I am curious as to what the majority of parents here feel as far as wether or not they would be comfortable with others spanking their children.

Personally, me and my husband would not be comfortable with others spanking our children. What are your feelings?

Doesn't GOD discipline us when we get out of order? Spank but don't be ruthless and unloving like some parents who just take their anger out on their kids.. THAT is a big no-no.

Sometimes spanking is the only thing that works for an unruly child. I know from experience and talking to other parents.

People keep talking about parents not being able to control their anger like they turn into the Incredible Hulk or something when having to spank their kids which I'd say in most cases isn't true. It is possible for a parent to spank their child to teach them a lesson without going crazy and dishing out a hour long beating and IMO those instances are very far and few in between.

Do you guys honestly believe there is no relation to kids being as disrespectful as they are today and paddling being banned from school?? Obviously back when it was allowed it was working and now that you do away with it we really have found out how many parents do a extremely poor job disciplining their kids but yet they don't want anybody else to do it either so let's just let the kids be as disrespectful as they want to because god forbid if we swatted them on the behind when they were young they would've turned out so much worse.

In todays time my dad would be serving life in prison without parole for some of the spankings we got when we were kids and all of them very much warranted.

"Withhold not correction from a child: for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)

Here are some other scriptures in the book of Proverbs that deal with Discipline

"The Rod Of Correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother" (29:15)

"Train a child in the way he should go,and when he is old he will not turn from it" (22:6)

"He who spares the rod hates his son,but he who loves him is careful to discipline him" (13:24)

"Discipline your son,for in that there is hope;do not be a willing party to his death" (19:18)

"Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him" (22:15)

"Discipline your son,and he will give you peace;he will bring delight to your soul" (29:17)

ok axxman, you're logic is lost on me. first you say that spanking is banned in the US, and that it can get you arrested. then you acknowledge it is not illegal, but insist it is still banned.

you can't go to jail for something that is not illegal.

it is not illegal (or banned) to spank a child. it's just rumoured to be prohibited. rumours don't make facts. no cop will arrest someone for spanking. they will arrest someone if evidence of physical ABUSE is found.

and spanking is not abuse. if the parent has left bruises on their child, that is not a spanking, and they can be arrested for abuse.

According to this website, there is in fact a ban in place, but yet it is still legal, at least in most states. http://www.familyrightsassociation.com/inf...anking_laws.htm

It really makes no sense! :noidea:

emily, despite what is written in the highlighted portion at the top of that page, so far i'm not seeing a single thing which indicates spanking is banned, and i'm up to "maine" now. i'm seeing a lot of bans on "excessive" physical punishment, or "punishment with intent to cause serious injury", but NOTHING banning a proper spanking.

ok, just finished reading the remainder of the states, and as with the first half, not a single state in the country bans or prohibits spanking a child for the purpose of correction and which is not done with intent (or result) of physical injury to the child.

I think it's that the ban is for all of the United States, yet each state has their own laws which pay no heed to the ban. It is wacked. :noidea: All I know is I am perfectly within my rights to spank our children. And even if I was not, God is my final authority before man. Mans laws do not override the bible in our house.

i think it was simply a misunderstanding, or a gross exaggeration, or (most likely) an intentionally misleading statement by the author of that web page meant to be a scare tactic.... there is no ban on spanking. there is a ban on excessive use of corporal punishment. so maybe the author did not understand what 'excessive' meant. the federal government has never had jurisdiction in this area.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
