I wanted to talk to some of the people on this board who are pentecostal.

Ok. I don't go to a pentecostal church and have pretty much followed the Christian Brethren and baptists.

My older brother, also went to similar churches to myself.

Then he started going to Hillsong(Big pentecostal church) and began talking to me about some different things.

A lot of things started to make sense and I've seen a good change in his life.

I listen to some of the Christian City life churches preachings.

While I don't like loud music, I appreciate their preachings/talkings.

Not everything I agree on but I like the idea of healing - and that means praying not just for physical healing, but spiritual(emmotional healing).

My mother, a christian for a very long time, suffers from acute anxiety and my brother thinks

it is a spiritual battle. Is this true?

She takes lots of different medications, sees dr's and still is very anxious.

I would love to see her "set free" and this is what I like about the Pentecostal teachings.

Can someone please expand on this.

Please, I want to make it clear, I don't want any debates or anything bad said about other

denominations.

I come in peace as I am very interested.

thank you.

I love the Lord Jesus with all my heart, but I want to know Him more - I don't just want to go through the rituals of bible teachings without it being real and applied to my life.

Thanks!

hmmmm....it could be a spiritual battle. A lot of times, the devil will come in and deceive a person into thinking that oh, you're just all screwed up in the head, and you need medication....

BUT...having said that....I remember back to a class I had in school, where the instructor reminded us that the devil was defeated at Calvary. Jesus, when He want to the cross, took not only our sins, but our sicknesses and diseases with Him and nailed them to the cross. Then, when He defeated the devil, He took back the power that was taken away from Adam when Adam and Eve sinned. Now, saying that, hear me on this: THE DEVIL HAS NO MORE POWER OVER A CHRISTIAN THAN THAT WHAT THE CHRISTIAN GIVES HIM/HER. You have to give the devil power to overcome you. He doesn't have the power, that was taken away from him at Calvary.

Sometimes, it is just something that is wrong physically in the body. But who's to say that God didn't allow it there for a reason? I'm not saying God puts sickness on us, He doesn't. He ALLOWS us to go through times so that we might get closer to Him and rely on Him more. And, the healing is all in HIS timing, not ours. Someone could be healed of being in a wheelchair today and then next week someone could be healed of AIDS. Who knows what God does, we surely don't!

I can't explain it all in one sitting. I have to do some more research and then I can answer your questions fully.

Probably. Perfect love casts out fear. The devil is interested in tormenting anyone (and in this case, your mother), and fear brings torment.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 (KJV)

The good news is you have authority, and you need to take authority in this case, and you need to find others full of faith to agree with you in faith, and as you and they agree together, seaking God for her deliverance, God will instruct you clearly as to specifically what, if anything, you and/or your mom might need to do to get free and stay free.

Some of the gifts of the Spirit are a Word of Wisdom, a Word of Knowledge, and Faith. One of the values of finding Spirit filled believers is that they will have not only received these gifts (various gifts among a group of believers), but they will have some experience in how to use these gifts to obtain what you are seaking, which is your mother's freedom from this.

She belongs to Jesus, and the devil has no rights to torment her, but he will not just give up without a fight. Fight the good fight of faith for her.

In all likelehood, this is not a recent problem, and as with all long term suffering, the effort might be considerable to overcome. In other words, this is not a ten second prayer, but likely a prayer and fasting assualt, to take away from the enemy what he has tried to do.

high grace 222

i feel for you but you wil probably get others trying to debate you so just be very care ful i have come across this my self in some of these thread and to be honest it just gets up my nose how some like to argue instead of talking a lot of the people hear are very good people decent kind hearted honest brothers and sisters from all denominations then you get some funny one that like to mock what you your self stand for and belive in and no matter what you say they wil like to make a fool out of you so please sister be very care ful

i came across one person who said what is some one like me with my name damien doing on a christian forum and then try to tel me i am like the devil him self which just got up my nose my parents gave me this name and i wil not change it for no one so from a brother who has experianced this just be ready for some negative stuff you wil know what i mean and you wil know how to deal with this their are few hear that do this you wil come across them just look at some of the threads in new topics to get a feeling for what is said hear

i am aware of hillingson and christian city church as i have sevral friends that go to these churches i am with the christian out reach center my self and we use a lot of hill song stuff in our worship i have sevral of hill song cds my self and we had orderd some dvds by bishop td jakes who spoke at christian city church

i was very skeptical of this my self when i first walked into a penticostal church when i just came out of jail in 1988 free from serving a second sentance and this time i served this in prison farm

i did not jump in head first as a couple from the unitting church took me in i was with oconner unitting church in canberra and it was a charasmatic penticostal church the pastor was a nice man their wear 3 of them brian medway dan arm strong and bob ardverson oconner unitting church grew from 30 to 2500 people it had a school a bus for out reach two houses one for men one for women and it was set to reach out to the homeless and those coming out of jail

when i first heard people speak in tongues and then saw people clapping their hands and then saw people cry and also sevral dance threw the worship services this to be honest scared me and i wanted out but a friend who was with the salvation army who her self was an oficer inivted me i was living with an inmate i met in goulburne jail and i met my friend in the salvation army threw a boarding hostel i stayed in before i moved in with my other mate

also what got me is the laying of hands and seeing people fall under the spirit the worship also freaked me out as they would at the very end open up and sing in the spirit in tongues this also what you said the church belived in healing and sevral shared how they wear heald and set free from many things

i was very skepitcal but the spirit kept pushing me as i kept feeling as if my hear was being pulled then when i went down the front for prayer i stood my ground as i saw how some wear forced to fall back if this was going to hapen to me it wil have to be god other wise i wil stand my ground

yet i began to open up and i began to ask the spirit if this is for me then i do not want to miss out slowly i was able to acept this mind you for the first 17 months i held back and fought real hard

these things do hapen we have to be open and not skeptical and by me saying being skeptical it talks about this in james 1

