Many ask. How can .."I"...stop sinning? That seems to be the problem. We in ourselves cannot stop. Paul in Romans ch 6 asks the question. Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?(grace the power that puts us over sin) His next question is ..How shall we who are dead to sin(the sin nature) live any longer there in? It is obvious here that Paul is talking about something much deeper than just the evidence of the fruit of sin. Its the very nature of the sin in us, which is evidenced by its fruit of actions in our everyday lives if we do not understand how Faith in Christ and what He did on the cross......makes us dead to our sin nature, which in turn brings forth its fruit. The fact that one is trying to overcome sin (Romans ch 7) as Paul did through his own efforts shows the wrong object of ones faith in deliverance from the sin nature. Paul finally came to the end of himself and asked who shall deliver me from tbis body of death? Then finally he readjusted his belief system, and at the end of Romans ch 7 He realized the power of faith in Christ sets us free from the sin nature. Paul then continues in the next chapter, Romans ch 8 For the law of the Spirit of Life IN Christ Jesus .....has made me free from the law of sin and death. Keeping ones faith simply in what Christ did on the cross for us seems to be the biggest challenge. In a performance world we want control. Maybe its time we rethink how we believe.

Titus 2

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Paul said: "Reckon yourselves indeed dead to sin....." however most Christians talk constantly about how they STRUGGLE WITH SIN!

Stop lying, and tell the TRUTH of God's Word: "The old man is dead with Christ in Baptism, and we are RAISED IN NEWNESS OF LIFE!!!" As soon as you set your mouth to speak God's word instead of 'prophesying falsely' concerning these things, you will find your struggle against sin ceases, and you simply 'live' in RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Ted, are you trying to say that a Christian can live a life without ever sinning?

Barry, propably the better question is, "When am I dead to sin." And my response would be, "When you've let go of all your worldly desires and committed yourself fully and wholly to God!" Hope that makes sense?

This side of Heaven we can never stop sinning. It's just not a human thing to be able to do. But, thank God, we have Jesus and His blood. We can try, but of ourselves we fail. Christ's blood covers us even when we fail.

It depends on what you believe, whether or not you will "strive" to be "holy". Do you believe God's Word? Or not?

Paul said: "Reckon yourselves indeed dead to sin....." however most Christians talk constantly about how they STRUGGLE WITH SIN!

Stop lying, and tell the TRUTH of God's Word: "The old man is dead with Christ in Baptism, and we are RAISED IN NEWNESS OF LIFE!!!" ABSOLUTELY Leonard!!!

1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

Ephesians 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.

1 Thess. 4:7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.

Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

2 Peter 3:11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.

(This is what the "grace" of God appeared for! See Titus 2 in previous post.)

Suzanne

This is the condition of ALL mankind BEFORE being reborn.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
