps promote health by quickly alkalinizing the body and honey will kill any bacteria. This is a perfect choice for a quick cough remedy.

Put a pint of honey in a pan on the stove on low heat (Do not boil honey as this changes its medicinal properties) .

Take a whole lemon and boil in some water in a separate pan for 2-3 minutes to both soften the lemon and kill any bacteria that may be on the lemon skin. Let the lemon cool enough to handle then cut it in slices and add it to the pint of honey on the stove. Let mixture cook on warm heat for about an hour. Then strain the lemon from the honey making sure all lemon seeds are removed. Let cool, then bottle in a jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator. This syrup will keep for 2 months in the refrigerator.