5 if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of god who gives to all liberally and with out reproach and it wil be given to you

6 but let him ask in faith with no doubting for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind

i have seen god do some amazing things my self i use to also be an orthadox cathlic croation grace so i fought hard and did my own leg work to this faith and to how penticostal saw god for them selves and what they belived in and i say this to any one do not jump in head first but do you own leg work and trust the holy spirit from with in

i am more apostolic grace as i am very open to the bible and i am open to the holy spirts leading i alow him to have full reign in my life and never has he let me down

as i say this if i am going to preach this gospel than i need to belive this my self and if i am to reach out to those i know then i need some hard facts other wise i wil put this bible down and not beive a single thing i read on the disciples or on what christ taught them and the miracles he porformed this is just the way i am grace as being an x street kid who lived on the streets of kings cross i learnt very hard how to survive the streets of the cross and a street kid has to be tuff and he has to harden his heart one thing i learnt as that is to pick the flakes out i also can do this with in the body of christ this is just one of my gifts i know how to read people

please do not be scared of this to what you are asking but try to do some leg work talk to as many people who had experianced this have a note pad and go threw your own bible as wel

i am sorry for being so open its just the way i am grace i took my time to read what you said and i slso had been to brian hustons fathers church in waterloo

their is nothing funny about this church when i am in sydney i wil viset i have not been for a while but i love the worship stuff that comes out of hillsong

i hope i have been able to answer some of your questions by my own understanding of this church and the changes you have seen in your brother

my very best friend are sevral baptists and open brethren and i pray with spirit filled nuns grace

god bles from your brother in the lord damien

Dear Grace,

Welcome to Worthy, and I agree with your prayer and desire for this thread to remain civil, honoring one another in the Lord.

I'm very sorry for the struggles your mom is having. "God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." Irrational fear is often enhanced or magnified by demonic oppression, but usually has it's source in some lie that the person is believing. Fears are rooted in lies. "Perfect love casts out fear." As we come to really know (experientially) the love of God, the truth of God's love for us destroys the lies we've believed and fills us with God's love.

What fears is your mother consumed with? Is it death, poverty, abandonment, etc.? Even though she likely does not attend a Pentecostal church, you togther with her can battle such fears using the Word of God and prayer. What is it that your mother is afraid of?

it is a spiritual battle. Is this true?

I'm in a rush right now, but I just wanted to say that chances are there is something going on in her life that needs to be healed/ dealt with.

Anxiety can be the result of a past trauma that hasn't been healed, unforgiveness, anger at God (we Christians don't like to admit that we are angry at God, but we do get angry at Him, and it is best to admit it and work it out than to suppress it), or other things. Unforgiveness is a root to many mental problems people face.

So, yes, I believe it is a spiritual battle. The question is: what is the stronghold in her life? Yes, Satan is defeated, but we do give him footholds wherever there is some area in our life that is not surrendered to the Lord (and who here can honestly say we have it all surrendered? No one, unless you are sinless - which we know we are not).

Pray about this before the Lord.

Hello Grace, welcome to worthy,,

Well i just want to say right off that i dont like labels for myself, most would say i am penticostal.. but i like just saying i am a washed in the blood of Jesus..cause many judge us when we say we are this or that.. i have had a few debates on tongues healings ect.. and i choose not to anymore cause we get no where... so i will just tell you how i feel.. i went to a church pent... and i was so leary of this church, because i was not use to the shouting amens and hallelujahs hands raised in the air.. ect... but the more i read the Word and asked God for certain things.. i started to see, i told God i didnt want nothing that wasnt of God .. didnt want to speak in tongues if it wasnt of God or anything else.. well i started to raise my hand just happend one sunday and i almost yanked it down when i saw that i had raised it up.. but that was my fear again rising up .. so i became open to the things of God that i was closed off to before .. i believe you mom can be in a spiritual battle of the mind or not.. but we are all struggling to some degree in our minds always... i believe in physical healings and emotional ones.. i saw my husband healed in front of my very own eyes.. he had 7 back surgerys and couldnt walk well always limped and in pain and on day he was getting prayer like he always did and all of a sudden he fell on the floor and layed there and about few mins he jumped up adn took off running i was shocked i coudnt believe what i was seeing well that was almost ten years ago.. so i can speak from what i know and have seen.. also speak in tongues when i pray sometimes... i dont think i am special just think it is a prayer launage to God.. many here dont believe this stuff and that is ok.. long as we agree on the main thing which is Jesus being our Lord and saviour..his mercy and grace..ect.. but not sure if any of this helps you or not.. i believe what Jesus did when he walk the earth years ago he will do today... we can do all those things in Jesus name...

God bless sister vicki

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
